The film was directed by Frank Oz, one of the geniuses who developed the Muppets with Jim Henson (and also iconically voices Fozzie, Miss Piggy, Grover and Yoda) and the voice of Audrey II is provided by Levi Stubbs of The Four Tops...it was nominated for 2 Oscars - Best Visual Effects (losing to the very deserving Aliens) and Best Song (Mean Green Mother From Outer Space lost to Take My Breath Away from Top Gun), and it is the only screenwriting credit of Howard Ashman's career, as he adapted the book of the musical from stage to screen

Yes!! Devil's Carnival and Repo made the list! It's a shame that they failed to mention they were made by the same people, and star a lot of the same people as well, but I'm happy to see it getting some recognition. And of course, Nightmare Before Christmas was there. I honestly forgot Sweeney Todd was a horror musical until I saw it, which surprised me because it's one of my favorite musicals. I'm so happy RHPS WAS #1 the first time I went to see it in theaters one halloween, they put a big V with red lipstick on my forehead for virgin. In the middle of the movie, they stop, and ask all the virgins to come forward to be spanked with a paddle. They let you run through the isles in your undies or nude, whichever you prefer. It is so much fun. I highly recommend seeing it in theaters for halloween

Yay! Horror musicals get recognition! I really like Repo. It has the distinction of being a movie in 2008 that uses practical effects for blood and organs. Even the best special effects teams can't make CG blood look as realistic as cheap prop blood.

I only saw the director's version of little shop of horrors. I later discovered that the ending it's not the actual ending but the cut version. Didn't see the original ending and had to search here on YT The reason its original ending was cut is because test screening audiences reacted negatively to it and the filmmakers had to change to the part where the plant dies instead. All of its storylines are based on the musical Today people who watched the cut version react positively to it

The book it's based on definitely has some classic/ gothic horror elements. It can get pretty dark, especially if you're not expecting it.

Sabrina Battle well it’s a ghost story with some creepy moments. The phantom sending anonymous threatening letters, the skull outfit at the masquerade ball, his creepy little dungeon. It’s not hardcore horror but it’s still in the genre.

It isn't really horror. I like Phantom but I honestly don't even agree with it being on the list at all. Especially the movie version, which is very toned-down.
