Beat em ups were huge in early 90s because Arcades existed.devs knew beat em ups were the money makers at that time.

My favourite is DD on the GB, but that's a digression. These games can't be complicated to make. I wonder if an AI could create new levels and stories of our favourites, because follow-ups often lack the charm or sensibility of the ones we especially like.

Nice vid! My list is almost the same. I would have replaced Xmen2 and Captain America with Splatterhouse 2 & 3 There is an Action-adventure RPG on Sega called Beyond Oasis. The only reason I'm mentioning it here is because the combat is like a Beat 'em Up! Check it out!

I have never played splatterhouse, honestly, and never heard of Beyond Oasis, so I will have to check to see if I have that rom and give it a try.

@@UrCasualGamer Splatterhouse 3 is the best! It's got a creepy factor. I must have completed Beyond Oasis 10 times. It has a prequel game on Sega Saturn called Legend Of Oasis. Also really good.

My guy. Action platformers are not beat-em-ups. X-men clone wars and Shinobi 3 are not beat em ups, alien storm is stretching it as well. The rest of the games you listed fit the genre.
