I wonder how many people have wrecked and been thrown a distance from their bike and hurt badly and can't call anyone to help because they just happen to be riding alone in the twisties. Even if they're laying beside the bike it's likely the phone will be sent a ridiculous distance into the woods from the wreck. I've traveled the united states' and only ever read the road signs and showed up to my destination every time. Keep your phone on you. Trying to read a phone screen while riding isn't the best option for most anyways.

A pair of sunglasses and a clear visor is the easiest day-to-night option, followed by a transition visor, followed by a helmet with a built in sun visor. All are good options, but I don't think it's ever a good idea to rely only on a tinted visor all the time. You need to be more versatile than that. Also, hell yes on the luggage. With age comes wisdom and a matched set of hard bags. Call me a nerd, I don't care. I can carry stuff, you can't. I win.

Now me and my partner can comfortably go for a weekend getaway with the panniers and topbox fully loaded and nothing on our backs or laps. Plus my partner can lean against the topbox as a backrest. Pro tip: make sure your trickle charger is rated for the correct batter type. Most standard chargers only support traditional lead-acid or AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries. If you have upgraded to a lithium battery (I don't think they come stock on any bikes yet), you will need the appropriate charger, ideally one that can toggle between both types. Also helps to invest in a battery with a built in jump starter for emergencies.

Regarding the photo chromatic visor, a cheap DIY alternative that I use is putting insulating black tape on the upper part of your visor, so it acts like a sun visor. For a more aesthetic finish, you could use paint instead. Works like a charm.

@emilmetallic63932 жыл бұрын
transition/photochronic/photogray visors shields are not all they’re talked up to be. depending on conditions, transition periods can last several minutes during which you may see ghost-like shadows in your visor. Your visual depth of field (sense of perspective) may also be flattened or otherwise distorted. The conditions in which these things happen include tunnels, street lights at night, and shady country roads. Even overcast sky can cause distortion in what you see through a transition visor. Essentially, any time the light is not uniform, even a little bit, your transition visor is going to transition, or at least try to.

Okay so watching this video made me come up with an invention idea and if anyone wants it, go for it. Basically its a hand warmer and a tampax pad combined so its a hand warmer that sticks to the seat of your bike right near the crotch area. If it's actually cold, as in winter, heated gloves work much better than heated grips as you have heat where you actually need it, on the back of your hands where the wind chill is . Heated grips are great if you're out riding on a nice day, and encounter some cooler temperatures, in the mountains for example, as they'll take the chill off in anything but actual cold weather.

I live in the midwest and have never used anything heated, and i ride until very late in the year just before the first major snow forecast. I am paranoid about that battery drain. Larger snowmobile gloves or latex gloves under normal ones. My current helmet has a flip down visor, good to know they have color changing ones though. My tmax has a tender wire hooked up i never use. I take the batteries out every year and no good access to plug at moment anyhow.
