Kouros is what men should smell like. It's so very good. YSL really knew what they were doing in the 80s-90s. Jazz is great too. I need to get myself a man and make him wear Kouros. Guy from Maiami Vice is Don Johnson I think. I might be wrong tho

Nice list. Drakkar Noir epitomizes the 80s though. I first smelled it in one of those peel back cologne inserts in an issue of GQ back in around 1983 and I was hooked. Also, Tuscany by Aramis was/is a classic, IMO.

Great video. In the Miami Vice episode Heart of Darkness, Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) is seen to use Patou Pour Homme. The other main character Ricardo Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas) appears to use the great Grey Flannel by Geoffrey Beene.

JAZZ & MINOTAURE my all time signature scents. Inhave JAZZ in the cube bottle but it can't be compared with the vintage bottle. I would also add Versace and cerruti 1881

Enjoyed your list, obviously you have access to many interesting frags that to be honest I've never heard of but hope one day have the opportunity to get my nose on. Out of my collection your selections of Fahrenheit, Jazz, Antaeus, Kouros, Xeryus all in top 10 80's also, like others have commented I'd add Drakkar Noir and Obsession, plus Bijan Men, Boss No 1, Cool Water (understand why you left it out but have to put it in due to it's personal impact, Gen X'r like yourself), hon. mentions Lacoste (original) and Lapidus PH. What an era, I'd be interested to see you also do a 90's list, dynamic and innovative decade in fragrances, dynamic and innovative decade in general...

Calvin by Calvin Klein. Got me lots of compliments and tail in the early 90s but came out in the 80s. Nothing smells like it and was sophisticated clean and magnetic. Was hoping you would feature but great list.

I’m absolutely in love with Agua Brava. Thanks for the recommendation! It’s one of my top three, and the wife loves it more than all the others in my wardrobe. Have you had a chance to smell vintage (made in US) Bowling Green? That’s the #1 from the 80’s in my book. You have exquisite taste.

Le Troisième Homme, great fragrance, great film; bought the fragrance,watched the film ( many times) ,bought the t-shirt; then my wife asked me if I was having a mid-life crisis: don't know but the fragrance smells wonderful and that's what matters. Ps Watch the film on the biggest screen possible, that's what it was made for.

From my collection and from what I've tried, my 10 (alphabetical order) would be: Alfred Sung Sung Homme, Aramis Tuscany PU, Creed GIT, Davidoff Zino, Dior Fahrenheit, Giorgio Beverly Hills Giorgio for Men, Jacomo de Jacomo, Loewe Esencia PH (EDT), Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui and Ted Lapidus Lapidus PH. Kouros, Dunhill Edition and Drakkar Noir would be my honorable mentions. Cheers!

kouros,armani,minotaur,tabac,and xeryus especially ,were my main ones...hated jazz...had fahrenheit and it was ok...90's and up went onto all polo versions,ck one, even brut and old spice plus mixed with 80's list.

Floris Elite reminds me of the holiday section of KMart or Walmart with the decorative pine cones borderline toothpaste smell that clove is like peppermint almost it wasnt my thing I actually threw it away . Xeryus smells almost exactly like Enrico Coveri . Jules is not a blind buy unless you like super challenging fragrances .

I think you mean Don Johnson (Miami Vice). Unfortunately the bottle of Fahrenheit I purchased in spring 2023 is not that great anymore. For me it has nothing to do with the releases of yesteryear (I got to know it as a school boy in the early 2000s).
