Probably a pretty common one, but Hbox vs Armada on EVO 2016. To this day I get gosebumps. And about other smash games, a second one I like so much Puppeh Vs. Officer Jenny on Fall Arcadian in Smash 4 because it breaks all the stereotypes lol. A woman an a kid o high level gameplay. And as honorable mentions, Mew2king being beaten by Salem's ZSS on Brawl, and Prodigy beating MKleo on SSBU.

I know it isn't as historic compared to some of the other classics on this list, but Wizzy/Zain at SCL was just different. One of my favorite player matchups, prime play on both sides, and the final stock was one of the most intense minutes of Melee ever

"And Plup wins Genesis 5!!!!!" While probably not as important in the overall history of Melee, this was definitely one of the most important sets for me as a viewer. It proved to me that Melee could move on to new talent, interesting storylines could still happen, and there was still a lot more to be played. Also shoutouts to HMW and Vish for the call. Hype AF.

I was about to say that Mango and Armada played a 10 game set at MLG Anaheim 2014 cause I saw 3 sets (all Game 5) on liquipedia but I forgot they played in Pools, Winners Finals, and Grand Finals, with Armada winning only in Pools. Cause looking at the set history on liquipedia makes it look like Armada beat Mango in Winners Finals Game 5 and then Mango took two Game 5 sets from Losers

Mang0 vs armada at royal flush is so underrated it is insane. To give the context for why this set of grands is so amazing, armada was legit looking unbeatable for almost a year. From September 2016 to may 2017, armada lost 1 tournament (big house 6) but won major after major, most of the time looking unstoppable. He had won 10 straight sets vs hbox, beat mang0 so bad at g4 that people called it a speedrun, has an 8-2 vs M2k in 2016 and brutally 3-0d leffen at summit 4, while mang0 had a respectable game 5 loss to armada in winners semis, but with mang0 being down 0-2 vs shroomed in losers quarters, it was looking over. Plus mang0 was in a huge slump leading into royal flush (9th at summit 4, 7th at smash rivalries, 3 losses in a row to chudat) to the point where everyone jokingly called him a Mario kart streamer. But with mang0 making the 3-0 reverse comeback and mang0 convincingly beating dfox and hbox, mang0 was now in grands to face armada, but similar to g4 armada looked ahead the entire time and was up 2-1 and was up a Stock game 5. Then mang0 with one of the craziest mangles ever and a clutch up air was now in set 2. But again similar to set 1, armada was ahead 2-1, but this time, by the time game 5 went back to fountain, armada looked completely lost. After one of the most convincing game wins mang0 has ever had vs the Swedish sniper, the crowd popping off with him and mang0 doing a falcon stomp irl. Mang0 finally ends armada’s dominant streak he had since November last year.

Correction: at WinterGameFest 2011, Mango went Falcon all throughout set 1, but went mainly Falco in the second set after dropping two games as Falcon. It's minor though, and the asterix should maybe still be there, just thought I should clarify. Otherwise, STELLAR video as always.

Kind of surprised that Wizzy vs Zain at SCL Week 3 wasn't here, but my pick for another old school set if MOAST 3 hqd to be on here would be either Jack Garden Tournament or MLG Anaheim 2006, Jack Garden Tournament established how people play Falco now, back when he was just a laser spammer and showed pillar combos and chaingrabbing being used to full effect (5/6 of the games were on FD, back then the only stages in Japan were Dream Land and Final Destination, and Ken is the one who counterpicked Dream Land for Game 2) and also established the Marth-Falco matchup for the rest of time, and while MLG Anaheim 2006 might not have inspired as many people to play Melee as MOAST 3 or JGT GFs, the very shortlived storyline of Ken vs PC Chris was one everyone wanted to watch, after PC won at the New York Opener and Ken dominated him with his counter strategy, PC adapted to playing around Ken's counter and had two sets and while set 1 didn't go the distance with a 3-1 win for PC, set 2 went Game 5 last stock in a very nerve wracking last stock situation (even though old school stages came into play with PC taking like 70% from the cars on Mute City on his last stock) and is (imo) definitely the most hype Grand Finals set from anything before Genesis 1 just from a gameplay standpoint and also pretty good from a narrative standpoint, there's a reason MLG Anaheim 2006's GF set got special treatment with hype music in the documentary

The one grand finals I really, REALLY am disappointed to not see is The Big House 9 between Zain and Losers Mango. The commentary from Scar and Toph was legendary. I'll never forget "Infinite games!", and "There's still more Melee to be played!" Even more so, the narratives were amazing. Mango hadn't been a dominant force in a long time, arguably since 2014. He'd had wins here and there, but Hbox, Leffen, and Armada were the ones that you EXPECTED to win. He went into Losers early, and a tournament win seem farfetched. Meanwhile, Zain was quickly rising to near the peak of Melee's rankings, and seemed to be untouchable. He made it to GFs on Winners side with only a handful of games dropped the entire tournament. His Marth ate spacies for breakfast, and now he could beat Hbox. All the while, Melee as a whole seemed to be in decline. Evo dropped the game, and view and attendance numbers for tournaments were down. Three of the five gods were either retired or barely played. Hungrybox's Jigglypuff was boring to many viewers, and frustrating to play against, yet he won almost every tournament he entered. Could this be the beginning of the end? Then Mango goes on an insane Losers run, culminating in a Grand Finals that was so heart-pounding that watching the VOD still causes me to jump up and down and yell after multiple viewings. Mango, the hero of Melee, wins in Game 10, and the celebration is triumphant. I can understand that Summit 11 was probably greater, with an even greater narrative and sets. And given the similarities and the player combo, I can understand why it didn't make the list. But I truly believe it belongs.
