Emmanuel Margaritis It may be a Rowan Attkinson series, but be prepared for the exact opposite of "Mr. Bean". Its humor is based mainly on clever (or even hillarious) dialogues and scenario. While on the other hand, "Mr. Bean" has little or no dialogue at all. It is amazing how Rowan Attkinson managed 2 extremely different kinds of comedy so well. But if you ask me... Black Adder is simply untouchable! I am still laughing with all 4 seasons... more than 30 years later! :)

Ragnar Lothbrok is real but he didn't have a brother named Rollo (he is based on the first ruler of Normandy who was a viking). Athelstan is not real since there is any sources to suggest that he ever existed. Aslaug isn't Ragnars second wife but actually she was he's third wife and properly wasn't he's last either since sources suggest that he had either 4 or 5 wives during he's life. Ragnar also had more than the 5/6 sons and the 1 daugther we see in the show. Ragnar is definitely real and not just a myth but many events in Vikings might or might not be real it's hard to tell since different sources paint a different picture of the person Ragnar Lothbrok and there might even have been more than one Ragnar Lothbrok.

Jeppe Balle Aethelstan is real, he was the son of King Edward, but the story in Vikings was very loosely based. He was king of Wessex though after his brother died.

Milan Francis yes vikings story follows one main character and his life which is full of events while in GoT it focuses on a few characters instead. I feel like people only like GoT story because it has different stories which always keeps things fresh but that's not good when you try to argue storys because the writers need multiple peoples storys to keep there story rich.

Was a good show, but could've been a thousand times better, I've never seen a show with more plotholes than Merlin, like almost every episode there are plotholes and even the overall plot has some major plotholes, and the fact that there was no blood made it not as good as it could have been. Was entertaining, but great story, horrible execution.

I'm really, really glad Vikings took the #2 spot! There was no way anything was gonna beat GoT here, just in terms of sheer popularity, but the rest of the list was up in the air. The one show that probably should be on here (if this video had come out a little later in 2015) is The Last Kingdom! It's a pretty unknown show, especially considering that it's only had 1 season so far, but it's actually been fantastic.

Not to mention the "modern touches": Apollo racing with flying skateboard, and having a "rave parties" where guests got "high" with pills (and they dared called it "ambrossia"), Aphrodite looked like the cheapest bimbo cheerleader, and then.... archangel Michael pops out at some point and saves the day, speaking about the "one true God that is coming"... Give us a break guys!

Give us a break!! 😂😂 And the only place where centaurs, satyrs, harpies and such showed up during Middle Age were first the tapestries then the paintings with classical themes!! 😂 Sure Xena's creators went often overboard in order to attract younger audiences, but religions did actually mix up lots in ancient times - a basic example is the Romans taking half of the greek god pantheon and making it their own with new names....and when you remember that archangel Gabriel revealed the Quran to Muhammad, that huge artistic license of Michael showing up makes a bit sense. 😜😇

The Renaissance belongs to both the Late Middle Ages (i.e. 14th-15th centuries) as well as the start of the Early Modern Period, i.e. 16th century. We usually use the year 1500 as the end date for the medieval period, so yes, Renaissance-period Europe can be included in this list. In that case, the only one that doesn't make sense is Reign, which is set in the mid 16th century.

Today's shows GOT, Vikings, Black Sails etc. are truly detailed with engaging stories, character development and adding history to fiction. Sometimes history is more interesting then fiction. Great quality. Ever since human beings first sat down by the fire and started telling stories to each other people added good measure of fiction and grandeur to them. In recent times stories were compromised by soap operas with 10 years run, special effects and non sense. I am happy they finally realised that people like good story telling.

To be honest.. I'm a huge GOT fan! But i have to say.. There is only 1 tv show that beat Game of Thrones... Vikings. GOT are like: Start of the season-Abit cool.. Then the entire season is competly BORING and then the last episode is awesome. Vikings is so badass all the way and are based on a true story. And the charachters....

The Borgias is amazing and for a Tudor era period drama, I definitely recommend Wolf Hall over The Tudors. The Hollow Crown Series (starting from Richard II and ending the saga with Richard III) is also superb and so is Medici: Masters of Florence (season 1 is the rise of the Medici family with Cosimo and season 2 is about Lorenzo the Magnificent).

Rome and Spartacus take place several centuries before the start of the Middle Ages. Black Sails is set in the Golden Age of Piracy, which lasted from about 1650-1730, and The Musketeers takes place in the 1620s, where as the medieval period is typically considered to have ended in the 15th century.
