One of Our Time's greatest actors but even today, Jennifer Jason Leigh is under-appreciated. This is ironic given that she is the daughter of Vic Morrow, whom was also under-appreciated in his own lifetime. However, while Morrow had to struggle against the fact that in his time it was hard to make the transition from television back to movies (having been early typecast in films), at least Leigh does not have that problem today where a renaissance in television acting and directing has taken place and even surpassed film in her era. Her incredible creative performance in FARGO Season 5 is just one witness to that among a host of brilliant performances. And fortunately she never seems short of work which suggests that she is valued in the industry if not fully appreciated by the general public.

Maybe it's just me... But she is a chameleon. She has a face that somehow when you change the frame (hair and makeup) she can be a doppelgänger for so many other actresses. Single White Female is a great example. When she cuts and dies her hair, she genuinely looks like Bridget Fonda. There were some scenes I didn't know which was which. But before she did that, when her hair was long and dark brown, she looked like Ally Sheedy. Or in Rush, for a moment I wondered if that was Elizabeth Shue. In Best Little Girl In The World, she looks like Brook Shields. I could go on... she just has a lovely face... and so changing.

@laustcawz20892 жыл бұрын
Agreed, though at least you can't say Jennifer ever took that opportunity for granted. She even changed her name, so she wouldn't be thought of as just "Vic Morrow's kid". She wanted to make it on her own merits She's always given it her all. Can't say that about Gwyneth Paltrow, who's little more than just a really bad joke.

"Last Exit to Brooklyn" (1989), the film that catapulted her career at the age of 27, and won the Boston Society of Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress. The film is a masterpiece and stars a lot of new comers: Sam Rockwell, Vincent Baldwin, Ricki Lake, and famous transgender actress (since passed away) Alexis Arquette; of the Arquette acting family. Oh, and she's from my hometown, where she grew up, Los Angeles, California.

Her performance in "Heart of midnight" gave me chills and I lost a night of sleep. It was just creepy. It's ridiculous that she doesn't have two or more Oscars by her fireplace. She's a lot better than the actresses of today. I've got Hudsucker Proxy and Miami Blues on DVD. Even thought Single White Female wasn't that good, she made my skin crawl the way she portrayed a psychopathic roommate who makes Bridget Fonda's life a living hell. Even more chilling, the movie was loosely based on interviews the director had with people who had batshit crazy roommates.
