As a "Mountain Biker" - now City-cycler; ( putting more pressure on the front brake ) threw me off, had to rewind several times; I always had been "Loose adjusting the front brake" as to not go "arse over tea-kettle" I've grown up thinking that was the "rule" or such. Thanks for the videos though, learning a lot; one further question, are bike shorts & shirt proper attire for a restaurant Chef to wear with only a Chef jacket over ?? Place I worked at once still cracks me up; we joked that at least he changed shoes, upon arrival. Cheers from The USA.

My brother was around 19 years old very overweight and unfit had a totally sedentary lifestyle and job and one day decided to buy a bike and after the weekend decided he would cycle to work over 10miles away weather wasn't great extremely windy I think he even tried most of it riding down a duel carriageway just a few rpm away from a heart attack motorists beeping at him (wind blowing him into the carriageway) he ended up calling a taxi and never using the bike again refused to sell me it also. Could never tell that lad anything very ignorant to reason

Your seat height is determined not just by how long your legs are and the size and shape of the bike frame.Its most important to bare in mind your Hamstrings/Quads/calf flexibility and strength of glutes and abdominals. If you have knee flick during the peddle stoke your saddle is too high.This is caused usually in quad dominant people and only further ingrains the dysfunction.

This may or may not qualify as a cycling mistake, but it can depend on the type & length of the ride you are planning: Not first going out on a decent warmup/shakedown ride close to home, or wherever you're staying, returning to your jumpoff point within an hour or so before you embark on that day's ride. Dress in full riding apparel, and outfit your bike for the big ride during this warmup. This will give you a chance to ensure that everything is doing its job as it should, and you'll be back shortly, where you can then make any changes to your apparel or bike or equipment & accessories, if need be. You'll have time for fine-tuning the fit of your helmet, or trying out new shoes before committing them (and your feet) the to the anticipated rigors of a long ride, or to make sure that your lights & pump are secure, or that you're forgetting something you'll need to depend on for the ride to be a success. Best of all, you'll feel strong & fresh when you head out on the main ride, and will have significantly reduced your chances of injury or strain later on, when you might be far from home. A good 30 minutes on the warmup ride should do the trick for just about anyone, under almost any circumstances. This advice might be extra-valuable for new riders. Hope it helps.

Riders on a low carb diet generally don't bonk so there's no need to take food. Also (according to the GCN video) the rides undertaken in a low carb state tend to be endurance rides which also means less need to refuel on the bike. Please stop trolling. GCN never said or implied that riders use a low carb strategy long term or in competition. A massive part of preparing for a grand tour is weight loss and there's a ton of evidence which shows low carb can help achieve this quickly. We all make our own choices in life. It never hurts to give other people the respect of not trying to ram your choices down their throats.
@ThePrimaryKorea8 жыл бұрын
Btw low carb for weight loss is hardly a new idea. Not even to cycling. If you're at all interested in evidence and facts have a read of these articles from 2013. I don't have a dog in this fight but I'm sick of the nonsense being spouted by the vegan minority on the comments. Surely there's more to debate (and life) than typing out some guys slogans verbatim? cyclingtips.com/2013/08/high-fat-low-carb-diets-good-for-you-and-your-cycling/ cyclingtips.com/2013/09/high-fat-low-carb-diets-the-effects-and-how-to-try-one/
