I love you sir. You’ve helped me get my life in order. 33 year old black male, overweight and doctors told me it’s genetics. Blood pressure, cholesterol all in good shape. 180 from 250 in weight by following your videos.
@theophilusconnor Жыл бұрын
It’s “easy” to fix those issues: diet and exercise. 4 months of diet and a little more exercising and my weight dropped 220 to 180, blood pressure 140/90 to 120/80, blood sugar A1C 7.7 to 5.8, and cholesterol 220 to 160. I almost totally cut out bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, sugar, soda and fast food from my diet. I craved soda for a while, I remember that.

@@theophilusconnor what are you eating then?
@theophilusconnor Жыл бұрын
@@rmcf3972 Back then I ate mainly meat (very little beef, though), sardines, vegetables, eggs, fruit, and salad... often had a large bowl of oatmeal with dried cherries and walnuts for breakfast, a pound of steamed vegetables every day (no added salt or cheese or butter). No fried food, no french fries, no cheeseburgers ever. If I had pizza it was very thin crust and would toss away half the crust anyway. A few crackers and peanut butter for a snack. 2 oranges and 2 apples about 4 nights a week. Overall it wasn't too hard. I didn't starve myself, just ate less fat and carbs (diet was motivated by diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes). I'd say I cut my food intake by 1/4 to 1/3, and walked a good bit more. I lost 20 lbs the first month, then 20 more over the next few months. At 180 I felt light, but was also weak and kinda skinny - didn't like the feeling. I'm back up to 210 now, and eating a more typical, unhealthy American diet, including fast food and desserts and potatoes, etc.

For veal. And BOY! What an eye opener. I Loved veal parmesan. Stopped eating it dead in the tracks. Not do to Inhuman calf treatment,. Not enough.. but it was i learned what I was putting into my body. You only get one. And it has to last. And it will be good if we take care of it. Water? I add a couple of lemon drops(real) or berry drops. All sorts of creative ways to stay hydrated in a tasty but healthy way.

I'm not a "conspiracy-thinker" , but seeing how much sugar is dumped in this world to all people, I start to wonder: WHY and to what purpose the industry keeps on doing this? Is it all just for the money? Is the sugar industry in fact also the owner of the pharmaceutical industry (and a hand full of politicians!)? I mean, is the solution to this problem brought to us by the same people that CAUSED all the health problems, so they can make money on both sides? Well, there's a thought! What I would like to say is thank you for changing my mindset by getting healthy rather than thinking only to lose weight. This is really the secret that is hidden to most people. Being healthy is difficult to me before with all the temptations out there in every corner and in every occasion. People eat McDonald's now a days and order apple juice with the meal and they think they ate a normal nutrius meal. I have changed my mindset as it became the new foundation stone for the life style and I am really happy, why ? Because I don't feel deprived any more and even not hungry, instead more focused and healthier. All those past years we were living in an ignorance and watching our beloved ones get diagnosed by diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, cardio vasculaire diseases, and the list goeas on and on and on... Thinking that it is eventually every person path way and there are now ways to get out it or live healthy for the rest of our lives.

1. How about Bubly? I'm talking about regular bubbly, the kind with zero sweetener of any kind, and no caffeine. I prefer Blackberry, Orange, Lemon, Mango, Raspberry, etc.. Orange and Lemon are impossible to find anymore. 2. I was always used to having coffee with Cremora or Coffeemate creamer, and standard table sugar. I brew my coffee very strong, using 1.8 to 2.0 times as many beans as recommended, dark roasts, fresh ground right before brewing. In a 24 oz. Thermos of that coffee, I used to use 4 teaspoons of sugar and 12 teaspoons of creamer. Over the years, I've cut back to 2 teaspoons of sugar and 8 teaspoons of creamer. I'll have one of those Thermoses of coffee per day. I always preferred powdered creamer because it didn't make the coffee cold. 3. Soda - I prefer regular 7UP and Canada Dry Bold, both of which have high fructose corn syrup. However, AT MOST I have one 12 oz. can every other day. 4. Gatorade - I only drink regular Gatorade, Orange, 20 oz., AT MOST one a day and only that much on the hottest, most humid summer days. If it's not super hot and humid, the only reason I'll have it at all is to take it a sip with vitamins so they go down more easily. Gatorade seems to be slippery and causes vitamins to go down without getting stuck in my throat. 5. Iced Tea - I like Pure Leaf Iced Tea with Lemon, 16.9 oz.. It has regular sugar. If I have one of those, it's at most one a day. I NEVER drink what they call sweet tea because it's far, far, far too sweet for me. Other than coffee, of the things I listed above, if I have one kind, I won't have any of the other kinds. 6. Beer - I drink regular beer, e.g. Sam Adams Boston Lager or one of their seasonal varieties like Oktoberfest, Jack-O, Old Fezziwig, Porch Rocker, etc., and at most I'll have one or two of those before bed, and not every night. Usually it ends up just being one beer before bed.

I am an almost 70 woman with 5 ft stature and carry too any extra lbs. I have struggled with extra weight since my early teens when knowledge of sugar’s negatives were not very prevalent. I have also lived my life with some sort of food restriction and a very active sweet tooth. I drink 1 cup of coffee per day with ethrytol and stevia sweetener and cream but the rest of my day is plain warm water with a T of lemon juice or green/ chamomile tea, no added ingredients. For a treat I have about 4 ounces of ginger ale soda. In summer I make my own green tea beverage without added anything, just chilled. I have dealt with IR since my mid childbearing years . I continue to learn and try to control the sweet tooth and treat my body with love.

