Oh come on....they couldn't have made Hanz being the bad guy more obvious, unless they were jumping up and down with a picket sign. "the perfect new stranger comes into town, and Anna falls in love right away. On an adventure, you see Anna not fall in love with Kristoff right away, and let the witty banter pursue.". What part of that have you not seen 1 million times
@marshmallowvampire85034 жыл бұрын
Those were lots of cliches that I've seen several times. "Cliche" isn't to complain, just saying. And when first viewing, by the time we got to Olaf's song, I was a little tired of the music and for reasons I don't know, bored with the direction. (Not trying to insult Frozen fans. There was still stuff I did like in that movie). So having a weird twist wasn't expected, I was just like "They're throwing that in? Okay." Anything off or weird wasn't a surprise by this point, I guess.😊

"Love is an Open Door" is what tipped me off completely to the twist in Frozen. It was TOO happy and TOO perfect and I just thought, "He's totally gonna do something wrong." I couldn't watch the rest of the movie without anticipating the inevitable, and I admit, the narrative did try to throw me off, but I still couldn't shake it. And then it happened, and I was probably the only "yep," in the sea of gasps around me in the theater.

To this current day, I think the one Disney animated moment I found the most jaw dropping was when Assistant Mayor Bellwether revealed herself as the villain in Zootopia. Seriously, throughout the whole movie, we don't see her convey a hint of evil. She just comes across as the nice, helpful character who supports Judy all the way. So, I was absolutely shocked when Bellwether revealed her true colors later on. It was an even bigger shocker to me than it was with Hans in Frozen.

something that doesn't make sense in the way Ray dies is that he is a fly and he was crushed by a boot. he would not have had a body anymore. he would have gone splat you know. but i guess leaving him as a yellow stain on the sidewalk would have been a bit too dark...

+Line Poulsen Petty nit-picking on my part, but fireflies are a touch more robust than most flying insects, so he would've been relatively intact. Although, even with that in mind, all of his glowing juices would've been splattered out of his body...and he wouldn't have been flickering like that, just gradually fading out like a glow stick.

I agree with these but how is King Candy is actually Turbo from Wreck-it Ralph not on here? We all knew King Candy was the villain, but the fact that he was Turbo actually really shocked me. I never gave any mind to the flash back as I thought it was just a way to show exactly what'll happen if they don't find Ralph. Also I can agree with that Toy Story 3 moment. I started to lose hope that they would make it.
@sweetmagic56009 жыл бұрын

I wondered the same thing. I remember when I first saw Wreck-It-Ralph, that scene is full of enough tension as it is, but when I saw King Candy begin to glitch I just remember thinking 'what?'. Then the reveal happened and my jaw couldn't have hit the floor any quicker. It completely took me off guard, and to this day it is one of the reasons it is my favourite Disney films. The plot is great, but the masterful way that this twist was done still blows my mind.

And number 1 made my jaw drop as well.
@AshXXMayftw10 жыл бұрын
Many will disagree with me here, but to me Hans is still the best Disney villain ever. Why? Well for one it was unpredictable after seeing how well he cared for the people of Elsa's kingdom, his determination to save Anna, and his overall nice tone, but it's all just a ruse to hide what he really is. Finally he's realistic. Believe it or not this kind of thing happens to a lot of women, a man lures them into a state of acceptance and love and then just completely takes advantage of them.
@Hoparound2110 жыл бұрын
He's definitely one of the most realistic villains! Frollo could give hans a run for his money though, a tyrant who uses peoples own beliefs against them as well as forces his own beliefs among others, one who sees error in all but himself, who gets control by taking it. He's got the traits of a rapist, he's all about power, he didn't even want Esmerelda for love, but he liked the idea of having control over her.

Honestly Brave is some much more, she change her fate, Disney made a strong female who didnt want a man, and it showed that the mom finally understoud her daughter. Alot of Diseny doesnt show mothers and if they did they are step moms and so this was a real love movie between mother and daughter, unlike frozen that showed sister and sister love. But its more then love its a bad ass chick wanting the change the fact that she has to be slowed down by a man. a Princess can rule with out a man at her side and no other Disney movie shows that, in that of an intensly way. If you had a chance to change your fate would you.

When it got to that scene, I shit you not, the entire theater just gasped out loud(including me). That has got to go down in the Hall of Fame of Greatest Movie Plot Twists In History right up there with Empire Strikes Back, Planet Of The Apes (1968), and The Sixth Sense among others. You are correct in your theory that "Brave" was originally called something else and was changed to more appeal to the male demographic. Early in production, the film was referred to as "The Bear and the Bow" before it was changed to make the title more vague. Much like "Tangled".

Personally I think the title they went with was good.

