Yes!! As a stylist this is the first "hair tips" video I've seen that I agree with. The quality of your products makes such a difference!! And patience is key, lying to your stylist about color you've done doesn't take it off your hair, it just makes it so you might walk out the door disappointed. Love your videos girl!!!

Hydration for me seriously matters. I'm almost completely Dutch and Hungarian and was the first person in my family born here in Hawaii where I live. I have really thick blonde hair because of my genetics but the climate isn't right for my hair type. Plus I walk around a lot in the sun on school days so it doesn't help to be frying my hair in 85 degree sunlight everyday all year round. My hair is also really long, it's over 2 feet long from the top of my head to the tips, so I have to brush it a lot to prevent from tangling and matting (due to humidity) and it used to get really broken and dry and just look horrible. So I started washing my hair less (now I only wash it once a week), using a serum or oil that has jojoba oil, coconut oil and aloe in it twice a week to give my hair a hydrating protective layer, switched to a less abrasive/rough shampoo, and started using hair masks and treatments every couple weeks. Now my hair is a lot healthier and shinier just because of that. I only have to brush it once a day or even just comb it with my hands instead of at least twice and sometimes up to 4 times like before, which also helps it stay healthier. It's just a lot smoother and straighter, and less coarse than before and I'm glad I started really focusing on keeping my hair hydrated properly because it makes such a difference. So thank you for making this video, cause it can probably help a lot of people figure out how they're going to improve their hairs health as well!

Moved to a place with extremely hard water that would leave spots all over glasses and silverware, and caused so much calcium buildup. It makes my hair FALL OUT, and my scalp is dry/flakey and itchy (which was never a problem before). Not to mention the frizz, dryness and breakage.Your water definitely makes a huge difference on the health of your hair.

Ohhh nooo I'm so sorry this happened to you! I had no idea hard water could do this to hair until I experienced it and holy crap it's no joke! AND YOUR TIPS LITERALLY SAVED MY LIFE!🙌❤ My hair is better now than my natural no dyed hair before! It is not greasy anymore, it is freaking soft, and the ends of my hair almost not breaking anymore! I use the Not Your Mother's Naturals hydration line, along with the shea moisture repair and protect leave-in conditioner. Along with never using heat (though I do live in a hot area so I'll get heat from that), I don't dry my hair with a regular towel, I wash it every 3 days, and I definitely don't brush it everyday since it isn't needed. Oh yeah and I use that Olaplex stuff once a week. My hair is the healthiest it has ever freaking been :D. You can't even tell that I accidentally overbleached it back in March lol.

A good hair tip/hack if you colour your hair a lot like myself when my hairs not white it's some pastel shade lately I've really had a thing for the pastels. But the trick is before you wash your hair even if it's been a week and your hair is almost slimy mix equil amounts of egg whites with olive oil, so with my hair just past my shoulders I to two egg whites with two table spoons of extra virgin or cold pressed olive oil mix it till it's a little foamy but not mayonnaise and just put it in your hair from tips up to roots depending on how damaged your hair is. Leave for half an hour or wrap in plastic use either a cap or just wrap your head in plastic wrap. Then just go and shampoo like normal and trust me your hair will look and feel so much better after like the third time and I like to do it every second or third washing. It may sound gross but it works like a charm.

The best shampoo/conditioner brand to use for any hair type is Shea Moisture! They are a drugstore brand: sulfate free, cruelty free, silicone free, mineral oil free and cheaper than salon brand (that is normally filled with sulfates and silicone!) they have a bunch of different kinds of products to best fit your hair. My favorite is their high porosity hair mask, you will thank me 😍

When I left my hair alone for a week, I ended up with serious dandruff and I couldn't stand how itchy it got. I don't know how to get around leaving my hair be without washing it
@nimedhel096 жыл бұрын
Well, if you go from washing the hair every day, or every other day, to leaving it unwashed for a week, it's understandable. If you want to wash it less, you have to do it progressively. I personally wash it twice a week, so every 3 to 4 days, because that's the amount of time I'm comfortable with in a hotter weather, but, as the temperature are getting lower and lower, and my hair even drier, I will space the washes a bit, like every 4 days, and then, when winter comes, every 5 to 6 days. What you can also do to help reduce oiliness and dandruffs is, first, using a sulfate-free shampoo (I completely stopped having dandruff after stopping using shampoos with sulfate), and, if you feel like your hair is getting a bit on the oily side, but you don't want to wash it, just wet it and massage it in the shower. Brushing it every morning and evening to really get the sebum to travel through the length is also a good tip, because sebum protects the hair and hydrates it, making it softer and stronger.

all i use is coconut oil you can add coconut oil to your shampoo and conditioner dont use too much coconut oil a little is all you need and it rinses out and cleans your hair and it builds back your hair all at the same time what you do is rub some on your hands from a finger tip until its liquified then you add your conditioner to your hands too and put coconut oil with your conditioner into your hair and rinse

Hi Jade. So I guess the usual is people struggle with not washing their hair when it gets greasy, but my hair never does...ever! I've only gone 7 days without washing my hair but I could probably go weeks and it wouldn't get greasy. That's not good either right because my hair isn't getting any benefits from natural oils. Is their some science behind it? Does it have to do with dehydration? I know I need to drink more water that's no news. But I was just wondering, because creating a balance would be better.

