Disguising for the fact that , just stats are considered while rating but not skills . Roger Federer is definitely better skilled player than the baseliners like Rafa or Nole Fact is that Fed was a serve and volley player who grew up on fast courts and had to adapt to courts being slowed down massively. It's also a known fact that the courts were slowed down to accommodate the baseliners and long rallies

Just by winning more grandslams Nadal can not be rated as 2nd best.First of all number of weeks ranking as number one player is the most crucial factor to decide whether one can be rated as the best along with winning Year ending ATP championship.So Nadal can never be rated superior to either Djokovic or Federer in those aspects.Djokovic was number one for 373 weeks,followed by Federer 310 weeks,Pete Sampras 286 weeks,Ivan Lendl 270 weeks,Jimmy Connors 268 weeks and Rafael Nadal 209 weeks. Year ending finals where top eight players participate is called as ATP finals. Federer won 6 times,followed by Djokovic,Ivan Lendl,Pete Sampras 5 titles each.Nadal never won even once the ATP finals loosing twice, beaten by Roger Federer in 2010 and Djokovic in 2013. One can conclude that Nadal is the greatest clay court player but never above Djokovic or Federer with respect to GOAT title as both of them are much more superior players as compared to Nadal both on Grass or hard courts.

Murray may not be the most accomplished on paper, but in his peak went toe to toe with the big 3 Plenty a time & could beat them. Usually lost more times than not against them in slams sure, but for a while it was the big 4 not just the big 3, he was much closer to the big 3 than anybody else on tour was to him, minus clay for a few years (even tho clearly big 3 are still the goat, can be very subjective how you rank them) Which is why it's so hard to compare era's, let alone what exactly constitutes "greatest". Is it the most titles? Dominating an era? Peak play? Most well rounded? Just my 2 cents can only really make feasible lists for pre-modern era and modern era. For the former it's between, in no exact order, Laver/ Gonzales (went pro during his peak years, from what I've heard and seen somewhat he was by far the best/ changed the game for nearly a decade) Borg/ Connors/ McEnroe/ Rosewall/ Newcombe, etc. Wasn't around back then so I don't know all the particulars on their consistencies and winning big tournaments for the time (i.e. seems Connors won just as many if not more big tournaments at the time than Borg, altho now it's all about slam count, even tho Nobody counted until Sampras neared the record) which is why I'm not ranking them then Modern era (1990+) something like Big 3, Sampras, Agassi, Murray, so on Edit: but even then, wouldn't be surprised if someone else wants to split it further into pre-open era and early open era lists (let alone how do you judge Tilden, Budge, Riggs, Kramer etc. they were great for the early to mid 20th century, but of course the sport evolves/ I get why they're overlooked...

Wrong. He has that record only because Djokovic was banned from the AO and US Open. Nadal would currently have 21 slams and Novak at least 22 (probably 23) if not for that. Also, let's not forget that Novak has consistently dominated the tour since 2011 (and owned Rafa during that time), has a winning record against Rafa and Roger, and has a more balanced resume (well over 60% of Rafa's slams have been at the French).

This is soooooo complicated and each person here may go with their favorite while others may make their own rules for the goat. So who has been ranked #1 (in first place) in 6 straight years? Only one person. Pistol Pete. If this is so easy to achieve why nobody has done it? I am not saying he is the absolute shoe in for #1, but this is a complicated subject and it depends on who makes up the criteria.

Agassi played connors a couple times at the us open when he was like 18 and beat him straight sets and five sets consecutive years, and ok connors was 36 but he was playing exactly the same tennis. Clearly if you watch the tape of Agassi then and skip ahead to 1999 Agassi he’s super saiyin by comparison. I’m not going off majors I’m going off the tape of who was a better player at their best. Even in connors dominant era he would get beat by Arthur Ashe or Newcombe and definitely borg had him completely stymied, and McEnroe was essentially Borgs equal if not better. Agassi is so underrated its criminal. He was playing djokovic style tennis with less technology when serve volley was much easier to win with. Connors in my view was an overachiever underdog who played so hard he outworked many players who should’ve beat him. But he also lost mostly to his contemporaries.

