I recently got fitted into a set of Callaway XR Pro irons and have been blown away by the performance of this iron. My shafts are the new KBS Tour V in stiff flex, a mid weight shaft at 110 Grams. I'm 51 yrs. old and a 7 handicap and these irons are by far the longest and most accurate irons i have ever played. I really like what Callaway Golf is doing with technology, very impressive.

Thanks for such a comprehensively tested list. I own Taylormade RSi1. I love them. I had a Callaway N415 iron set earlier and traded them for the Taylormade RSi1. I think I made the right decision. I am able to hit the ball better since I started playing with RSi1. Lets see if my handicap improves

Switched from 712 Titleist AP2's to TaylorMade RSI 1's. 4 weeks ago. Great clubs which do everything you said. Very impressed. Important to get custom fitted to get the best out of them.

I just purchased a set of Mizuno's JPX 825 still have Mizuno MP 32's which I love. Now I have two sets of beautiful clubs to play. My clubs are in excellent condition, they are cleaned after every use. Thank's just me. I would recommend Mizuno's to everyone, they are in my opinion the best clubs on the market.

Rick...Great review as always! Demo'd the RSI 1's and was carrying a 7 iron 180-183 yds on my best hits! Have to say I didn't lose many yards on my mishits- maybe 5-6 yards so the clubs do what TM promotes. Currently playing Rocketbladez irons. Will probably change but when the price comes down! Hi Rick! Ive used a set of Callaway apex pro irons for the 2014 season and loved them! But for 2015 I've put the apex mb's in from 7 iron up! Feel the blade gives me a lot flatter ball flight into the green and so much easier to fade!

Rick, just a suggestion…when you review the Nike vapor range, could you do a comparison afterwards between the Vapor pro combos and old VR pro combos? I'm getting new irons this spring and am not the tallest person out there but still like to work the ball, and as a Nike fan, I would love to see the new vapors out-perform the shorter hitting VR pro combos. Keep up the great reviews in the meantime, you're channel has been a huge help to me over the last year and a half!

I would have thought that the Titleist range especially the AP2 would definitely be in the top 3, but that's my opinion. Unfortunately TM has pissed off so many of their present and past buyers by bringing out a new set of equipment every 3 months. Great review nevertheless.

Really surprised the Mizuno MP line didn't make it to the list, but I understand why they're not. They don't offer a full line (high, mid, low handicap) similar to the Calloway Apex, Titleist 714, etc. The MPs are almost strictly low-handicap irons (though I play the MP-57 as a double-digit). I went from Taylormade R7 to the MP-57 and will probably never play another manufacturer's irons. I've very tempted by the 850 Forged right now.

I own those Callaway Apex irons with f3 95g Recoil shafts and must say they made it to the top list for reason. Huuge forgiveness, stylish look, and pretty nice feel despite graphite shafts (I had pains in elbow with steel shafts). The only downside is a soft metal they made of. After just one season they have more dents than my 5 years old Mizunas and I did use head covers.

Srixon should have topped the list. The fact that Bridgestone isn't on here is mind blowing, their "driving forged" iron should be #2, then the Callaway apex. Everything else you can put in any order you like, there all about the same at this point.

For 2016, as a beginner, I would rather see the top 3 for each range of handicap. No one can go see and test all ten brands, unless you are a full-time golfer. This Top 10 is basically every major brand in the market - so does not narrow it down really at all for me, and I think most people with a handicap over 10 (the vast majority of golfers). Are the differences so marginal you cannot recommend a top 3-5? Are you worried about offending a major brand? If not please limit the selections better and maybe do 3 separate Top 3 videos for high, medium and low handicaps. Thanks for all your work and videos. Beginners mainly care about "forgiviness" while more experience will value other attributes more. We are struggling and want to stay in the game and improve rapidly. Intermediate golfers are polishing their swing. Low handicaps, presumably, are tweaking and will trade many things, like pros, for pure performance. I also would love to see you test Gigagolf's custom clubs. They are a value seller (generic clones) that implements all the same technologies (knock-offs) that are not patented without the added retailer cost, advertising budgets and sponsorships tripling the prices. Custom irons starts at $20 and custom drivers at $99. They have been selling in the U.S. for 15 years now and like in most industries offer a Do It Yourself solution online that reduces costs significantly. I suspect they would be happy to provide a full, custom set to your specs for review. Lowers the price of a custom set from $1,500+ to $500.

Rick, you should really be looking at the new Bridgestone J15 range. By the looks of them, they are very, very good and should be on your 2015 ahead of 2014 models such as Taylormade TP range and Titleist 714 range.

This was great, I have been researching "what is considered a complete set of golf clubs?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Aanraaster Particular Authority - (do a search on google )? It is an awesome one off product for discovering how to learn an effective golf swing method minus the hard work. I change irons like I change my shirt, but I'm back with the Ping G series again. They are so reliable and will take a BEATING. I'm lucky enough to live in Phoenix so the fitting center is just a 10 minute drive. I've played G2, G10, i15 and G15s. I'll probably try the 30s, but giving up the G15s would feel like losing a limb.

