@sydboski5 жыл бұрын
@@elomon3473 You'd be right if the 40 measured how fast these guys run, but it doesn't. The 40 measures quickness and partial acceleration because the really fast guys do not reach top speed til about 50m out. They are still accelerating at the 40yd mark. So the 40 cannot possible determine who is fastest when they aren't even running their fastest now can it? You need a longer distance to where they can get to full speed and maintain it for some time. The 100m dash is the only race that includes all the aspects of total speed. It has start/quickness, acceleration, top speed, and speed endurance (which slows deceleration after top speed is reached). That said, CJ2K's best 100m is 10.66. That 10.66 ranks him 71st all time in NFL history.
@gmnewbold14165 жыл бұрын
@@sydboski It's about football speed. The 40 is ABSOLUTELY a relevant metric on grass / turf. Line of scrimmage at the 30. The fastest guy to 40 yards likely *doesn't get walked down* the rest of the way to the end zone and that's what matters! Here's the measure of speed in the league in my book . . . if a guy got an ounce of daylight on you . . . by shaking you left or right . . . *could he be caught* ? I'm old enough to remember OJ Simpson playing. In OJ got a step on you, the gap just got wider . . . he literally looked like he was walking away from people who were standing still. I saw the same with Michael Vick decades later. And Deion . . . if he found a seam, it WAS A WRAP. Chris Johnson would have been a beast with a longer career. You need to respect that 4.24.
@sydboski5 жыл бұрын
@@gmnewbold1416 1. I never said the 40 wasn't a relevant metric. I said the 40 doesn't measure how fast these guys run. And it doesn't. 2. Show me where it states "football speed". Also tell me how they measure "football speed" in order to compare players not on the same field or from different eras. 3. I saw OJ play also. Yes he was fast but he didn't have Henry Carr, Deion Sanders, Darrell Green, or Terrence Newman chasing him either. There are a lot of player that once they got a step the haven't been caught. Cliff Branch, Mel Gray, Bob Hayes, Jacoby Ford, Lam Jones, Trindon Holliday, Curtis Dickey, Ron Brown just to name a few. There are plenty more. But those are highlights on film. They give you an opinion on how fast these guys are. Unfortunately speed is not an opinion. It is measurable and provable. 4. All of the REAL top 10 fastest players should have a track back ground. No track background? There is no way they should make the list. You cannot just walk on to a track with no sprint training and run world class times. It is physically impossible. It takes years of training to get to world class status. If you don't have world class speed you should not be on the list because you are not faster than a world class sprinter.

+Danny Canes Yes I am dead serious. You've never seen him caught from behind? Here look at this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4e3amSjg7KGbqM #43 from the Colts is Matt Giardano he ran 4.48 in the 40. But was a 400m champion in HS. Your boy Hester ran 4.41 in the 40 and 10.61 in the 100m. Very good speed, but not top ten worthy. Just because you never saw him caught from behind doesn't mean he should be in the top 10 all time. There have been a lot of players you haven't seen caught from behind, do they belong? Does Giardano belong? I certainly hope not. To break into the NFL's top ten fastest players of all time you would need to be a world class sprinter, and run faster than 10.10 100m. Willie Gault and Gerald Tinker are tied for 10th place on the all time 100m list.

@sydboski7 жыл бұрын
Looks can be deceiving. That's why speed is not an opinion, it is measurable. You really can't accurately judge a person's speed by just looking at them or watching them run. Everything you see them do is based on the others running with them. DJax running away from a 10.7 DB looks the same as Jerry Rice running away from even slower DB's. What some people call "the eye test" is not close to being exact.

Which converts to 10.24 fully automatic timing. 10.24 would actually rank him 4th on this list if it went by actual measured speed. Behind only Hayes 10.06, Green 10.08, and Gault 10.10. But there are players who have run faster than all of these guys that are not even on the list.

