The thing I love about watching and playing this sport is at the end of a good rally the opponent is happy even if he loses. Most of the time.

Yeah... my friends and I almost never get beyond 4 shot rallies but on the odd occasion, almost accidental, we hit a 20 shot marathon and we collapse in mutual admiration almost forgetting who actually won the point.

It's been fascinating reading all the responses below 😊 As we say, the results were based on a public vote on our website. But there are so many great rallies being mentioned, so we're thinking of making a 'Commenter Edition/Honourable Mentions' video, to make sure they get the airtime they deserve too! Comment below with your nominations (Men and Women) or 'like' someone else's comment if it's already been said 👍

Got to be the last one. It's like watching a normal rally replayed at twice the speed. Also love the way that Willstrop has the nerve to finish his epic rally with a triple fake.

Ashour vs shorbagy at 10-9, if you just walked in at that moment and watched the movement speed and hard hitting, you would think this is something extremely special, superhuman and alien. The Egyptian ultra aggressive style of play is really something to behold. It makes squash so watchable, especially after decades of relatively conventional Aussie, English and Pakistani plays which looked so boring in comparison. Sorry but that’s the truth.
@KnightMD4 жыл бұрын
I'm an Egyptian B player but won my local city league and reached every B final I'm played in here in Canada with the ultra aggressive drops from everywhere that even A players struggled against. You just need to be fit enough to reach the counter punch if they do get to it as they eventually anticipate your drops. If I worked on my long drives along the wall, I'd be an A player.

@@Limbiclesion Same here ...can't wait for the club to open again. In the mean time, I am doing a daily Shabana-style exercise against a wall in the attic; from a distance of approx. 2 meters it's a straight FH then one cross-court, one straight BH and and one crosss-court. Sounds easy but isn't. When I come out of this CV19 mess, I plan to have better balll control than before

Apart from the fact that the rally between ramy and shorbagy at 2012 Qatar was way ahead of their time, the longest rally between shorbagy and makin has to to be the rally of the decade. That inhuman evil rally, is too awesome to be the rally of the decade.
@ElectricSheep14 жыл бұрын
Agree, I would have picked the 2012 rally going into this, but after watching them all; the Shorbagy-Making rally definitely deserves to be up there. It's also impressive how Shorbagy can play such different styles at the highest levels.

Best rally I ever saw was Peter N. v Simon P. , Toc 90's, early round, game 1- score maybe 5-all to 15. Standing ovation. The fact that it was Game 1 of an early round, nowhere near game ball, just made it all the more impressive. And of course, it ended in a let- despite both players playing through and clearing. Made no difference...

Thing that impresses me watching these rallies is that these players are so athletic and flexible to never be out of a rally. They can cover the entire court. Not me! @psasquashtv There was a rally at Tournament of Champions years ago with David Palmer and Ollie Touminen. It was super contentious, and Palmer lost. There was a point where Ollie had Palmer on the ropes and hit a drive way past Palmer, where Palmer then turned around, launched himself in the air and flying waist height hit it off the back wall to the front. To my memory it was the dive of dives. Inside last 10 years?

For sure! That's why we put it to a poll rather than assert our own opinions, but it's 100% natural that some will disagree or think something has missed out. I think the problem with Ali rallies is that he makes it look too easy 😂 Is there a particular one you had in mind?

Hard to remember... Maybe one of the ones from Qatar 2017 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mICvkIBpo9xpl5Y), like 5:57, 16:44 or 23:52? Or even the recent rallies from this year's Canary Wharf (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIa8qaOHnKqCeKM) - 7:11? Mostly short rallies but only because both players were pounding the nick at will. It's an unrecognizable game from 10 or even 5 years ago.