Djokovic vs Rafa (30-29), but, but Rafa is 5-4 in Grand slam Finals, sooooooo. Who's your daddy? Rafa vs Federer (24-16) respectively. In grand slam finals Rafa 6 wins Federer 3. Who's your daddy? At the end of the day we are fans to some payer more than others. My favorite has been Pistol Pete and if he was on this era he would have won more than 14 and the big three won't be able to win as many, but that doesn't mean that Pete would have been the greatest. For now I'd say let's wait until Rafa is DONE and Novak is DONE then we can wrap the argument,
@loloforge2841

I'll take it a step further (This is not Bias but real data). Rafa has beaten Novak in Hard court in 2 of the 5 grand slam finals (that's 40% in hard court). Rafa has beaten Roger in Grass Finals. But who of those two (Roger and Novak) has beaten Rafa at the Finals of Roland Garros (Clay)? ZERO is the answer.!
@Thomas-bo5mv
@Thomas-bo5mv Жыл бұрын
dickriding nadal fans how can he be the greatest when he has literally 8 titles for 3 GS combined. Novak and Federer have more variety, more titles and more versatility. Nadal abused steroids and got god gifted with some of the luckiest runs in GS history. Novak will end up surpassing Nadal’s record in Grand Slams and the karma will be on you. Nadal is also the most unsupportive and suspicious of all three, refusing tennis dopingpassport, losing in second rounds of Grand Slams. The most complete player is djokovic and the most talented is federer. Without clay he would not even be in the top three.
@loloforge2841
@loloforge2841 Жыл бұрын
@@Thomas-bo5mv so Tommy, where in the record books or the ATP rules say anything about grand slams combined? Or is another sentimental cry out? Whoever wins the most grand slams has the greater chances to be the GOAT. If it is Novak, good for him as he’s a great player. I have no issues there, but if he doesn’t win the most slams and it turns out to be Rafa then it will be Rafa the GOAT. Another thing that I hope you didn’t see on my stats above. Rafa has beaten Novak more times in Grand slam finals than what Novak has beaten Rafa. That record is 5-4 advantage Rafa. Two (2) of those 5 victories have been in hard courts. So if you talk about balancing how many finals has Novak beaten Rafa on clay? The answer is zero. As for Federer that train left that station. Only time will tell. So far Rafa is the goat in my view. But Novak can catch him for sure and be the goat. I think we can revise this conversation in 2-3 years. Before any of this happened Pistol Pete was the goat. But he won 7 Wimbledon and zero French. But Pete ALWAYS beat his adversaries more time than what he was beaten in grand slam finals and ALSO ended his career with more slams than anyone. As I said we can revise this conversation in 2-3 years.

That daddy Nadal hasn't beaten Novak off clay in 9 years . All they do is play on clay so of course Nadal will keep it close . Nadal has spent like 164 weeks at number 1 less than Novak , 2 years ending as number 1 less . No WTF . Didn't win all the masters . Was lucky that Novak was deported from Australia or Novak would have smoked him there in the QF . Novak was banned from the US and Nadal got clapped by Francis I guess even the government couldn't help him this time . The only way Nadal will end above Novak in slams is if Novak continues to be banned from slams , must feel great that for Nadal to be the GOAT Novak can't compete .

@dnail1917 Жыл бұрын
Stop this BS please. Rafael Claydal didnt take a set from Djokovic on hard court since 2013, and didnt beat him on grass since 2008. Novak is better overall player and its the fact, GS finals and GS h2h is irrelevant because 10 GS matches were played on clay, because Nadal wasnt good enough to make a deep run at AO or Wimbledon. Djokovic owns both Federer and Nadal, he is their father, and they are his sons. He owns them and he proved it many times.