Well I wouldnt buy any of them, none of them made it to my short list. I bought the Nike Forged VR Pro Combo set last weekend because they were half price (thanks Nike for bringing out the Vapor range and prompting amazing sale prices - how could i turn them down at £350). But sitting at double the price at the top of my list was the Mizuno MP-H5 set which comes from 1-PW and is absolutely gorgeous. Even at £660 for 4-9 irons i was still very tempted especially as I could have chosen a lighter shaft. Still I have been lusting after the combo set all year since I tried them out in a store and I am absolutely delighted with them. My wooden spoon for technology this year goes to Taylormade with their RSI range, as a failures specialist I would never buy anything with holes in teh face of the club; especially as at least one reviewer has shown that if you take the loft of the club into account they have no better performance than Ping with a more traditional build and no holes in the face. If I was a TaylorMade fan I would turn my attention to some of their other excellent clubs like RocketBladez ;-) P.S. And thanks Rick for your great review of the Nike Pro Combos that I watched again before committing my credit card :-)

Great review as always, Maybe would be helpful to review iron set for people new or looking to take up Golf that don't want to spend well over £550 i.e under £300 or are they just not worth it? Or how to pick a 1/2 set to get them going. Cost of clubs, bag, lessons, clothes, shoes etc etc before thinking about joining fee for a club maybe a factor why Golf is shrinking. I don't know anybody that has given up the game due to pace of play?

Buy used and don't get sucked into the latest and greatest. Golfbidder tested every Ping G series iron from G5 to G25 and the difference in yardage was only about 4 yards of carry! You can still get a set of g10s for about $150 USD. They'll be in great shape because those clubs are built to withstand nuclear warfare. Might just need to throw some new grips on.

Well said. Unfortunately the manufacturers are the biggest voice to the people about this game. I have no problem with companies making a buck, but it is a conflict of interest for them to have the main stage for advice or opinion. The clubs are maxed out period and if anyone is paying attention they just flip flop head designs every few years paint it a new color and put a notch in it here or there and a racing stripe and boom, new and improved. There are hundreds of vids on comparison reviews that trackman shows to be pointless. I understand feel and confidence at address and so on, but is it worth spending so much for so little? Hey, if anyone has the money to piss away knock yourself out and go for it. Majority don't and are being lied to about what they are gaining from this and that. I do believe this is killing this great game.

I tried the RSi irons and did not like them at all. It feels rock hard comparing to my Mizuno MP63. Seems to be the overall feel for TM irons. I also have a set of 2009 Tour Preferred Irons and they feel similar.

Rick I live in the U.S. I am 13 and I am hitting my driver with a 210 yard carry is that good? I am not the best at getting it more straight and far. I also need help hitting my irons farther. I have a Taylormade tour burner 9.5 degrees and stiff shaft and I have knock off irons that I hit fairly decent but not far. What should I do or could you post videos about it, I love your videos 👍👍👍👍 keep up the good work

Waiting on a set of custom G25s to come in. I did the research and didn't think the G30s were worth the extra price for me. Work as a photographer is sporadic at best and my disposable income is...well...inconsistent. Regardless, still beyond excited to finally have a set of custom fit irons. My optimal lie angle is too flat for most off-the-rack clubs. I can hit them but I don't like the flight. Plus, I was able to get the lofts weakened which was nice because I hate the 'more aggressive' lofts that seem like nothing more than marketing fodder. "Oh, your 6 iron goes the same distance as my 7? Cool, it should. It's the same loft." :P

It would be hard to pick a list of only 10 clubs. I hit most of the new Irons and ordered the Callaway XR which isn't on the list. The Taylor Made RS1 looked great, was the long and consistent but it launched lower and I didn't like the feel of either stock shafts. It was longer than everything but the BB. The Callaway Big Bertha was the longest, easiest to hit, and most consistent in distance and direction, but I just didn't like the looks and didn't want to let go of the extra money. The XR looks almost identical to the original XHot. Great looking club. With stock steel and graphite shaft it was actually not quite as long as the TM RS1 but with the free shaft upgrade the UST recoil shaft made up the difference. I can't wait to get them.

Im looking for new irons, I am thinking about the apex or the rsi. I don't know because I like the look of the apex and I like that there is a little bit less forgiveness so I can improve my game. But the rsi for me is cheaper and it has stronger lofts. Advice will be much appreciated.

I wouldn't touch TM in a million years for irons. Their superseded in no time with another wizzbang version. They also perform no better than equivalent lofted/length irons from other manufacturers. The 6 goes further because guess what, it's actually a 5 iron!!

Well the "chunkier" TaylorMade irons are made for high handicappers and they are stronger in lofts. The TaylorMade Tour Preferred MB and CB are actually not that bad in lofts.

I have a set of TM RSI2 and they are so forgiving and consistent. I had a set of Rocketbladez Tour for about a year and I practiced about 4 times a week at the range hitting about 200 balls and I never had an issue with the polymer inserts wearing out. Yea TM will probably be releasing an newer versions of the RSI's or an entire new line by July but that doesn't mean they're clubs aren't up to par or phenomenal clubs.

Rick, I have a set of Rocketbladez and I recently found a set of Speedbladez on sale for $300 or so. If I decide to upgrade, do you think the Speedbladez will outperform my current set? I'm a 15 handicap. Thanks