To be honest, one of the biggest jawdropping moments, with Frozen, for me was the climax of Let it go when Elsa single-handedly raises her ice palace. I remember seeing this movie in theaters for the first time and thinking the first half of the film just looked beautiful as any Disney or Pixar film would. But the combination of camera mastery, stunning visuals and gorgeous music in this one scene had me in actual tears by the song's end, still does. And that one scene inspired me to pursue a career in animation.

i have to point out that without that plot twist actually i don't think the movie would have been so successful..without Hans, who is the villain? Elsa? O.o seems to me that there could have been a lack of conflict and a really childish plot..

Hans has to be my favorite Disney villain for the moments we know he is evil at the end. Despite me not liking the movie Frozen.........
@mysterylioness656610 жыл бұрын
I really liked Hans too, but the movie does hint that he is the bad guy when he says how many older siblings he has. For me that was a giveaway, although I spent the rest of the movie hoping that he would decide to become one of the good guys in the end.
@mysterylioness656610 жыл бұрын
Mikoto Chan The bad guys could have been the villagers like in beauty and the beast. Then there could have been a whole rescue plot where the characters each learned their important lessons as they saved Elsa from being burned at the stake or something. Hans could have realized that tricking Anna wasn't worth being king and could have confessed. Then Anna would learn that she needs to take her relationships slower and they could finish the movie as friends. Christoff could have fit in there somewhere. Endless possibilities.

Man, I shed a river of tears with Up's first minutes. It's gotta be one, If not THE MOST emotional moment in Disney's history.
@Raving_Rando10 жыл бұрын
Sad to say I really can't agree with number 4. I thought the plot twist was handled really poorly. For it to really work, there needed to be some kind of hint, however subtle, that Hans had sinister motives. But there were NONE. Hans was a thorough good guy for the first half of the film. In fact, he was such a good guy that many of his actions make LESS sense after the twist. For instance, Elsa would've been killed by the Duke's henchmen if it weren't for Hans. He could've let her die. He should've let her die. His whole goal was to bump off both Anna and Elsa and take over Arendelle. If he'd let the Duke's henchmen finish her, she'd be out of the way and the Duke would take the fall instead of him. And yet he helps save her life, for no reason! The King Candy plot twist in "Wreck-It Ralph" was MUCH more well done. :(
@FanOfAnimation10 жыл бұрын
The reason he doesn't let the Duke's henchmen kill Elsa is because he didn't know where Anna was or if she was even alive. If Anna was dead and Elsa was killed by the henchmen, he wouldn't be able to take over because he wasn't an heir yet.
@Raving_Rando10 жыл бұрын
FanOfAnimation How does leaving Elsa alive help get him to the throne? She's the one on the throne! She's the number one thing he needs to remove. If Elsa dies, then the throne goes to Anna. And he's engaged to Anna. So there you go. He literally could not have asked for a better set-up than the one fate handed him, and he threw it away. Besides, if his reason for keeping Elsa alive was because he wasn't a proper heir yet, then why did he try to kill Anna before they were married? He's in no better position to inherit the throne after he saves Elsa's life then he was before. Why didn't he, at the least, wait until he married into the family before betraying them? This character just makes no sense to me.
@FanOfAnimation10 жыл бұрын
Raving Rando I don't know. I figured that since he didn't know the whereabouts of Anna, he wanted to keep Elsa alive as a backup. And when he left Anna for dead, he could have tricked them into believing they had gotten married.
@silversamurai02679 жыл бұрын
If you watch that scene again, more closely, you'll notice that he actually peers up for a second before re-aiming the henchman' bow. He purposely AIMS it towards the chandelier in the hopes that it will look like he tried to save her, but out of sheer "bad luck" the chandelier falls on her and kills her instead. However, that spur of the moment plan didn't succeed, so he needed to lock her up alive instead.
@Raving_Rando9 жыл бұрын
Silver Samurai26 I'm sorry, but it still doesn't make sense. Hans and the soldiers barge into Elsa's chamber to see her apparently murdering two guards. All Hans had to do was act stunned by what he was seeing, for just one second; then Elsa would've succeeded in killing Wesselton's assassins and she would've been exposed as a killer in front of everyone. Both Hans and Wesselton could have exploited that angle to no end. Second, Hans could've acted like he didn't notice the assassin was aiming for her; Elsa didn't notice, so it would have been believable. While he may have had reason to act like a hero in front of the soldiers, there was *no reason* for him to actively save Elsa from the assassin... other than to convince the audience that he was still a good guy, and I'm sorry, but that's really bad writing. In any case, it would have been much harder for Elsa to dodge a speeding arrow she wasn't prepared for, than a falling chandelier that she noticed. And even if I was to buy that excuse, think about it. In the span of half a second, Hans manages to grab the guard's arm, and (without looking down the sight, mind you) aim it perfectly at an inch-wide chain, 50 feet above him. That is nonsense. Not even Legolas could have pulled that off.

