Agreed with #1. The GoPro effect is real. West Side is so much harder in person vs watching it. The only obstacle that would be in my top 10 that I would swap out would be the initial rock garden into the 7W drop in. That entire rock garden is so techy, offcamber, always changing with erosion, etc. The washed out bridge climb (what you referred to as New Bridge) is probably much higher on the list for most.

Good point on the 7W drop in. It's a tough start to loop 7. As for the washed out bridge (now New Bridge) hill on 5W, yeah that's a tough one. Could be ranked a little higher than 5.

Never really thought of TX as having tech trails. Not sure why... But pleasantly surprised. I'm a PA guy and yeah, we got the rocks. I love your idea of rating the trail features. That's a cool idea. I was close to getting the Ripley, but I'm a bit bigger guy so I went with the Ripley's big brother, the Ripmo. I love the bike, but do wish I could at least try out a Ripley. One Day.

Yeah if I had enough $$ I’d have a Ripley and a Ripmo. But the Ripley runs lighter- good for an ol geezer like me.

Yeah had to name that #1 feature dead man walking. Bruises and few torn body parts have happened there for me.

Ran into you and your brother out there a while back. Multiple choice rock gardens. I picked the wrong line on the far right and OTB. Finger still healing three months later. Sometimes over 60 sucks:)

My riding friends were already good riders when I first started, and they all rode NS West so I didn't have much choice when I was learning. I left some skin out there in the beginning, but now it's my favorite trail. As for breaks - I stop a lot! Especially this time of year. And regarding hydration - I can ride NS West with 1.5L during the cooler Spring/Fall but in the summer like now I carry a 3L bag with ice and Nuun tablets. That generally does the trick for me.
