Great Story !! When Star Wars came out, my grade school English class did a letter writing session to,people that we liked or looked up to. I wrote to Chuck Yeager for obvious reasons and a kid named Paul wrote to George Lucas. In his letter, Paul told George how he was planning to design his bedroom in a Star Wars theme and asked for any hints. Several weeks later, after school, we all got a phone call from Paul to hurry up and get over to his house. George Lucas had shipped him the ENTIRE Star Wars toy and comic line, among other things for his room. I kid you not, there were boxes of stuff sitting in his driveway. We went nuts unpacking his treasures. The following day nearly the entire class wrote letters to Lucas LOL, unfortunately non of us got a response. What a neat thing he did back in the golden years of the 70s. Thought you’d appreciate this one. Keep up the good work.

I’m 53, so it’s no surprise for me to relate to all of these amazing toy lines. Star Wars was of course my favorite. But every line that was mentioned I completely agree with in how unique and beautiful designed they were. My brother had the Six Million Dollar Man series of toys and still has them. He was born in 1965, so the original GI Joe 12” figures were also what he played with along with the Evil Knievel stunt cycle. I remember being in toy isles and really enjoyed looking at all the different toys from Kenner, I recall sending them proof of purchase seals for many years and waiting to receive my figures with great anticipation. Another excellent video as always Tony! Made my day

What I do like is the extra effort for detail when displaying the toys. For example, when you showed the Kenner Star Wars bounty hunters at 12:38, you displayed them exactly as they stood in the movie, when we first saw them in Empire Strikes Back.

Professional Video. Knocked it out of the park. The Indy line really is something special. You really showed that with those beautiful pictures. I did have a couple of the figures as a kid growing up. I wager the Indy line needed to be marketed to an older demographic that didn’t really exist. Possibly could have marketed more to the modelers crowd. You can’t blame Kenner though for that. Indian Jones was more for an older demographic. I think it was also the fact of so many great lines were competing with each other at the time. 😊

I remember part of the lack of appeal in the Adventures of Indiana Jones series was that there was a point where the pegs had “German Mechanic” figures and nothing else. I had Indy, Toht, “Civilian Clothes” Belloq, the Cairo Swordsman, and “Soldier Disguise” Indy. I remember drooling over the pictures of the playsets, but never found any of them “in the wild”.

So pleased to see the Super Powers line making the list! Regarding Batman's closed fists and a "Batarang" accessory, that would have been easily remedied with extended wing tips on the `rang (to serve as grips) and small holes in the fist for insertion. He could wield his most iconic bat-gadget, AND be ready to knock the Joker's lights out, lol. Basically, something akin to what they did with the Batarang that was supplied with the first (and god-awful) 1989 Batman movie figure (with that terrible pudgy face-sculpt that was "supposed to be" Michael Keaton), which featured a retracting "bat cable" (stemming from the utility belt buckle, and the Batarang was sculpted to thread the cable through for a smooth "ascension" - well, if you've seen the figure, you know what I'm on about)... However, the figure's hand was sculpted in a more traditional "relaxed" c-grip or "accessory grip" rather than a closed fist, but it could have worked either way. It really is too bad the SP figures did not have more accessories, but, the upside of that is, that no accessories provided = no accessories LOST.
@BlackieNuff3 ай бұрын
I suspect the Indiana Jones sculpts were also borrowed from the Lone Ranger action figure line - a very short-lived and limited line, but great little figures - nicely detailed if nothing else. The guns could be inserted into hip holsters, which for me was a very nice feature in any figure wielding a pistol/blaster.

We (my older sister and I) had Steve Austin and the lab playset and also most of the 'Star Wars' Ep IV main characters. I acquired a plastic toy boat at a flea market that rattled peculiarly because somebody had closed up an action figure in the hull. It was completely mummified in masking tape, making it kind of creepy-looking when I popped the boat open and found it. It turned out to be a first-series Boba Fett that some kid had decided to hide, for some reason. It was so long ago that I can't tell you whether it had the working rockets or not; I was so young I didn't even know what I had until years after it was lost to childhood toy history.

Damn! I missed out on most of these toys. Almost all of them came along when I was an adult. The only one I may have liked was Steve Austin, but he never appeared in toy shops. None of my friends owned one either. I wasn't even aware that there were Star Wars Toys out there, because I lost interest in the franchise the moment those sodding Teddy Bears made their debut. Bloody hell, I missed out on so much fun. Fair play to all the lucky children who got to experience these now classic toys when they were young. You lucky beggars.

Holy crap a top 10 toy list with toys I actually had! lol. Unfortunately when I was in middle school my step fther forced me to throw away most of my toys, and I lost the rest when my mother divorced him and he did something that made it impossible for me to pack the rest. But the one toy I managed to salvage from my early childhood was my combat belt Batman. Still have him too. But I had the Jurassic Park toys, Power of the Force Star Wars, Batman Returns (Which would be on my top 10 kenner list) I especially wish I could have saved my Lost World toys, especially the Bull T-Rex.

Jurassic Park/The Lost World is easily my favorite toyline ever. Human figures with cool attires, over-the-top equipment and cute dinosaur babies; cool vehicles with a plethora of action features; and gorgeous dinosaurs from many species. I didn't really mind that most humans weren't movie-accurate. The line itself felt like its own thing, much like The Real Ghostbusters or Aliens, both of which had their own interpretation of the live action characters.

@ActionFuzz3 ай бұрын
@@timothyward8695 speak for yourself. TOTAL JUSTICE had the very rare combination of both collectability and playability. It's as if each hero was pulled directly out of the 90s JLA comics. Despite having only 5 points of articulation, this toyline looked better then anything MARVEL had out at that time. Which had me very disappointed since I prefer MARVEL over DC.

Personally, I'd have added Kenners Aliens toyline to the list. Maybe not as popular as your 10 but this was a great line. Lots of different and interesting aliens, human figures with action accessories and a number of vehicles, which i think some people may forget the Alien line had like 5 or 6 vehicles. Still, great list. Six Million Dollar Man is an all time favorite of mine.

@@jasperswarp I liked what they were going for, but the sculpts were lacking. I have the Superman and Green Lantern from the line. The figures all look deformed humanoids standing with their arms and legs spread out wide like sumo wrestlers. Plus, the figures are flat out 90s in design. Mullet Superman, Spear-hand Aquaman, Kyle Raynor Lantern.

If this was a top 15, I'd like to think other toy lines would have got a chance to make it into the list like Sky Commanders, Starting Lineup, Aliens/Predator, Swamp Thing, RoboCop & The Ultra Police and even the honorable mention itself, SilverHawks; but as the top 10 it is, I think it is mostly well done. Although personally, I would have made the Indiana Jones one a 2nd honorable mention to make room for Sky Commanders, but as Tony said, is a personal favorite of his so I understand.

The original Star Wars lines were my faves. Only had the Darth Vader TIE Fighter, Land of the Jawas set and a diecast Imperial Star Destroyer and some figures, but I liked the pre Special Edition Star Wars. Still, it could've benefitted from having the articulation of Hasbro's G. I. Joe: A Real American Hero. Funny you referred to Kenner being acquired by Hasbro, as in Gary Larson's Toy Galaxy/Secret Galaxy KZbin channel, when a video cites Hasbro getting control of a competitor, Mr. Larson quips: "Hasbro- Till all are one." 😀

I don’t think it’s comparable to a battery compartment. It’s like riding in the back of a pickup truck, something that people did all the time in the 80s. It’s still not as bad as the Extreme Ghostbusters Ecto one that could only fit two barely