My jaw dropping Disney moment would have to be The Destroyed Village scene from Mulan, i didn't really realize that much of it but then when I watched it when I was older I just was like😳, with the atmosphere, the color scheme, and the Score done by the Legendary Jerry Goldsmith it makes it even more Dark, plus there are even DEAD BODIES of the Imperial Army and horses, FREAKING HORSES, and the real reason this is Jaw dropping and dark is because it shows something that Disney hasn't touched upon in years, The reality of War, and that's was my Jaw Dropping Disney Moment P.S. I think that that scene might have been Darker than Mufas's Death P.P.S. Don't judge me and don't call me a Monster, I'm not Heartless unlike Donald Trump, everyone has Different Opinions and this is mine

GaarasIchibi88 Yeah...Brave has got to be the biggest let-down in movie history for me. If we HAD gotten the film the trailer promised us, it could have been one of the greatest animated features of all time! The epic feel, the fiery protagonist, the gorgeous backdrop of the Scottish lowlands...but instead we got a stupid family sitcom. Merida was nothing more than a whiny brat, and the beautiful setting was wasted. I mean, the story could have taken place at any time period and in any location and it wouldn't have made a difference! Brave can be summed up in two words: WASTED POTENTIAL. It was the first film the writer/director had spearheaded, and hopefully, it'll be the last. She hasn't made anything since, thank god.

I saw the twist in frozen coming a mile away. There's no way Disney would make TWO guys who are both good. That's CRAZY. One's has to be good and one has to be bad. Because then the woman would have to choose and Disney isn't going down that road. This way the decision is made for her.
@rattis10 жыл бұрын
I honesty just thought that Hans would end up with Elsa, so that the love-triangle would be settled that way. Like for instance the scene where Elsa is about to kill some mofo and Hans wisely is all like "no bitch, dont act like a monster and shit cause that would totally suck!" I thought the movie was setting up for them to become a pair.

Oh my goodness it was so obvious!! Story time!: My sister and I were at a local Target about two months before Frozen was released and we were both worried about the film. Then we picked up a children's book for Frozen and just looking at the cover with the four main characters and I jokingly pointed at Hans saying "oh he's gonna be the bad guy!" Then we read the storybook and what d'ya know, I was right! Then we watched the movie when it came out, and I still thought it was obvious but I was surprised coming out of it really liking Hans. By the time he sang Love is an Open Door, I really wanted to be wrong! I thought he was great and really didn't want him to be "bad"!! But whatever he's still good in my eyes...and in some fanfiction. The Duke of Weselton was the real bad guy!! He should atone for his crimes for attempting to murder the Queen! The whole town wanted her dead to stop the winter!! But he was the one who got blamed why? Because he hurt pwoor Anna's fweelings! And what did the Duke get? Oh you're not our trading partner anymore bye! Wtf!! And Hans was a heck of a better ruler than they could ever be. And Anna and Elsa's parents were terrible! Like seriously... Oh now I've started ranting.

Littlekitty567 I am kind of confused by this statement as Frozen was based off of the ice queen which the villain is the actual ice queen. Chad, I'm... gonna have to disagree on #9... especially compared to another moment from that same movie. You think Frollo sniffing Esmeralda's hair is shocking? How about the scene BEFORE that where we all see Quasimodo getting crowned the King of Fools in thunderous cheers, only to have tomatoes tossed in his face and have his body roped to a spinning table, while everyone is making fun of him? You mean to tell me that THIS moment wasn't jaw-dropping enough? Dude, poor Quasi goes from having fun, to being exposed, to being crowned and then to being humiliated in public. Phoebus tries to help but in vain; Frollo, despite his hatred for gypsies, lets them continue; only Esmeralda stood up to protect him. Like... ouch... just... ouch... I'm so sorry, but that moment shocked me a lot when I saw this in theaters, especially after a nice musical number.

Yea, that scene with Quasimodo TRAUMATIZED me!! Like even to this day, I either skip that scene or look away. But yea, I'm agreeing with JUDGMENT on this - the entire movie is jaw-dropping!! - Frollo about to kill baby Quasimodo, the humiliation of Quasimodo, Esmerelda basically pole-dancing (she is!!), Frollo LUSTING over Esmerelda on multiple occasions, the mass murders of innocent gypsies, the burning at one of the most famous cathedrals in the world, and Esmerelda and Phoebus getting together instead of with Quasimodo (which, honestly, was a big shocker to me)...yea this movie might as well have your mouth open the entire time!!

Great list! Hanz was sort of ruined for me, but I loved the plot twist with Goob in Meet the Robinsons. I so didn't expect that! And god damn Toy Story 3. Combine that incinerator scene with that ending and that movie ruined me like no other animated movie had in a LONG time.

Oops I should have finished the video before commenting because HOW COULD I FORGET ABOUT RAY! Besides Toy Story 3, that scene was the first in a long while to make me cry at an animated movie.

I ended up going home from the theater and digging out my old favorite beanie baby and playing with her for twenty minutes after toy story three... and I was 22 at the time (I think... what year was the movie again?)
