പണ്ടൊക്കെ നമ്മൾ സിനിമ കാണുന്നത് കഥ നോക്കിയായിരുന്നു. പടം എങ്ങനെയുണ്ട്, നല്ല കഥയാണോ? എന്നാണ് നമ്മൾ ചോദിക്കാറ്.ലോഹിതദാസിന്‍െറയും, എം.ടി യുടെയും,ടി.ദാമോദരന്‍െറയുമെല്ലാം സൃഷിടികൾ മൂലകഥയ്ക്ക് പ്രാധാന്യം ഉള്ളവയായിരുന്നു. അത് സംവിധായകർ നന്നായി ചിത്രീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. എന്നാൽ ഡയലോഗുകളിലൂടെയാണ് അവിടെ കൂടുതലായും കഥാപാത്രങ്ങൾ തങ്ങളുടെ ശക്തി അറിയിച്ചത്. മഹേഷിന്‍െറ പ്രതികാരവും, തൊണ്ടി മുതലും, കമ്മട്ടിപ്പാടവും, ആമ്മേനും, ഈ.മ. യൗഉം ഒന്നും നമുക്ക് അറിയാത്ത കഥയൊന്നുമല്ല. എന്നാൽ സിനിമ ഒരു ദൃശ്യമാധ്യമമാണ് എന്നും, അവിടെ കഥയ്ക്ക് വലിയ പ്രാധാന്യമില്ലെന്നും, വ്യത്യസ്തമായ അവതരണത്തിലൂടെയും,ദൃശ്യഭാഷയിലൂടെയും പ്രേക്ഷകരുമായി കൂടുതലായി സംവേദിക്കാൻ സാധിക്കുമെന്ന് തെളിയിച്ചത് ഈ തലമുറ തന്നെയാണ്. ഭരതനെയും, പി. എൻ. മേനോനേയും, കെ.ജി ജോർജിനെയും വിസ്മരിച്ചല്ല ഈ പറയുന്നത്. തീർച്ചയായും മലയാള സിനിമയുടെ ഭാവി ഈ തലമുറയിൽ സുരക്ഷിതമാണ്. മറ്റേത് കാലത്തേക്കാളുമധികം. കൂടുതൽ തിളക്കത്തോടെ.

ഡയലോഗ് മാത്രം അല്ലായിരുന്നു, പണ്ടത്തെ സിനിമകളിൽ, വൈശാലി പോലുള്ള സിനിമകളിൽ ദൃശ്യ ഭംഗി ഇല്ലേ?, mt സിനിമകളിൽ ഡയലോഗ് വെച്ച് മാത്രമാണോ മുന്നോട്ടു പോകുന്നത്?, ഒരു അപവാദമായി നില്കുന്നത് ഒരു പക്ഷെ ലോഹിതദാസ് സിനിമകൾ അത്തരം, കഥകൾ ഇന്നുള്ള ആര് ഉണ്ടാക്കും? ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ ആളുകൾ മോശം ആണെന്നല്ല പറയുന്നത്, ദിലീഷ് പോത്തൻ ഒക്കെ നല്ല ഡയറക്ടർ തന്നെയാണ്, ഇനിയും നല്ല സിനിമകൾ ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നും പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നു

@@areatalks9958 ഭരതനെയും(വൈശാലി, താഴ്വരം, രതിനിർവേദം etc.. etc) അത് പോലെയുള്ള മറ്റു സംവിധായകരയെയും വിസ്മരിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്ന് പ്രത്യേകം പറഞ്ഞല്ലോ. കഴിഞ്ഞു പോയ കാലത്തെ എല്ലാ പടങ്ങളേയും കുറിച്ചു അടച്ചല്ല പറഞ്ഞത്. ദൃശ്യഭാഷയിലൂടെ കൂടുതലായും അവതരിപ്പിക്കപെടുന്നത് ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ സിനിമകൾ ആണ് എന്നാണ് പറഞ്ഞത്. പണ്ടും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അന്ന് അങ്ങനെയുള്ള സംവിധായകർ കുറവായിരുന്നു എന്നെ പറഞ്ഞുള്ളൂ.

According to me Lijo jose is the most talented director among everyone and he is incomparable coz most of the directors who you listed have a tendency to repeat the same success pattern and wanted to satisfy the audience. But Lijo is not making the films for the satisfaction of the audience he just wanted to show the brilliant creativity which he is having. He didn't care about the failure of the film "Double barrel"because he knows those types of films will be appreciated later only and will never shake the box office right now.Actually he making the movies beyond his time.

Anyway,the movie shavam is really good and it felt highly realistic. Pinne bro paranjallo theme directork manasilayillannu thonniyenn ath brointe verum thonnalaanu. There is no other directors in Malayalam film industry who makes such realistic one-take scenes. The alltime best director in malayalam is sibi malayil. Majority of his films were penned by renowned script writer lohoitadas. Those films were evertime super hits. What differentiates them in terms of directorial skills is that their own films. We could easily tell that Lohithadas actually lacks skillsets as a director. Just compare Kanmadam and Kireedam. In both of them big B Mohanlal( He is also a big b as you all know) was hero. Compare the 'Craftsmanship' between them. You could clearly see that how Sibi excels Lohi in terms of craftsmanship. That is the thing which determines the boundaries between a script writer and director. His 4 films are qualitatively very good and faired well enough in the box office(Doubts about Thira and Malarvadi). Also he's probably the only director in this list with variety subject handling - Malarvadi (friendship), Thattathin Marayathu(love), Thira(thriller), Jacobinte Swargarajyam(family- feel good) and was successful in all. Another snub is "Sameer Thahir". Also I'll place Anwar Rasheed as number 1 because only he can deliver a Rajamanickyam/Chhotta Mumbai as well as Bridge/Aami/Usthad Hotel.

My point of view dileesh pothen will be on top of this list.Considering references point in their works its not just ashiq abu, there is amal neerad , rajeev ravi & lijo jose pallissery.

Directors that are hovering at the edge of this list are Midhun Manuel Thomas, Renjith Shankar, Arun Kumar Arvind, Shyju Khalid and Anil Radhakrishna Menon They've shown they have the skills to get some things right but they've not yet consistently produced the goods. (For reference, Left Right Left is probably my favorite new age Malayalam movie ). Thats why I think you need a cutoff for number of movies directed to make it to the list. While Alphonse Puthren is probably responsible for the movie that probably put Malayalam movies on the Indian map more than ever before, I still think his body of work is too little. Thats also the reason why I think Shyamaprasad or Rosshan Andrews need to be on this list. Their longevity compared to others here is remarkable in its own right. With Shyamaprasd, I sincerely believe that no one has treated inter-personal relationships better than he has in recent times. He has also touched upon a wide range of subjects. The man is the epitome of "soft touch" . Rosshan Andrews did Casanova. That's the only thing anyone can hold against him. The reason why I value their longevity is that they seem to have done a better job of being in touch with changing sensibilities than other directors that were active in their era. I definitely think they could definitely make the list over the likes of Khalid Rahman, Anjali Menon or Puthren though. Again Dr. this is just my opinion. I completely respect why you have the people you do in your list. P.S : I still cannot tell if Blessy is an amazing director or if the strength of the script is what elevated his movies.
