It's good to be reminded of these things. My hardest has always been accepting that a goalkeeper can be beaten. I've always looked back at any goal I'velet in whether it was or wasn't through a mistake. I just cannot accept being beaten and always feel that I should have done better. Therefore looking back at a previous save is always a good thing and to give yourself a pat on the back for the great save. I've always been one to let in the simple and to save the impossible. One of my greatest saves ended with me in hospital with broken ribs and a collapsed long. The forward came down with both knees on my side, got up and walked away. Watching the vifeo footage afterwards, I couldn't see why he hadn't jumped over me. I guess those are the breaks of being a goalkeeper.

I'm watching this to feel better. Just got done with a highschool game, was held down by other team's forward as she "fell" on me and was having "trouble" getting up. They didn't score on that, but I almost bashed her face in. So I'm here to become better and make sure no other team scores and if they cheat like that, they might catch a couple elbows.

I struggle with knowing where to pass from a goal kick.
@DavidHaynesGK4 жыл бұрын
Hey Brett! That depends on a number of things including how your team like to play. Do you have a coach? And things like how comfortable are your defenders on the ball. If they are then you should be confident to play short. Other factors that could influence this is the state of the game, how much time is left? Is it an unnecessary risk? And simple things, like does the defender want the ball short - this you can ask, if he says yes then trust him, otherwise go long. Ask yourself these types of questions and you'll make the right decision. Safe hands Brett!

@@ettoreminoja8630 Ah, I see. That happens to all of us, there are days when you feel unstoppable and your confidence is high! Other times it just doesn't happen, sometimes you don't even jump, or react how you'd like right? The best advice I've found for this is try to keep the same routine for when you do play well. Try to do the same thing before games and training. It will also have a lot to do with your mood, so I always try to liven myself up and reset my mood if I've had a bad day at work/school. Always try to think back on the positive moments. Some people even have a mantra that they repeat to themselves to keep them focussed... They repeat, 'I'm number one, nothing can get past me'... They keep saying that over and over again it keeps you focused and positive. Try that and let me know how you get on! Safe hands pal! :) x

Very usefull tips but you forgot some ones so important and that make difference... * develop your both feet skills for controling and passing, short and long... foot technique is fundamentall for modern gks. * Positioning is a key... before moves! Adapt your position horizontally and above all vertically. * Manage your stress and emotions. Keep calm and determined, to allways take right decisions... * weigh risks and aim for security... * develop your tactical skills for defensive and offensive game phases, distribution... * foresee and anticipate. The gk has to make plans, imagine quickly all possible cases and find answers to each one. Be ready for any situation

That's a tough situation, if the striker has enough time to do that then I'd question where the defence is. Ah, that's a tricky one. It's always a challenge to decide what technique to use. It's very dependent on the situation. You get better at making that decision with practicing more... over time you'll know if you can catch it or have to block it away. I think if it's coming at you try to catch it, practice that over and over and you'll become a very safe and reliable keeper!

@@jojoliterally practice. Also, oddly enough you need to get hit by the ball a few times in the chest. You'll soon overcome it when you realise if youre in a good body position it won't hurt you. Until you realise that on a deeper level you'll continue to flinch. Perhaps even as an exercise get someone to hit it at your chest at 50% power and let it hit you. Obviously be careful but it will help you realise you're tougher that you give yourself credit for :)
