I don't care what Dr. Gundry says about lectins, I am going to eat beans and tomatoes for the rest of my life. I've Eaton them so far and I'm fine. @@tamitatangoto5134 Hello, just because something tastes good doesn't mean it should be consumed; In the case of tomatoes and beans, I don't think it's something you should never eat (because apparently your body doesn't react badly to them), but it's probably something you don't want to have as one of your main foods, especially if you want to be as healthy as possible. That's my opinion. I love tomatoes.

Oxalates are much more dangerous than lectins. Lectins can be detoxed from the body easily but oxalates are very difficult to clear out and if you remove them too quickly or go on too low an oxalate diet suddenly, you can experience a lot of unpleasant effects. Sally K. Norton has a book TOXIC SUPERFOODS. EONutrition has the best talks on oxalate dangers.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 🧠 MSG, or monosodium glutamate, can be an excitotoxin when consumed in large amounts, overwhelming and damaging brain cells, potentially affecting individuals differently. 05:25 🐟 Certain fish, particularly large predatory ones like tuna and swordfish, can contain high levels of mercury, which can be toxic to the brain. 08:39 🍷 Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to brain shrinkage, especially in heavy drinkers, and it can contribute to gut-brain axis issues and insulin resistance. 13:52 🍬 Artificial sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose can be neurotoxic, potentially causing brain damage, and may even lead to increased cravings and insulin resistance. 21:51 🌾 Grains, particularly those with lectins like wheat, can promote a leaky gut and affect the gut-brain axis, potentially leading to health issues. 27:55 🍟 Avoid fried foods, especially those prepared with unhealthy oils and excessive reuse, as they can harm mitochondria, increase inflammation, and promote insulin resistance. 28:10 🧁 Sugar is the top brain-damaging food, as it causes insulin resistance, a leading factor in dementia. Sugar contains fructose, which can lead to a fatty liver and metabolic issues. 28:35 🍚 While carbohydrates contain glucose, sugar's 50% fructose content makes it particularly harmful, contributing to metabolic epidemics when added to diets in excess. 29:24 🍭 Sugar is highly addictive, leading to overeating, more insulin resistance, and an imbalance in the gut microbiome, affecting the gut-brain axis. 29:51 🍰 The harmfulness of sugar lies in the dosage; it has become a major health issue due to its widespread consumption as a staple in diets. I had stayed away from any products containing Aspartame as that they cause me to have the most excruciating headache that lasts over 24 hours. Now.. quite recently I was experiencing non stop itching that was lasting for a week! I was almost eager to dismiss it to my MS but this was just beyond my typical symptoms. I later found out that what was new in my diet was a particular food where they use Sucralose. Now I stay away from that too.

Honestly, the more of this evidence I see from Dr Ekberg, the more I feel sugar should become illegal to be used in processed foods & restricted under licence for sale by retailers! It's like we now KNOW the pitfalls of addiction, yet it's legal to become addicted!

If the lectins in tomatoes are reason for concern, then beans, chickpeas and lentils would be even worse. Is that so?

The first ingredient in the oil that restaurants use for frying is soybeans and the list goes on. And restaurants clean/ filter that oil and use it for about 3 days. After seeing this practice in use, I pretty much gave up on fried foods. 😎