I've got a question! I'm overweight and I keep getting frumpy ass haircuts, even in cool salons staffed entirely by neon haired tattooed girls. I'm covered in traditional tattoos, I have hipster glasses, wear skinny jeans, and usually have a bandana around my neck bank robber style but no matter what style I ask for all the stylist sees is my fat face and I end up with a soccer mom cut. IT IS DRIVING ME INSANE. I know for sure it's my weight because this was never a problem when I was much smaller. Are there any magic words to convey that I don't want my ends to curl under and to please for the love of god not frame my face with a million layers??

Hi Jade! I am so happy you made this video, I know I've asked you once on your Instagram and am glad you made a whole video! ❤ I do have a question though, my hair is short (jaw length) and curly, so I can't really go a week or even 3 days without a bunch of build up from all the products and have to wet my hair every day or it just looks plain messy, any recommendations for ladies with shorter hair? Also have you tried any natural hair masks?
@JadeTheLibra7 жыл бұрын
Hey Kayla HEYYY! Wetting your hair or even running some conditioner through it every few days is totally fine especially with curly hair. I would avoid a lot of heat or blow-dry on low though as much as you can to give your hair a break. The main issue is just using shampoo too much which will dry out your curls. Also, as far natural hair masks go, I don't have a lot of experiences with natural oils, but I do know most conditioners contain them, so I don't think they would be damaging. However, if you're looking to rebuild your actual hair rather than just add shine and smoothness, I would say try out a bond builder! Hopefully this helps!! Let me know if you have any questions, I could talk hair all day every day haha!

Try getting one that says organic/virgin. When my hair was really damaged once a week I let my hair soak in it fora entire day! And before bed I'd put a little more in there and wash when I woke. Now it's healthy and I do it once a month.
@BlackThorndRose7 жыл бұрын
Jamie Smith I wouldn't go for coconut oil particularly for scalp issues. You need Tea Tree oil! It's nourishing but also clarifying. The one I recommend is the Jamaican Black Castor with Tea Tree Oil, you can find it on Amazon. Apply it to the roots, make sure its saturated and leave it on for an least an hour, the tea tree oil will give a minty cool feeling. Then you want to massage the scalp very well, take a fine comb and comb small strokes close to the root and you will see any dry flakes come right off. I know it sounds gross lol but hey, it works! Then you can either use that as a scalp mask, or you can find whatever one you like as long as it's good quality (I use the Grow Gorgeous mask) and use it to prevent the dry scalp from coming back.

I'm sure it's pretty obvious from my picture but my hair is bleached so usually leave conditioner in for as long as I can, the same with olaplex no.3. A few questions what about putting your hair in a braid when you sleep? Is there a smaller bottle of the pureology because I wash my hair once a week so I don't really need that big of a bottle does getting regular trims help with hair growth and last is it true that your hair has a point where it stops growing out at
@JadeTheLibra7 жыл бұрын
I hear ya, the liter is HUGE! The link automatically shows the liter for some reason, but there's another size option under the picture that says "options" The 8.5 oz is the smaller version. I believe they sell travel sizes on Ulta too, but those bottles are so unbelievably tiny I can't believe they are even sold. haha! Also, I don't think it's true that your hair reaches a point where it stops growing out. A lot of times if your hair stops growing it's because the hair is breaking off at the same pace or more than it is growing. My hair didn't seem to grow further than my shoulders, at one point I literally thought it just wasn't in the cards for me... Basically Olaplex is the only answer I have for that. I mean I trim my hair, but not as much as I should, so I would say Olaplex and softer water saved my hair. Let me know if you have any other questions! I love nerding out about hair!!

How do you like prueology Nanoworks. I usually use the hydrate, but I just ordered the nano works to try and repair some of the bleach damage.
@mandiwalstad81657 жыл бұрын
So my hair is currently a silver lilac, which I use diluted Arctic fox dyes to get, and although I only shampoo it about once a week, the color is barely there after one shampoo. My hair is also breaking a lot, which I don't understand because I have naturally blonde hair and only bleach it once with 20 developer (and touch up roots once) to get it light enough. I hardly use heat either :( it just won't hold color
@JadeTheLibra7 жыл бұрын
Hey Mandi HEYYY!!! I think the reason your hair color is fading so fast may have to do with the breakage and dryness of your hair. When our hair is damaged, the cuticle is left wide open which means color is released almost as fast as it is applied. A couple of things could be going on too... First, have you moved recently? If so, hard water may be an issue. If not, did your hair break off before using Arctic Fox? I personally love the pigmentation of Arctic Fox, but when I tried their green hair dye I noticed my hair felt dryer than the hair dye I normally used. I thought maybe it was just the green shade or something I did on my end, but maybe not. One last thing, definitely pick up some Olaplex no 3 if you can and start using it once a week. Even after my hair felt dry from the green hair dye, a treatment or 2 of Olaplex did the trick. It may take longer than a few treatments though if you're hair is feeling really pissed at the world. I'm happy to help, so let me know if you have any questions over any of this long ass essay I just wrote haha!
@mandiwalstad81657 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I did move about a year ago but this is also the first time I've bleached my hair and colored it all. I'm not sure if it could be related, but my hair used to never break off until a couple years ago it was badly butchered by someone I believed to be a professional stylist (later found out she never completed the school anyway) and ever since, I've been fighting dead ends and breakage. It used to grow so fast now I'm fighting to keep the length I have. I've only used Arctic fox so far so maybe I should try out something else? I'm definitely going to look into the water softener for the shower too.