One summer I got in the habit of having (original) Coke instead of coffee. I kept a carton of cans in the fridge at all times; as a result I drank 2-3 cans a day nearly every day. After awhile I started getting the most unbelievable muscle cramps that would come almost out of nowhere. Absolutely excruciating and unstoppable for several minutes at a time. Stopped drinking Coke. 25 years ago, I was addicted to Diet Coke when it had aspartame in it. I had no conscious limit and drank many of them a day. Slowly, I started getting weak & shaky, almost MS-type symptoms. I ran into a researcher at work one day who was doing a paper about aspartame and it’s neurological effects on humans. I read the paper & decided to stop drinking Diet Coke. To my surprise, the neurological symptoms I had reversed in less than 3 weeks. I only drink water, coffee with stevia & real heavy cream (2 cups in the morning), or unsweetened tea. I’m convinced that all these drinks are slowly killing us in one way (sugar) or the other (chemicals).
@dr.strange6458 Жыл бұрын
Do not use stevia, aspartame or other sugar substitutes as they are TRANS molecules which your body cannot digest; which means they produce free radicals..Free Radicals become cancer. The body can only digest CIS molecules such as regular organic sugar, however a healthy choice is brown sugar, but use it to a minimum. I learned to drink my tea with no sugar which I love and coffee with a little bit of milk. Cheers.

Because we drink coke in the one and only meal of the day, occasionally and we had to split it with my other siblings and cousins, so we didn't get to drink much. Here in the U.S. When I was young I use to drink soda, but just ocassionaly. I have no idea but I never really liked it. 5 years ago I started to drink more unsweetened tea and tisanes. I love my tea plain. No sweetener added. When I drink coffee I sweetened with stevia or sucannat, but I don't like it too sweet. My problem is that I love cookies. Thank you Dr. Ekberg for another gem of knowledge. I have been following you for a couple of years now (and with great results) and everytime i think i know everything there is to know about a topic, sugars in this case, you upload a video and explain the finer points about it. As I always say, you are truly a gift to mankind doctor. Thank you once again. Your lectures should be part of school curriculam so that kids can learn the right thing before the food and pharma industry corrupts their minds.

In college, I stopped drinking all drinks but water and lost 15lbs from that alone. I still have no idea why I decided to do it one day, I just realized I didn’t need it. I saw from that how much weight sugary drinks kept on me.

I bet your wallet got heavier, I too drink water or unsweetened coffee in the AM. I make that coffee at home as well. I can't imagine how much money people waste at Starbucks and Juice shops. I figure I can take at least one really nice vacation a year with the money saved.

73 and have lost 15 pounds over the last year. Have been following healthy keto diet with IF. Nothing crazy but a fairly disciplined routine. My inflammatory joint, muscular and vein disease has improved greatly. Blood work now normal. My next goal is to get off the small statin dose they put me on last year. Doable IMO.

Do some research on statins and you will probably take yourself off now.😉

This is such an extremely good explanation about sugars and the different types there are and why one is worse than the other. This is the first time that this is explained so well

Thank you doctor. I now only drink black coffee & lemon water & plain water. If I feel like something sweet, I add a bit of organic cinnamon to the water. It wasn't easy to get accustomed to, but after a while - you get used to it. So far, so good & I'm on month 4 👍

When I was a kid at school, they had milk every day and on Friday they had chocolate milk. That was a big treat. It was a big deal. And soda pop was something you had on occasion, but very rarely. I have now seen babies with their bottles filled with pop or chocolate milk. Toddlers waddling around carrying a bottle full of that crap. It is so sad. What are parents thinking?

I'm kinda freaked out and amazed by Dr Ekberg's backwards handwriting facing the screen. Impressive. Never seen anyone do that on KZbin before.

Yeah. And even the rear writting is special too. He points the finger at the writting so it must have not been edited later on in the video and words keep zooming in whenever required. So great.

@Hitesh Marvaniya it's mirrored later. That's why the sugar bag writing is mirrored.

Dr. Sten, I bought some almond drink from Sam's Club 2months ago. I thought , oh almond milk, that should be good for me ! When I got home and looked at the ingredients I found out there was actually NO almond in it at all Mostly sugar,and almond flavor ! Need to be VERY CAREFUL with this stuff ! Mike.

Thank you very much Dr. Ekberg for your free KZbin health videos. I hope you could make another version of your good and bad food healtn videos for us seniors. The version should be shorter (not more than 20 mins for easier retention of information. Less technical terms, shorter explanation and witn a brief text summary of the main information at the end of the video. Thank you for your consideration Dr. Ekberg. God bless !

Because it was common to add Bromide to the drinks. People would feel tipsy but the real damage was to the thyroid. If Iodine is low, Fluoride, Chloride, Bromide or other Halides will reside there. We've always been poisoned for different reasons but it's much worse today.

My grandparents also called sodas dopes...of course my grandma remembered the time when coca-cola had actual cocaine in it, so the term was accurate when she was a child.

Great video. One needs to also highlight that such drinks are not only bad for your body but are sold in single use containers, so these chemical cocktails are bad for your body and the earth.

A friend of mine dropped 60 pounds in less than a year. The only change he made to his diet was, he eliminated drinking Coca-Cola. But there was a problem. He had to buy all new clothes.

I had a real struggle to stay away from coca Cola, especially the vanilla edition. But now that i have changed my habit, and replaced it by water, the craving has gone away and i also lost a few pounds as well.

This is the best channel I have seen regarding nutrition. I'm 38, with following his videos and some knowledge I've had prior to these videos (which is congruent with what he says) I went from a blood pressure from 140/90 to just under 120/80 in over a week. Cut out all bad food overnight, I measured my blood pressure 5 times a day, I could see it fluctuate down-wards every day. For the last 3 days it has been an average below 120/80. I did have minor migraines and hunger pangs but I think that is just due to my body adapting not eating so much sugar and processed carbs.
