I come to you from an even further future to respond that DICE choose wisely after their second Battlefront game had a disaster of a launch. After the backlash the devs decided to listen to the fan feedback and I would argue the current Battlefront game in my time surpasses the original. I literally played both the 2017 and 2005 Battlefronts back to back to test this and although I did enjoy playing the 2005 game, its starting to show its age, at least in my time.

Anita Sarkeesian...mentioned in an Angry Joe video...I think I need to sit down for a moment. I think you missed the point of why people are outraged at her Joe. There is so much I can say about her. Anyone who even bothered to look up the controversies that surround her will understand why. And I'm not talking about opinions...but cold, hard facts and the many contradictions, lies, twisting of data, and other things that have arose since this all started...even some before. I'll be honest, I don't like her but I don't think she should have gotten that overreaction. If she honestly thinks that there is something wrong, it is in her right to express herself...but the way she is going about all of this is so highly questionable, that it seems like something about her is discovered almost every month that contradicts her and discredits her. It's really a shame since I was actually looking forward to her "Women vs Tropes" video series. I may be a guy, but I'm not blind or deaf to intellectual conversation.That's actually how I initially found her, since I thought I would find it there. I guess none of this will matter anyway. The public only sees that she, a female, was attacked by male gamers, which I have to question as well, and nothing else. That's what was put on the news and that's the only thing people seem to care about. I've done my research on her to make sure I'm getting my facts straight. I even conducted some independent research where I listed the number and ratio of characters and their genders in the majority of games I own (around 170 now) to get a better picture of all of this. And I'm still adding on to it with every new game I get. I'm just getting tired of this subject since I'm automatically the one in the wrong since I oppose her. Regardless, interesting video. A lot of crap really did happen this year alone. Lucky number 13, right?

I actually embarked on a KZbin adventure following this video, a "Quest for Anita" you might say... and discovered that there is an almost universal revulsion towards her from the gaming community, and for apparently good reason. Joe makes some valid points about trolls in the internet community, but it's nearly impossible to watch Anita's videos as a gamer and not cringe in agony at the blanket terms and generalizations she makes towards gamers. Anita Sarkeesian isn't a feminist. She is using feminism to get rich. She knows nothing about feminism or its grass roots. I'd be lying if I said I didn't admire her ability to manipulate people. The problem isn't that she's silencing offensive comments and concerned about threats made against her, that is more than reasonable and understandable. It's that she's also silencing any one who has legitimate criticisms of her viewpoint, which is why no one's ever seen her in any kind of debate (because she would be soundly defeated). The whole point of feminism is about making sure women have equality, and are equally respected. It's not about putting women ahead of men, and reversing the inequality. Except Anita's oppinions are largely (this is coming from a girl, not a man) wrong and she using various tactics to confuse her viewers. Things she has shown were taken out of context by a large degree and the way she words her observations are confusing and made to mislead. Also she dissed Fem!Shep, who is the better Shepard in Mass effect. If anything, Male Shepard is a Mrs. Man, cause he's horrible. His voice actor is lack luster in all three games and it really grates on the mood. All the lines are pretty much the same, and Fem!Shep's voice actress out shined him. Also, Fem!Shep has the better romance option, which is Garrus. Tali was cute, but she couldn't compare to the romance with Garrus. It could have been just as good, but again, Male!Shep's voice actor was lack luster and it damaged the charm.

Daniella Dahoui While I do agree that the overdramatic backlashing against Anita is unecessary at the least, there's still the case of how the money Anita got from her kickstarter has been put into use. Its been proven in her videos that she doesnt do the research on the games she features and that she uses gameplay clips without crediting them to their respective owners. There's also her claiming in a number of her interviews that she says to be a fan of gaming but in one particular video clip she admits otherwise and on her twitter claims to have a love-hate releationship to gaming. So there's still some missing pieces there that people seem to overlook in regards to her character and what she stands for.

Now, in regards to #3 Anita, I feel you kinda skewed the controversy a little. I understand the point you were making was about the trolls and emotionally-charged responses, but there were plenty of opposing opinions that were far more logical than you lead on. Thunderf00t, was a pretty good one, and while I disagree with plenty of what he has said in other videos, he was pretty spot on in his three part video. I also made a video, but honestly I think his was better. A difference in perspective is one thing, but she had numerous logical fallacies within her videos and belief structure, which is where much of the more valid opposition comes from. What I mean to say is that you led on that there were less valid opinions being expressed than there actually were with your examples. There were dozens of good examples of rational response videos to her series. I also didn't appreciate your generalized condescension. That's not cool. Overall, I like this episode. She backs up her opinions with facts about geek culture in general and it's history. Not only that but she discusses her opinions in a constructive manner. She never insults her audience or blames them for liking the things she finds offensive. All she is doing is providing a different perspective on video games. So attacking her seems out of line and outrageous. She is just a person reviewing gaming, and she has the right to post it online without getting harassed. Just like Angry Joe has the right to post this video online without getting similar treatment, too.

Heather N Except she doesn't research her opinions. What you are watching when viewing her videos is conformation bias. She starts off with the conclusion that games are sexist, then she LOOKS for examples in whatever she can find to back up her preconceived notions. When you perform research, you make a hypothesis, then you experiment and/or research, collect data, review and summarize the data, and develop the conclusion. And she is dishonest to boot. Remember that whole Dino Planet thing she was complaining about? That it was Crystals game, but was rehashed to That god awful Star Fox game to star a male character, and she used this as an example of developers ignoring or abandoning female leads? Well, funny how she never mentions Crystal's brother who was supposed to star with her, while she edited the trailer and gameplay footage to only ever show Crystal. This is the reason why people hate Anita, because she is twisting this shit around to fulfill a victim spotlight to gain sympathy.

dragonheart967 Unfortunately, it is impossible for any kind of media to not be sexist. I don't particularly like how males are represented in some games, and I feel that is an affront to me, sure. But then, that is my opinion, and whether or not there are facts behind it, it doesn't change the fact that what I perceive to be sexist is different to how someone else perceives something to be sexist. As such, I trust the words of someone called "Feminist Frequency" as much as I would someone called "Women are Shit." It seems unhinged.

Daemoshiin Belmont You would need to give examples of what you think men are shown to be portrayed in ways that may be sexist, because from what I have seen, a surprising amount of people continuously misuse the term sexism. Exploitation and sexualization of any character regardless of gender is not sexism, they are exploitation and sexualization. For something to be sexist, it would need to be a clear or subtle dislike of the gender as a whole, such as intentionally making all female characters unbearable bitches and just outright terrible portrayals of what a female character would act, and the same goes for male characters as well. When we clear this mix in vocabulary up, we see that not everything people claim is sexist are sexist thing, what we see are just negative aspects to characters or the use of popularized norms of our culture within given areas(our culture isn't 100% the same all over the country, some areas are just plain different than others).

This may be just an isolated case that won't repeat, or it may be the start of a trend. When the complainers and their followers see that petitions do have an actual effect on these things, what do you think they will do?
