Random fact for the day: Paige O'Hara, the voice actress for Beauty and the Beast, actually cries during the scene where Beast died. After her emotional performance the people at the studio asked if she was okay, to which her tears instantly dried up and she replied, "Acting!"

+Jackie Jones While we can go on about how his role as the Genie was amazing, how tragic his death was and such, I think that Williams needs to be mentionned for one more reason: he was the first non-voiceover actor to be brought in. I may be stretching it a bit (perhaps Chad could enlighten me on this), but all the other actors that worked for Disney films before Aladdin were people who worked on radio and other audio-only medias. Robin Williams wasn't a voice-actor, but a stage comedian and actor. After Aladdin, Disney started to cast known celebrities as their characters, not just for marketing reasons, but also because Williams showed them that regular actors with little to no experience in voice acting could voice animated characters. Like I said, my sources are a little vague (I believe that Troy Baker, a famous anime/video game voice actor, mentionned that part in one of his convention panels), but I think that without Williams, this Top 10 wouldn't have seen the light on day. Feel free to check the release dats on every movie presented here: Aladdin is the oldest one.

I'd like to list some of my favorites that didn't get a mention but I thought should: Tony Jay as Frolo - His voice alone sends shivers to my spine. He is scary, menacing and downright diabolical, but also has a more vulnerable side with "Hellfire". I think him not being an honorable mention is a miss. Robby Benson as The Beast - Considering he was a teen heartthrob it's shocking how he turned out such a great performance, his pipes are something else. Kristen Bell as Anna - It's funny you mention Mandy Moore, because I think Kristen Bell did the same thing with Anna, but way better. I felt that Rapunzel was more stereotypical while Anna seemed more grounded in comparison. Josh Gad as Olaf - It's hard to the be comic relief sidekick and not be overbearing, but Josh Gad nailed Olaf but not making him overly loud and talk fast, but just exudes a ridiculous amount of friendly energy and heartfelt delivery. Amy Poehler as Joy - She had the most screen time so he had to have various amounts of changes to her character compared to the rest, but she managed to hold the whole movie together. It was a great treat to see her do the more serious lines as opposed to just the straight up comedy she is known for. Peter O'Toole as Anton Ego - Ratatouille is a movie that I love the plot and its message more than its characters, but at the top stand the subtle and brief performance of the late great Peter O'Toole, who delivers perhaps the best monologue in Disney history. George C Scott as Percival McLeach - It's George C Scott. The guy's voice fits a villain to a T. I don't have much to say. Ellen DeGeneress as Dory - She is still my favorite host at the oscars, I don't mind watching portions of her talk show, for a guy who doesn't like shows of that kind, and she did wonders with Dory. Most quirky characters are usually male, but it's so refreshing to see one performed by such a great female comedian. Bruno Campus as Prince Naveen - I love his take on the traditional Disney prince and he by far has the biggest arc going from an arrogant airhead to an empathetic individual. The way Bruno delivers his comedic lines is definitely a thing of laughter. last and not least Gilbert Gottfried as Iago - I know many people dislike him, and he seems to get a lot of roles as birds, but I really have a hard time imagining anyone else as the loud obnoxious parrot. In fact, a lot of his better moments come in the sequels and the TV series, but even in the original Aladdin he was a great foil to Jafar.

I think regular actors do well because voice acting is not that different from movie acting... My favorite celeb who was in a Disney movie was and will always be Vincent Price. Being known for his horror movies, and gets cast into the role of a rat, Ratigan. With the whole Sherlock theme to the Great Mouse Detective, he fit into Ratigan like a glove. The voice that can go from cheerful to pure evil is what makes Ratigan the perfect Disney villian. I don't really have much else, its indescribable beyond that point.

She's a great comedian, and I LOVE her as Mabel, she really is amazing. She always gives a top notch performance but the defining moment for me as far as Kristin Schaal's portrayal of Mabel goes was in "Not What He Seems" when she's crying about how much she wants to believe Stan despite everything. Such a raw, heartbreaking performance for a character that's usually so silly, hilarious and cheerful. But yeah, this is more a list for movies. Besides, would she be considered a celebrity? She seems to do a well balanced mix between stand up comedy and voice acting but as far as I can tell, she's not exactly a big name in Hollywood. Respected maybe sure, and certainly getting a lot of work, but a celebrity?

Funny how we went from casting semi-unknown actors to casting celebrities in only 30 years. One interesting thing I noticed in older Disney movies is that some of the cast have also been radio actors in the past, Eleanor Audley is one example I can think of from the top of my head, she's played many "strict authority figure" types on radio shows and made one off appearances in a lot of tv shows after her time with Disney. Hell, the voice of Aurora even went on to become a successful opera singer.

Something that I love about Rapunzel is that her speaking style sort of reminds of Jodi Benson's Ariel in some way

I think some other damn good voice performances were Brad Bird as Edna Mode and Elizabeth Peña as Mirage from The Incredibles. They both have incredibly distinct voices, and, c'mon, who could ever forget Edna's monologue about 'no capes' and her 'comforting' Elastigirl?? As for Mirage, her voice is so pleasant to listen to, and it hit the mark for her character design. They meshed perfectly! But honestly, The Incredibles is chock full of top-of-the-line performances all-in-all.

Honestly, for Disney, my absolute favourite voice actor was, and always will be James Earl Jones as Mufasa. Matthew Broderick as Simba is a close second but man does James Earl Jones do an amazing job as Mufasa with the tiniest blep of anger when Scar challenges him to that threatening parent voice to that desperation when he's hanging.. on the side of the cliff, begging his brother to help him *insert gushing waterfall of tears here* then getting thrown off

Would you consider Ilene Woods a celebrity of her day? I do! Can you also do a Top 10 Disney Voice Performances from Lesser Known People? Also, thanks for getting the Jump5 song stuck in my head.

One of my teachers said in the movie Aladdin Robin Williams had only one line, but then he did a whole lot of improv. And the studio people said leave it, and the rest is history.

You might want to add that Robin Williams sang both A Friend like Me and Prince Ali. You know how these days we have different actors, one for talking and one for singing unless the actor is a singer? Yeah, Williams wasn't a singer, but dude he did knock the ball out of the park with his songs. Sure, Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Idina Menzel as Elsa both talked and sang, but for Williams, it was an extra challenge. As for my faves: - Danny DeVito as Phil (Hercules); dude, the PENGUIN as a grumpy satyr XD I believe he sang the song too. - Lewis Black as Anger (Inside Out) - Scott Adsit as Baymax (Big Hero 6) - Idina Menzel as Elsa (Frozen); she nailed it perfectly with the song as well. - Tony Jay as Frollo (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame) - Jason Lee as Syndrome (The Incredibles)

Ertha Kitt (Yzma) also had some struggles since the movie was going to be "the kingdom of the sun" and changed due to finance problems; she was going to be yzma still but at a bigger role, like an epic movie villian. Still after all that chaos and changing directors, she did amazing!

Also for Scar I think Jeremy Irons's acting is very similar to Jude Law's in Rise of the Guardians. I don't look for big and scary typically; I look for unsettling. That's what I got from both characters, and exactly why Scar and Pitch Black are two of my favorite movie villains of all time. (Also, to continue on about Jude's performance, when I read The Guardians of Childhood books I read Pitch's lines in Jude's voice. It made him THAT much creepier. Such a good casting choice!)
