Eddie’s death may be pretty cool and gruesome, but it always gave me a depressing spot. The dude was pretty nice and unlike most characters where he could just run away, he made the noble sacrifice of saving Malcom, Sarah and Nick. Even when the T Rex’s were ripping his car apart, he still held down on the accelerator to save his friends as he was at death’s door. It always made me sad and to me, Eddie was one of the best heroes in the Jurassic series.

The man was unlikely to be alive when he was getting ripped in half. You would die faster with the big dinos than small.
@m.r.r.26363 жыл бұрын
I think it made for a really fantastic but horrifying scene and it cemented; the dinos don't care if you're acting heroic. If you are in range of its teeth, you're gonna get eaten. Similarly to why GoT was revered; if you are in danger, there's a high likelihood that you will die. Maybe even more so if you do the heroic thing that puts you in harms way. In the movies, Spielberg obviously wanted to create some moral payback, so douchie characters would get their comeuppance. However the books are a lot less caring about the character's moral compass and more in line with what you can expect based on their actions. If you haven't I can only encourage you to read the books. They are different enough that it makes for a familiar but separate experience. Also the dock scene is terrifying and I am so sad it didn't make it into the movie. Gennaro is also not a sleazy and cowardly lawyer in the book.

Some were lucky that they were able to climb up the tree but Mr. Udesky was not soo lucky. He ran himself to one of the velociraptors. This video just made me realize why Muldoon was so “paranoid” about the raptors. He had to witness his friend and colleague die a vicious and painful death despite trying his best to save him, which makes me hate Hammond even more for doubting his warnings and completely ignoring him.
@dafilmqueen5563 жыл бұрын
I can't blame him, can I? I never actually felt any attachment for Hammond, and now I have reasons to hate him. It reminds me of when I used to like Hiruzen Sarutobi from Naruto, but now after lots of exposure and reading, I now resent him for not being a competent leader. Hiruzen and Hammond actually both have a lot in common: Hammond saw the dangers the dinosaurs were bringing onto Jurassic Park, yet choose to ignore warnings and continue regardless. Hiruzen saw how Naruto was suffering, yet he only provides financial aid and beyond entrance to the Ninja academy, doesn't do much of anything to help Naruto throughout his childhood; he even lets his old friend Danzo Shimura (who you could say is anime's Dennis Nedry) get away with a lot of crimes with little to no punishment whatsoever, for crying out loud! Both these two were in position of power they ultimately didn't deserve, saw problems going on around them, and yet instead of actually solving those problems, just let them happen anyway and did next to nothing to solve them. Yep, Muldoon deserved better than to have his warnings be ignored when they could've saved so many lives..
@East_TN_Explorer Жыл бұрын
As much as I enjoy the actors portrayal of Hammond in the film, they really softened his character up when compared to the novel. In the novel Hammond is a total piece of garbage, greedy, selfish. In the movie he's just made out to be naive and doesn't consider protocol or contingency plans. On a side note, Malcoms character in the book is very pretentious, even more so than in the film. Don't like either, from what I've been reading so far in the book.

Another reason why i always felt bad for Burke as well is because the snake that slithered down his shirt wasn't poisonous. You can tell because of the colors. Eddie’s death is the most dramatically compelling. This guy, struggling to save his team, is suddenly surrounded by not one but two massive tyrannosaurs. Still trying to save the team, he has the boldness to attempt to shoot the dinosaurs, but alas his gun is stuck (tho he probably wouldn’t have hit either Rex, one shot wouldn’t have been sufficient, and I doubt he could have reloaded). Desperately he kicks at the encroaching predators head when he is pulled from the vehicle and gruesomely divides. He had the (mis)fortune of clearly facing his death though; he likely knew he was dead the second he heard the stomping. Because of the rapid increase of terror, the most viscerally empathetic death is Zara’s. While failing her job to watch the children because of her upcoming wedding, she relocates them amongst disaster and confusion. Hardly after she can incredulously question “what is going on?” She’s yanked into the air (shock, terror, possible pain), dropped (more terror), grabbed again and carried off (more shock and terror, probably more pain), dropped further into water (significant terror, shock, pain). As she writhes in the water, she’s attacked again by the pterosaurs before being swallowed whole by the mosasaur. It may have multiple rows of teeth, but she’d probably still be severely/critically injured but alive as she slowly suffocated/drowns in the belly of the water monster. This executive assistant’s death was slow and painful; this bride-to-be must have been confused and terrified throughout the worst death of the franchise. Other honorable mentions: -Cooper’s injured and desperate run through the jungle only to be abandoned and then eaten. -fat security dude during indomitus’ escape -fallen kingdom’s indoraptor elevator deaths -guy trying to escape into a store during the San Diego rampage -doggo

@@Jeice1010 I think they still are in the movies though. I say that cause if you rewatch the scene after reading this you'll see it to. After he first got bitten and swarmed by the first few he slowed down but was still going for a while, looked winded was all. When he fell again in the water, he really began struggling to get them off as small and light as they are. After he got back up, he was stumbling and crashed into that long before seriously struggling to get over it. After he fell off the log, he was unable to move in any meaningful way and stopped screaming after he was fully paralyzed but probably still alive. The part thay really sealed the whole deal that they were venomous is the struggle to make it over the log. A normal guy, with some minor cuts could make that no problem. He didn't have any major bone or muscle damage, but he certainly could have been dazed and slowed from a paralyzing venom that was still kicking in after several small but fresh doses

