The UK, like too many Western countries at the moment, has to choose between two right-wing parties: one that is both fiscally and socially conservative and one that is merely fiscally conservative. So, yeah, vote for Labour but only because Tories are still the worst (because of their morally reactionary views). How about having a Labour Party that is actually the party of laborers? Now, there's a thought!

I'm no fan of Starmer's New Tories/ex-Labour but the £2,000 figure was pulled just out of thin air. Not only had Labour not yet announced its policies on which to base such estimates. On top of that the figure hadn't actually been cooked up in the Treasury as the Permanent Secretary made clear in letter to Labour but came from a Tory document (while the Tories claimed otherwise)

As a first time voter and as someone unaffiliated to any party. I have to say the influence of Farage on this election wasn't cringe by any means and has actually made things more interesting for me. I think it's a damning sight for our electoral system that this conservative party may likely still be the voice of opposition in parliament. If that's the case, we have no hope of breaking being a two-party state.