Deion was the fastest I’ve watched. They asked him one time, “hey Primetime, what’s your 40 time?” Deion replies: depends on how fast the opponent is running.. if he’s running a 4.4, I’m running a 4.3. If he’s running a 4.3, I’m running a 4.2. If he’s running a 4.2... well you get the pattern. 😂😂

One of the best examples of how fast Cliff Branch was is watching him in SBXVIII when Marcus Allen had his great run for a TD. Allen is being chased by some Redskin, and out of nowhere Branch catches them both like they're in slow motion, and provides some interference (legal) on the Redskin to slow him down and keep from possibly catching Allen. (Wouldn't have caught Allen imo, but still, possible.) But just the sheer speed of Branch, who even looked like he was cruising up to them, like he was only in 3rd gear and not even in 4th or 5th gear, was crazy fast.

@@cr7suarez256 Lol. I see you did not reply to me so I would not get the notification. I just happened to be reading a few of the older threads when I saw this sneak reply.. People can have their own opinions about whatever the want. What you fail to realize is speed is not an opinion. It is measurable and provable. Just like height and weight. You don't vote to see who is fastest, heaviest, or tallest. You time, measure, and weigh them. I ask people why they think what they think. If they want to debate after that then so be it. What is it to you?

@@anthonysmith3992 Freedom of speech? Lol. Who is denying anyone of that right? Certainly not me. You have yhe right to say what you want to. I am not denying that right. I have the right to challenge dumb comments. I sm not telling anyine to shut up like your friend cr7suarez said to me. That is trying to deny my righ to debunk the stupid comments like yours.

Willie Gault , Ron Brown of the Rams and Nehemiah of the 49s were three world class sprinters.
@sydboski6 жыл бұрын
Joe Poole Brown 10.06, tied with Bob Hayes. Gault 10.10 is tenth fastest on the REAL list of fastest players in NFL history. Skeets is not on the REAL list at 10.24, but he was faster than Sanders 10.26, Moss 10.94 early in life, Jackson 10.44, Galloway 10.35 reported, Vick (no tack experience) and Johnson 10.66.

Nehemiah was a hurdler,Brown won gold as part of a great relay team and and Gault never won a medal Hayes was the fastest human on the planet PERIOD He changed the game
@sydboski6 жыл бұрын
Dennis Falan Yes Skeets was a hurdler, but he did run the 100m too. Gault did win a gold medal in the 4x100 and a bronze medal in the hurdles in the 1983 World Championships. Hayes did change the game, but there are 4 players who have run faster.

for Nehemiah....hurdle speed is slower than straight sprinting speed....the training is totally different. it wouldn't be fair to compare the two.

I'm Not Downing Darrell Green. Darrell Green Is A Very, Very Speedster Of A Runner On The Gridiron Field, But "Bob Hayes Was A "Natural Born" Speedster!!!!!" This Athlete Represented The USA In The Olympics, Running The 100, 200, 400 Meters Dash/Relays. He Should Be Ranked #1. If GOD ALMIGHTY Would Allowed Bob Hayes And Darrell Green To Run The 100 Meters Dash In Competition, "Bullet Bob" Would Bypass Green As If He Was Standing Still. Yes!!!! "Darrell Green Is Extremely Fast!!!!" The Rank# Should Have Been: #1- Bob Hayes And #2 Darrell Green.
@sydboski6 жыл бұрын
Hayes ran 10.06 100m. Green ran 10.08. Jacoby Ford 10.01, Jeff Demps 10.01. Trindon Holliday 10.00. Jim Hines the man who broke the world record in the 100m 2x after Hayes and the first man to officially break the 10 second barrier ran 9.95. He also has 2 gold medals 100m and 4x100m relay.

if you believe Bo ran sub 4.2 you're deluding yourself, that was hand timed. Bo was incredibly fast for his size, but if he was electronically timed I'd say it would read 4.3. Which is stupid when he's that damned big.