I think Zara’s death gets worse when you slow it down and realise that you can see Zara’s hands smacking against the Mosasaurs tongue (is it a tongue? The bottom of its mouth?) meaning that she had enough time to realise that not only was she going to get killed by a pteranodon, but she was going to get eaten by a Mosasaur too. Yeesh! And Eddie’s death is just so brutal too!
@nerdvillegamer1331 Жыл бұрын
not only did she have the time, but she was eaten alive entirely. the hand/arm you mentioned comes down a little past the second row of teeth, meaning her arm would've been separated entirely, or she was stuck in the second set of teeth before it decided to swallow her eventually. I did too. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy, as the saying goes. And while I understand that a movie featuring dinosaurs isn’t always going to be big on scientific accuracy, I also liked that it depicted a very plausible method T. rex parents may have used to help their chicks gain experience with subduing and killing prey. Since many birds of prey will bring back wounded prey for their fledglings to practice making kills on, I see no reason why their theropod ancestors wouldn’t have done the same.

The other thing about Zara's death scene is that, while the dinosaurs were CGI, the actress went through all of that personally as one continuous wire stunt, complete with a dive into a tank. It's a pretty impressive practical effect to go with the maelstrom of computer-generated effects in that sequence. My only discomfort from that death was the feeling that it was a bit on the gratuitous side. But to criticize it because "she didn't deserve to die" is kinda silly. Did the fat guy with the sandwich deserve to die? Or does he not earn your sympathy because seeing fat men die is humorous while seeing women die is "terrible?" It's kinda silly to argue on that point. Really, tons of people in Jurassic Park who die don't "deserve" it. That whole scene was about a lot of random park guests being dive-bombed by hungry aerial dinosaurs. Zara was just the one who got focused on. I guess a lot of people see the deaths in the original movie as being "deserved" because the people involved brought it on themselves by making the park. It doesn't matter that Muldoon was generally a pretty sensible (if aggressive) guy who was the only one willing to risk InGen's displeasure by shooting the raptor at the start (and the only person not in a position to do it himself), and it didn't matter that Ray Arnold was a pretty laid-back, likeable guy, either. No one criticized those deaths on the basis of whether or not they deserved it. Zara didn't deserve to die. But that comedy relief security guard who could be any of us? That guy's FUCKED. Meh. - Lewis

@alansawyer86004 жыл бұрын
"Or does he not earn your sympathy because seeing fat men die is humorous while seeing women die is "terrible?"" It's actually the opposite, just look at the comments sympathising with the male deaths (even vilains) because we can empathise with men and we care when they die. Look at the lack of sympathy for Zara (an innocent woman), infact there's more comments like yours critisising those finding her death horrific, "what about Eddie's death?" etc. Little sympathy for poor Zara who didn't deserve it. Infact, women's deaths rarely solicit sympathy; it's either comic relief, karma for some tedious thing; or sexually appealing (as is the case with many horror movies). We can't empathise with women as inferior beings, so their deaths don't effect us as much. Infact if anyone critisises this phenomena, they in turn get critisised by offended youtubers. Women's deaths and violence is all too often "funny", "deserved", "sexy", or just unimportant; while men's deaths actually touch us. Show me one person who actually finds female deaths "terrible" to the extent we naturally find men's deaths terrible. Zara's death is focused on because she is 1. An actual character, and 2. She is the one who's flung about by the pterosaurs and suffers a slow death. It is the very fact she's a female that people find it funny, while Eddie's death in TLW is horrific.
@monsterhanna66914 жыл бұрын
Also, I think that even if Zara didn't die or was a man, people,would still find something to bitch about by calling it sexiest like they do now. Meaning, that if a woman didn't die and it was only men who did, they'd still find something to complain. You just can't please anyone but either way, EVERYONE in a Jurassic film is fair game; not just the heroes and/or villains. Why is Zara any different?
@Ailurophile19844 жыл бұрын
Alan Sawyer Naw it’s ENTIRELY the opposite. Women’s deaths are always considered more shocking to audiences. It’s an extension of the phenomenon known as male disposability. Hence why so puzzlingly few women are ever killed in series like Jurassic Park or Predator and why the lone female survivor (especially if she’s the sole female in a mixed sex group) is so nearly ubiquitous in horror films that it’s a trope at this point (known as “the final girl”)
@Picachki4 жыл бұрын
The more attached the audience is to a character, the harder it is to see their death scene. I think that’s what it comes down to. Some connect more to certain people than others. Many good and bad characters die in this franchise. It’s hard to watch sometimes but we can’t look away.

