Socrates was a bigger philosopher because he led those people to open there minds and think, just for a ex we can take today's world we are so trapped in proving others wrong that we forget to actually consider the emotional aspects of things. If Socrates didn't go on to do the things he did and even after being killed he stood by his stands then other philosopher wouldn't dare to go ahead and continue his path. If he played it easy you would not have plato Aristotle etc. The reason you have them is Socrates who gave his life and stood tall for his beliefs and showed everyone that it doesn't matter what future beholds but for him but he will not change his beliefs just so he can live one more day, he gave inspiration and strong minds to everyone so they can use that as a platform to build the structure upon.

That no philosophy or philosopher is truer than any other implies our universe is inherently meaningless, as philosophy is the study of truth, and if there is no truth, then there is no meaning? To imply that means to contradict every non-nihilistic or non-absurdist philosopher in history. This thus implies that the only correct philosophers are the nihilistic ones. That's a bunch of self contradictory nonsense. Philosophy is based on logic and has certain foundations, without which, the entire thing falls apart. Philosophy is not the mainstream sentiment of "this is how I look at crisis" or any of the other motivational speaker type sayings, it's the way we try to make sense of the world, on the basis of certain axioms we recognise to be self evident. A philosophy that instructs us to not criticise any philosophy is not a philosophy and is pseudo philosophy and should be treated the same way we treat pseudoscience. Philosophy is not something to play one's subjectivism with.

Obviously he did not change the world on his own (because nobody does), however many were inspired by his work for better or for worse, and his thought is still valid today among critics and defenders (which confirms that he is a relevant author). It is worth reading him according to his context, just as he read the best authors of his time to criticize the system they defended at that time (which has changed a bit until today by the way, things are not always the same). There are people that I have seen saying that there are “Marx fans”, when really there are only people who defend the revolutionary processes carried out in other countries, which many times are based on the one carried out in Russia by Lenin, but not by Marx obviously. The truth is that Marx never explicitly said how communism should be applied in the world, but that is another separate issue quite controversial for some people. Anyway we should stop swallowing so much propaganda against or in favor of certain authors without having previous knowledge about what they deal with and better read them on our own. It is very dishonest to read an author through another, because usually they will misrepresent him, I have seen it with many authors not only current but past, in the philosophical dictionary of the USSR manipulated the image of many people in the West, which were labeled as “reactionary” without being so, as John Dewey for example.

Yes he is actually an philosopher. His philosophical writings are actually quite different from the public perception. Everyone is just reducing the work of Marx to the communist manifesto, which wasn’t even something intended by him. Actually the communist party asked him to write it and at this time workers rights were not existing, so it fitted into the Zeitgeist. But his real philosophical work ist actually a materialist interpretation of Hegel. And his analysis of Capitalism is actually very objective and analytical. He just analyzes brilliantly the inner logics of capitalism. Without the ideological impetus of the manifesto. So not everything you read somewhere is an accurate representation.

Hall rekindle the flame to a notable extent, publishing a diverging body of literary wisdom and insight gleaned from the Kabbalah and Ancient Eastern texts, correctly and healthily fusing the west and the east into a singular stream.
