@andreaho6 ай бұрын
He always takes time away from his opponents with his incredible early ball-striking technique. If one never plays at such a supreme level, he has no way of understanding how difficult to make those shots.
@JamesHarris-hl2bm5 ай бұрын
@unowen7591 not only that, just think of how much more difficult it was before they "doctored" the grass so that the balls would bounce more like a slow hard court which is the way that it was playing at that time. Back in 2003, when he first won Wimbledon, the courts were playing much faster and the bounces were completely unpredictable. This is when a great slice was REALLY your friend, and why it was so important to move forward, but like everything else, tennis has been made into a monoculture where all of the courts for the most part, play exactly the same, which was the end of serve and volley tennis, that and racket technology.

In the new tennis, the era of the big 4, he only had 5 or 6 other level opponents (the various clones Nadal, Djokovic, Murray...). Pete played in the most competitive era ever, on very fast surfaces, with at least 15 players of absolute talent and also with the "specialist factor" which completely changed the scenarios...and in just 13 years (of which more than 2 stopped due to injuries) won 14 Slams...an alien for me.

Nadal 19860603 now at 37,9 gave a less dominant impression in Rome and the win of RG would be a huge surprise, and Djokovic 19870522 at 37,0 all of a sudden seems to have lost his magic, too, although he has a marvellous physical appearance. Don't forget that Federer reached Wimbledon Final after reaching French Open Semifinal too.