Also is hair color from Sally's safe to use? I like to avoid box dye and the metallics kill my hair, I like to go darker in fall and winter but want to be safe if I decide to lighten it or let it fade out to my natural color.

Hey girl! Buying from Ulta and Beauty Brands should be safe since they have a salon in house, so they typically go through products at a decent rate, especially their liters and hairsprays -- when they have the liter/spray sales they fly off the shelves! Also, I would say Sally's is better than box color, although I never judge anyone for using box color because, it's come a long way... It's the box bleach/lifters that give me the creeps! There's just no way of knowing how your hair is going to react/lift when it comes to box stuff.

Hey girl hey! How often do you recommend to trim the hair? I really want to have it long 😫

Hey girl heyyy!!! I would say every 8 weeks if you have some ends that are suffering, but I do mine about every 12 weeks. 💕

Hey. Do you do vitamins or anything for length of hair? I know hair grows from roots but mine reaches mid back then says "Nope!"
@JadeTheLibra7 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I think vitamins help with the thickness of my new growth over growing faster. I take Rainbow Light brands Prenatal One vitamin. I don't know that anything makes my hair grow faster, but I'm telling you Olaplex changed my hair game! I feel like I talk it up so much that it seems preachy or like an ad (it's not but I wish it were haha), but 100% got me out of the hair growth rut I was in! I think it's because it's not that our hair stopped growing as much as our hair starts to break off at the same rate or faster than our hair is growing. The Olaplex is supposed to rebuild any broken down bonds that can lead to breakage which means we can all be Rapunzel!!! YAASSSS!

What dye did you use to lay over the faded pony? The lavender one. Also, what product do you recommend for the smoky roots that you can apply to freshly bleached new growth?
@JadeTheLibra7 жыл бұрын
YAY!! Sending healthy hair vibes your way! Feel free to check back in and let me know how everything is working for you! Also, I used Pulp Riot Lilac hair dye over the Pony shade. My favorite smoky hair dye is Joico's Titanium, but to be honest, I keep up with my roots by applying the Fanci Full Rinse from Sally's in "True Steel". In this video I have Pulp Riot's "Smoke" on my hair which pulled way too blue for my taste and is fading super fast, so I applied the Fanci Full Rinse to my roots after I washed my hair to keep the grey/silver looking fresh and darker. Also, make sure you blow dry your hair if you use the rinse, because it doesn't feel the best on air dried hair. One more thing, also get a clarifying shampoo so it doesn't build up! Other than that, have fun!!

I just started doing my hair bright orange after a couple of decades of doing more natural colors. What do you recommend to keep the color bright aside from redoing it every three weeks or so? I only wash it once a week and use a gentle sulfate free shampoo already. Someone I work with mixes some of her color in with her shampoo - is that a good idea? Thanks!
@JadeTheLibra7 жыл бұрын
I haven't personally tried mixing color with shampoo, but I've heard amazing things!! A while back there was someone who had the prettiest red hair and it never seemed to fade, and she said she did put red manic panic in her shampoo to keep it fresh... Anyways, it looked AMAZING and fresh! It should work as long as your shampoo is a clear/white shade -- some shampoos have toners or a tint to them, so I just want to make sure you don't end up mixing orange with a blue or purple tinted shampoo. If you do try it, let me know how it works for you!

Thanks! I mixed a couple of colors so I'll whip up a new batch to keep in the shower. I'll keep you posted :)

I had no idea that a water softener might affect my hair! Only problem is.. Ours broke last year & the landlord just disconnected it. No wonder I thought my hair looked unhealthy & I had 8 inches cut off.

At some point I've heard you talk about a violet toner from Sallys.. I've went through a couple of your hair videos, but I can't find it. What was the brand and color?
@JadeTheLibra7 жыл бұрын
I don't use purple toner from Sally's, but I do use a silver hair rinse to keep my hair looking smokey. Here's the video to that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXvGY5d_ns-Hgpo . You can use a violet toning shampoo called Silver Lights from Sally's that's really good if you're looking for that. I use Redken Shades EQ in 9v for my toner.
