vikings was way better imo, the last kingdom bastardized the books way too much. The conflict between Uhtred's loyalty to the danes and the saxon was a crucial part of the first 4 books that wasnt present in the show. The show didnt spend enough time with Uhtred and Ragnar the older to show the love Uhtred had for the Danes and their culture. Additionally the costume design was abysmal, with completely un-historical armour and tactics being used despite them being present in the books.

17:30 Game of Thrones before it went downhill because George R.R. Martin didn't publish more of his A Song of Ice and Fire books and D&D had to rush everything so that they can make their Star Wars project. The said project was canceled anyway.

BBC’s Merlin was unique also because for pretty much the whole show Arthur remains unaware (a.k.a. totally oblivious LOL) of Merlin’s magic, with everyhing that entails. No other take on this medieval legends cycle, earlier or later, did that.

Merlin is one of the best series ever. I have already watched the series more times than I can count. The relationship between him and Arthur is something else that I haven't had the chance to see until today. Beyond the good plot, this relationship are the heart of the series. Must watch.

The Last Kingdom in the long run is definitely the best‼️ Vikings lost it’s flame when Ragnar died and Game of Thrones started to crumble at season 7. But The Last Kingdom stood solid straight through ‼️ And for those that say The Last Kingdom went to far from Its source material. Well this is what I have to say about that, The author ✍️ himself said he’s ok with the fact that The Last Kingdom tv series is different from the books, he endorses the show! And said he really enjoys it! And says he gets irritated when people say the show went to far from the books‼️ It’s settled‼️

Vikings and Game of Thrones are honestly my favourite shows ever. I absolutely love Vikings because of the overall acting and the disgusting and bloody battles. And I love Game of Thrones because like he said in the video, you never know when one of your favourite characters is going to die. I think that’s what gives you the adrenaline rush of watching it because you never know who is going to be next

People really over exaggerate how bad the ending was. Yes, it was rushed as fuck, and they went for spectacle over character, but that does not negate how legitimately *perfect* the first 4 seasons were- they were one of the most, if not the most, faithful book adaptations ever put to screen. Even seasons 5-7 were better than most other fantasy adaptations we get, especially nowadays.

I'd say the Last Kingdom is better than Vikings, and Game of Thrones falls apart so terribly at the end I don't know if it's still deserving of #1. Also, though it's not technically medieval I think Rome warranted a mention, that was better than half the shows on this list. You also missed Medici which again is better than a good few of these shows.

I'll still go back & watch "The Tudors" although I only watch the first 2 seasons. I don't think this is really a spoiler, but once Thomas More & Anne Boleyn are executed it's all Henry with no guidance whatsoever doing what he wants, which gets old really quickly. The scene where Thomas More resigns as Chancellor still gives me chills & makes me cry. It's not just an "I quit" scene, but is more the breakup of a bromance scene & both actors (Johnathan Rhys Meyers as Henry & Jeremy Northam as More) play it perfectly.

I love historical fiction. I watch period movies whenever I can. I love the costumes and the settings. But Reign has got to the WORST historical drama(?) in the history of television.
