Well maybe if mankind wouldn’t destroy their habitats (or any other animal’s) then maybe we wouldn’t need so many zoos and cages to put them in….

I've had a lifelong p a s s I o n for Nature & ALL animals...Particularly Great apes, especially Orangutan...I was really touched watching the sweet guy "washing the window"....I've seen chimpanzees (rescued from a life of very cruel bio-experimentation/medical research) at one of the best chimp sanctuaries in the world, "NSW Chimp Sanctuary") in the state of Washington, doing something similar....Washing floors with buckets of water & brushes, as they see their devoted caretakers doing it everyday...The profound intelligence of Great Apes has always fascinated me beyond words...

Very intelligent animals, and yet we still imprison them for our entertainment and research, regardless of how that limits their freedom and right to live wild and free. Save the rain forests and let them live there!

Unfortunately, their natural habitat has been decimated by palm oil plantations. The heartbreaking stories of orphaned orangutans that end up in Rehab centers in Borneo and Sumatra are endless. At least here they are safe and well looked after. The zoo staff does an excellent job at giving them a good quality of life.

Hi there! Unfortunately due to the human activities that have impacted these animals’ habitats, Zoos and other conservation facilities have been critical in conservation efforts to help these animals in the wild. A great example would be Captive Breeding and Reintroduction programs that are key efforts in helping restore wild populations in their native range. Zoolife partners with these accredited facilities and 50% of each pass directly funds conservation efforts worldwide.

@@zoolifetv I understand but it still doesn’t take away the boredom and mental suffering these animals endure for the sake of their species.😢

The orangutans are given new enrichment everyday (enrichment being puzzles games and activities) and from personal experience from being at the zoo I assure you that they are just as happy there as they would be in the wild. Not only that but the Orangutans are given good food and care from the staff there. They also have a big climbing set to keep them active as well. Last but not least the animals have a big enough space to play and to hang out with each other
@gagek1233

And 1 more thing if I may add. The Toronto zoo (which this is from) cares about the orangutans so much that they are only making it better. They are building an outdoor habitat for them. So eventually they will have even MORE space and new enrichment! :)

All the evidence proves how intelligent and sentient the 'man of the forest' is. And yet inconsiderate humans continue evicting them from their homes. Anyone who buys or uses anything that relies on such inhumane and unconscionable treatment of these - or any other - creatures is complicit in and an accomplice to those acts.

Definitely! It is very unfortunate how human activities have impacted these animals’ homes. @@zoolifetv It's more than 'unfortunate'. It's diabolic and despicable. The ever increasing destruction of 'dumb' animals is a direct result of the inability / unwillingness of humans to curb their own procreation. The 'unfortunate' thing is that conservation efforts are simply prolonging the inevitable. When 'mamon' demands, their lands and resources will be taken for 'better' uses. The human race is the architect of its own demise.

Unfortunately it's pretty difficult to tell sometimes. There are a bunch of different terms for palm oil. It's made intentionally difficult. There are apps you can use to check, but they don't always have every product. And if something doesn't have palm oil, it can still have a negative impact. If coconut oil becomes as popular as palm oil, it will need to be grown more intensely and could cause similar problems. There's sustainable palm oil, but it tends to go back and forth how sustainable it really is. Canola/sunflower oil take up more land/water, but at least they don't need to be grown in the tropics. And that's just one issue of many. And a lot of people don't have the time to research everything. So I think people should do what they can. But rather than blaming individuals for being complicit, blame the government for not regulating these issues. I guess you can blame individuals for how they vote.
@trueaussie9230
@trueaussie9230 Жыл бұрын
@@justforplaylists How any individual of 'responsible age' acts (votes) - and the results / outcomes of those actions - is entirely their own responsibility. It's puerile to blame anyone else. What you're saying is 'ooohh, it's too hard, 😭 someone else should do it for me 😭'. Democratic governments exist to implement the will of the majority of the people - not to act as a replacement mummy. If you want YOUR government to do more / different, you must make that known. No farming practices are truly 'sustainable' because they ALL require 'modification' of the natural environment. As the world's human population increases more natural environment must be sacrificed to support them. There are already far too many humans on the earth to be able to live in harmony with nature - or with each other. And 1000s more are produced every day, while fewer and fewer are dying thanks to improved health care. You can spend all day / your whole life looking for someone else to 'blame' (and nothing will change) or you can take FULL responsibility for yourself and actually DO something constructive.

@@trueaussie9230 Put it this way. I work 9-5. I have difficulty blaming the working poor, who probably work multiple minimum wage jobs, have to spend much longer commuting than I do, and can't afford childcare, for not also spending hours checking every product label against a list of 35 different chemical names.
