Very informative! My wife has recently fallen in love with cresties (started wtih two females at a local expo 10 months ago to now two breeding pairs, a lone male, 1 store bought juvenile, 5 babies hatched [6 more eggs incubating], and 2 gargoyles!) and loves learning about morphs and genetics! I sub'd.

Are low contrast dalmatian cresties a thing? My little dude has different shades of yellow, copper, and tan spots and splotches on an amber background. It's next to impossible to get an accurate photo of him. When he's really excited about something, he looks like a living fire opal.

You should do the most common price ranges on each morph
@AltitudeExotics7 жыл бұрын
+Madison Whitaker there is really no one answer to that. Even within each morph prices can vary by hundreds and hundreds of dollars based on size, age, sex and individual pattern.

How can you tell the difference between a Charcoal and an Axanthic?
@AltitudeExotics4 жыл бұрын
It can be very hard to tell. A breeder knows because they would know what geckos produced the animal in question. Visually, Charcoals are more dark brown with cream marking on their tails. Axanthics can range from white to pure black and all shades of grey in between and any white markings on the tail are pure paper white. If the genetics or lineage of an animal are unknown, proving the mutation out via breeding is the only way to confirm its morph. This goes for any mutation, not just axanthic and charcoal.
@PaulPhillips8004 жыл бұрын
@@AltitudeExotics OK thank you, I recently hatched out a dark almost patternless Gecko from a first pairing of a couple of my Geckos that I have had for many years. It is very different to the parents and any of the other 7 eggs I have hatched from this pair. I was wondering if I had just got incredibly lucky as I had had never had one like it before lol
@acorinne7877 жыл бұрын
I have no idea what morph mine is, she's green on her sides and cream and white along her head and back. No pinstripes but she's by far the most beautiful created I've seen. I also have never seen a green crested so I was wondering if that's a common thing?

@kittenfish51167 жыл бұрын
IHaveAGoodName I got fairly lucky, I got my crested gecko almost a month ago now(he's a baby) and the reptile store I bought him for doesn't know crested gecko morphs and aft the first few days I noticed he had a couple black spots on his neck, and fast ford after a week of having him he shed and now has a bunch more spots, with a partial pinstripe, obviously since I don't know fully what else is in him that's about as much as I can guess until he gets bigger. He's such a good boy. Or at least I hope he's a boy because I'm overprotective of my pets and one of the reptile youtubers I watch lost her crested gecko from getting egg bound.

Just found your videos Brian. Nice job. Drippy- WAY overrated. Of course, I would have to put the creamsicle (check your spelling :) higher and the Red Harley at the God level of crested gecko morphs. Good to see different opinions.
@pewpewcat76794 жыл бұрын
Ok, so I'm challenged when it comes to genetics (I'm still trying to figure it out). Say you have a super dal (not that it makes a difference, but extreme ink spots vs regular, essentially looks like marilyn pretty much exactly, just fatter 😆) mother and a pinstripe dal father, what percentage of the babies are super dals? And what about a normal dal/normal dal combo? Is it 50/50 each? I feel like it would be 50/50 being they are co-dominant... but I could totally be wrong. Punnett squares are still somewhat of an enigma to me but that's because I didn't go to highschool in the us so I'm literally seeing them for the first time, plus I don't have all my knowledge on the traits yet and which are dominant/co-dominant/recessive but I'm taking notes haha

+Steve Munn When crested geckos loose their tails they do not grow them back like other lizards. They can loose they tails for a number of reasons. Anything from getting it pinched in a cage door to breeding to just getting startled by thunder.

Altitude Exotics thank you for replying, most people don't bother, thank you for explaining as we didn't know if it was a male/female thing. At the moment we have a collection of 40 ball pythons 6 corn snakes 5 leopard gecko 3 African fat tails 2 bearded dragon 2 tortoises and a veiled chameleon and we are now thinking of moving on to crested geckos and would like to know the pros and cons, once again great video steve and Michelle 👍🏻🇬🇧

Don't know if this is true but, I've heard this guy sells crested geckos for way more than they're priced, he takes your money and doesn't get back to you.
@AltitudeExotics3 жыл бұрын
How would I even do this? For one, if I was taking money and not delivering geckos at best I'd out of business and known far and wide across the reptile industry. (People have tried this, I myself got scammed this was in the past as I've shared on this channel) At worst I'd be in jail, you know because of laws. Also, how exactly does one sell geckos for way more than their priced? If I price a gecko at $100, am I supposed to be using voodoo mind control to make people actually send $300 instead? I'm confused.....
