I've had GREAT success teaching Bohnanza like that! The player aides are so good that you can just demonstrate one turn and then tell everyone else to start!

I found it's really group dependant. With the wrong group (or even just one wrong player), it can crash and burn.

And with the reprinted version of the game that will be out next year, there is a shortened version of each scenario that has been tested a lot and will have its own scenario cards.

The basic design of "Dune Imperium" is great and thematic, but (the release of) "Uprising" messed it up for me, I almost hate it now. The expansions are also not to my liking.

I might be in the vast minority, but i absolutely despised Destinies. I love love love narrative driven games, I love RPGs and multi choice stories, but Destinies failed to appeal to me on all aspects, save for the app, it's good even tho it has a few flaws. Every time I think about it, I i go back on BGG and lower my score. I never sold a game faster and cheaper than I did Destinies, i just wanted it out of my house

I think the number 10s highlight one of the reasons they still do this. There are games that just don’t make other lists that are fun to highlight. Not saying these lists are amazing, but for me I just love any excuse to sit and watch them talk about games they like and this gives them a chance to mention some new ones. Too me it’s more useful than “what I’m excited for at Essen”, because I don’t really care about new stuff that will be forgotten a year from now.

I'm not sure they're trying to be useful lists. Tom enjoys making the most esoteric and "useless" top 10s. And the banter makes them enjoyable. A Top 10 doesn't need anything else, to me.

@@sarumon17 Yeah that makes sense. It's one of the reasons I really enjoy Tom's look-back videos. Maybe the team could do something like the top 10-20 games of each year.

@@lohengrindrd I’m sure the DT is doing there best to make things as interesting as possible. I think they are afraid of repeating lists too often, though I wouldn’t mind if they did with different people. I loved a few years ago the top 2 player games lists they made, but would be interested in different panel of reviewers.