Sorry but while I'll admit that Zara's death was rather dark, Eddie was saving lives and even when the two Rexes were tearing his car apart he didn't let up. Quite frankly I would have rather Nick died cause he was responsible for virtually EVERY SINGLE DEATH on that island. He's the one that brought the infant rex to their trailer which brought the parents there as well as pretty much getting them followed by the pair later, he released all the dinos at the trapper camp which fucked up their camp and radio so they had to wander to a raptor infested area and removed the shot gun shells from Roland's gun which prevented him from killing either Rex which again killed more of the team as well as pretty much allowing the male to kill a lot of people in San Diego. I’ve said this on another video in relation to Muldoon’s death, and felt it should be said here. I always thought “The Big One” was the one watching from behind the tree because she used herself as bait so one of her subordinates would kill him. Something very sinister about it...even afterwards the way she looks after Muldoon was attacked was like a glare of satisfaction. It also makes the infamous line Muldoon says make more sense to me. It’s not that he wasn’t aware of the Raptor that came up to his left, it was more in line with the fact that he was too distracted trying to kill HER (and living in the moment) that he simply forgot about her subordinates. He was played and he knew it but only when it was too late. The Big One LURED him into a trap, hence the “clever girl” line.

The Big One was the one in the shed that killed Ray and scared the hell out of Ellie after turning the power back on. Super off topic but I never thought that the dilo in the car was the same that spit at Nedry. I always thought there were two of them. First, the tour mentions that dilophosaurus is a pack hunter. Second, at one point there is a shot after Nedry sees the first dilo that shows a dilo moving across frame (I think from left to right) far behind Nedry. Then the next shot is Nedry turning around to see a dilo. I always thought they were two different animals. The movement of the dinosaur in the one shot does not lead it to end up right behind Nedry, so I always thought that it was a second dilo going around the creek area to then get in the car, while the other was closer to Nedry.

He was running with a group of people and managed to dodge the Rex’s first attempt to eat him, veering to the left and breaking from the crowd only to get grabbed while trying to hide in a building, dragged behind a car, and consumed. Most of the other deaths in the movies, the victims are aware of dinosaurs before their demise. Not this poor bastard. Also, who knows what he was doing that night. Was he running errands? The majority of characters who get killed made the mistake of either going to or working at an island full of dinosaurs, even though most didn't deserve their fates at all. That poor guy though? Sure his death wasn’t the most memorable or creative but it feels very painful. Fun fact for the viewers: Dieter dies almost the exact same way John Hammond did in the original novel. The reason they die so quickly from tiny Dinos? Compys saliva actually carries a poison similar to the venom of Cobras.

Actually, the dinosaur that kills Hammond in the novel is actually a Procompsognathus. Procompsognathus in the novel is known to be venomous, but the ones that killed Dieter is a Compsognathus, which aren't venomous at all.

Emanuel Theodorus Yes, because a fanmade wiki is totally going to know if the writers screwed up, right? If you actually bothered to do some research, you would know that Compsognathus doesn't have a triassicus species, only Procompsognathus. With Berk being a Paleontologist, he would have known this. After reading the book, I actually felt sorry for Nedry. In the movie he's portrayed as a greedy turd but in the book, he and his team at Cambridge that worked to develop the programs, and computers for JP had clearly been mistreated by InGen. Basically the same sort of corporate mistreatment you can find in stories on rSlash's channel. Yeah, he did what he did but that's again another example of why you do not fuck around with your tech support guys. Also "Gennaro" is actually Ed Regis from the book, the real Gennaro is a fucking Chad. As for people calling him a coward, let's see how you react when the 7-15 ton animal with a bite force of roughly 13,000lbs is clearly no longer contained.

That’s really interesting, I had a very spiteful, arrogant, and greedy vibe from Nedry in the books. He could have absolutely been mistreated and acted as a sort of revenge thing but in the book Nedry seemed very full of himself and greedy even when others were clearly “worse”. Maybe it’s because I half read half listened to the audiobook and listened to “Nedry” so that may have swayed me. Totally agree about Genarro though

Dustin G. Thats the thing I think most people forget about Zarahs death she didn't die quick, or in so much pain they couldn't think straight, like most people on this list. No Zarah died SLOW and in great pain, no so much pain your brain turns it off or sends you into shock, but in terrible physical pain. See when you watch the scene when she dies and look frame by frame you can clearly see that her body is sitting perfectly on the Mosasaurus's tounge saftely away from its second set of teeth. Which means when she was swallowed with the Terrasour, she had been stabbed in her shoulders/chest by talons, droped a height of at least 40ft, submerged, then had her sides/ribcage bashed several times underwater then stabbed by talons again before being swallowed ALVIE. So all in all her likely injurys are, broken collar bones and shoulder plates, broken or strained neck from whiplash, several broken ribs and possibly damaged/interally bleeding internal organs. She most likely died from some form of suffocation inside the esophagus or stomach of the Mosasaurus's, oh theres another thing too if she made it all the way to the stomach before death theres the feeling of being dissolved by powerful stomach acids, or crushed to death by said esophagus. Which means she had enough time inside the thing to somewhat calm down long enough to have the realization that she had been eaten and thats how she was gonna die. Then had to wait for death... Zarah didnt just die brutally, she got straigh up Fucked... HARD...
