I have only seen a few of his dramas so far but I've already become such a huge fan. I'm currently watching _Crossfire_ but plan to watch many others as well. My fav characters of his, so far, are Ling Buyi and Ashile Sun. For a couple reasons, I ended up loving _The Long Ballad_ more than I did _Love Like the Galaxy._ Still, I love his two characters in those dramas equally ☺️

Long Ballard there was no connection felt was like a play. No connection between Ml an fl. Ml is good but nothing like Love like the galaxy. He was superb you could feel his emotions even with his eyes. And how fl was so awesome

"Love Like the Galaxy" should be on top 1, its the most viewed, most successful & top grosser even internationally. The most requested drama series to be released in Netflix in other countries. It was also given an award in US, in which both Wu Lei & Zhao Lusi won Most Outstanding actor/actress award for the year 2022.. It's my most favourite chinese drama of all time, way far better than "Long Balad"... Plus Wu Lei mentioned, his character in LLTG is his most heavy & most challenging role he ever done.

Ling Buyi is a more complex character, yes. However, "The Long Ballad", IMO, is a better and more enjoyable drama. It has more character development and an overall positive atmosphere where even many of the "bad" characters had redeeming arcs. Wu Lei's Ashile Sun is iconic and incredibly likable. LBY was a complex, great solo character but his relationship with the immature Shao Shang(who was more in love with herself and the empress) was very frustrating and did not feel positive at all. The way she treated him seemed to be dependent on her mood, and the fact that she punished him for 5 years because he made errors that she herself _also_ had a hand in creating was incredibly negative and did not sit well with me. She blamed him the entire drama and pretty much refused to be with him until he agreed to take all the blame instead of really growing and finally acknowledging some of her own flaws. Way too self-victimizing. Just not a good message or a likable love story.

Sure I've watched both & his acting continues to get better but I seriously got pissed off over Shao Shang treatment towards Ling Buyi. The guy isn't perfect he clearly has issues but given what he went thru with his "mom" it makes sense how he became the person he was because of those circumstances. I get that she has issues too being abandoned because of a scheme her aunt & grandmother made has made her jaded & wearily towards others. But it still doesn't excuse her treatment its like oh yes I expect you to trust me 100% I need to know everything but I won't give you the same courtesy is some total BS. A relationship whether romantic, platonic or any kind can't work with that type of mentality. It was frustrating to watch the second part because of that. Very hypocritical of her what he went thru isn't something that can be shared so easily, explained or understood. I'm not saying she had it easy cause she didn't & her parents coming back into her life is a huge adjustment for her. Don't even get me started on her mother. It's no wonder Shao Shang preferred seeking & finding mother figures elsewhere. Her mom doesn't realize until later how much her belittling & condescending treatment furthers her daughter away from her. But it still fucking pissed me off I literally wanted to skip so many parts in the second part because of Shao Shang's flippy attitude of Ling Buyi. He did so much for her without her realizing it he didn't expect anything from her he just wanted her safe & happy even if it wasn't with him. But her attitude towards his actions his plans that he had set in place before meeting & falling in love with her can't just easily be overturned in a couple of days. His revenge makes complete sense it was more then just a blood feud. Idk I much prefer TLB over LLTG. I know it's not the actress fault my dislike for the character its the role she was given but I can't honestly say I was a fan of Shao Shang. I rarely like watching tragedies but I was honestly hoping he died in the end just so he could have some peace & be away from her. Maybe then she would have opened her eyes & see that she wasn't without fault for him not completing trusting her either.

Long Ballad is the best. The choreography was awesome and the story line did not drag. Everything was clear. In LLTG, the first 9 episode was so draggy and there was a huge chunk of the series missing…. especially the part when they went to rescue her dad. The story was good but it could have been reduced down to 50 episodes. The grandmother was super annoying and the mother was ridiculous at times with her disciplinary choices.

Agreed, for me I found the start of LLTG very underwhelming and I skipped a lot of the aunt, grandma, and mom dynamics. Understand that it was necessary to explain why Shaoshang was the way she is. Tencent’s requirement to shrink the drama to 56 episodes left a lot to be said for the missing plot (if the director ever released the extended version I’d rewatch it minus the start), but agree it could’ve been shortened. I only really fell in love with the show once she accepted him post the wedding proposal. Initially, I didn’t warm to TLB, I found Sun pining over Changge from day dot but she didn’t really give him the time of the day until after his mom’s incident and she left the grasslands. Also the kiss 😂😂 Definitely loved it more the second time I watched it. Also, given LLTG was 1-2 years after TLB, I found Leo’s performance matured even more. I loved Buyi/Zisheng for his torn character and subtle emotional inflections/nuances. Love Leo in all his performances. Poor guy always falls hard for the girl first ❤😢
