*Edit* Wow alot of poeple on here seem to care about how I was doing, I completely forgot about this comment. It has been 2 years and veganism is completely normal to me, my health is completely fine and I rarely ever get sick, my parents are more open to it now, both eating less meat although the still try to persuade me to have some eggs now and then. I always tell people that this is the best thing to ever happen to me. day 3 as a vegan- my mother says she is waiting for me to drop dead from malnutrition and my dad says 16 is too young,wait until you're old enough! I am kinda loosing my mind with everyone calling me crazy but im just going to keep on going.

I went vegetarian in 1974 when I was 15 and many people criticised me. But I stuck to it and went vegan in 1993. I'll be 60 in a couple of months and look 40. I've run nearly every day since 1986 and am still smashing it. I am lean, super fit and have a resting heart rate of 48. Everyone who laughed at me back in 1974 is definitely not laughing at me now. You stick to this diet and your life will become sublime.
@henrybruck90166 жыл бұрын
I'm so happy for your change! 😘 I went vegan overnight and when I told my mom she screamed at me like "what do you want to eat then, I can't cook like that" blabla and it took about 1-2 weeks before she started supporting me. Now 5 months later she cooks 100% vegan meals everyday, my sister went vegan and even if she would still eat a dead body when going out, she knows that I do the right thing + it is healthier! So why not support my decision? Good luck to you! :)

@Cali Girl there is the issue of vegan politics. It is not the best philosophy out there - far from it. There are things like ahimsa or non violence and there is situationalism where we act out of the greatest love on a case by case basis. There are also immense issues if you try to apply the definition of veganism in law and politics. It will wreak havoc. A vegan political climate would be hell. I would need to write you several essays to elaborate and show examples... even political science students won't get it without that. It is a serious roadblock people are going to be hitting this century - that veganism isn't good policy.

@welcomeback2mychannel5 жыл бұрын
Janice Rockenbaugh watch cutting out things with gluten. If you notice you feel unwell when you eat glutenous food, you should talk to a doctor as you could have either coeliac disease or something like fructose malabsorption, which needs treatment other than the exclusion of gluten. Gluten-free eating is only necessary for those with a diagnosed intolerance or allergy and excluding foods with it because of a trend can lead to excluding nutritious food.

i have studied biochemistry and physiology, and biochemistry is what it is. But physiology is loaded with reflections that emanate from those multinationals who sponsor medical universities. I got pissed with that: there is calcium in milk, they wrote in their books. Alright, but does this mean that this calcium is assimilable by us? of course not. I liked the reflection of this man who said, and how could we trust the FDA? though i have studied i just don't know if it's good or not for my health to be vegan. But what I know, is that it's good for the animals. So i do it. Vegetarian since 1994 (i was 42 years old), vegan since 2009 (i was 57), i am still full of energy, i work a lot, continue studying... have a very active life. I have been a vegetarian (not vegan since i consume dairy) my entire life. Never a single health problem for the last 45 years of my life. I don't even get a cold, cough or fever:) My whole family, including relatives and many friends have always been vegetarians. My dad is 75 and in tip-top shape (infact looks like he is 40year old, since he has been doing regular yoga and intense weight training for 2-3 hours at home, not even a gym, for the last 40 years). My mom is equally healthy. Grandma lived till 90, not a single health issue (did not even eat egg, in fact hated it). Our diet only consists of dairy, egg, whole grains, lentils, fruits and vegetables. My cooking only consists of 1 kind of lentil, 1 or 2 kinds of vegetables, maybe 1 fruit and tortilla/rice everyday. No smoothies ever. So anyone out there thinking of becoming a vegan or vegetarian, go ahead. you'll be fine. You will live a great healthy life. In fact you will save your body, your money (gosh meat is expensive!!) and the planet in the process.

Good for you for coming to this awareness! My reason for going vegan too, over 4 years ago, vegetarian for 10, feel so much better! I cook a big pot of food every day of organic carbs (rice/potatoes/yams or whatever unprocessed carbs you like) and protein (dried beans/lentils/split peas/quinoa or similar), about 50/50 carbs/protein ratio. Bring to boil and then simmer 20-30 minutes until soft. Smaller beans don't need presoaking and cook pretty quickly, can cook everything in the same pot if approximately same cooking time needed. Or start beans first and add faster cooking grains etc halfway through. When done, add a spoonful or two of organic coconut oil like sesame or coconut, some sea salt and spices if you want. Veggies too if you want. I eat a couple big bowls of this twice a day, plus lots of organic fresh fruit, raw nuts and some veggies. I think the biggest mistake new vegans make is not getting enough carbs and proteins as well as oils and healthy fats, so they are still hungry soon after meals. Also the volume of food might be more than used to because it takes more rice and beans to get full and satisfied. Listening to my body helped me with this tremendously. Hope this helps, very excited for you!

Just start by rating more fruits and veggies and only tiny pieces of meat unless you want to just quit cold turkey. are injected with too many hormones and antibiotics which we then ingest, as well as the high adrenaline and cortisol when they’re being slaughtered .
@lavie44854 жыл бұрын
You start slowly. In order to diminish the powerful positive impact eating a plant-based diet has on health, animals and the environment, meat eaters will call it a cult to create fear by creating fear they want people discouraged from experiencing it themselves and making their bown decisions about it. Frankly vegans could call meat-eaters a cult with blood of millions of animals on their hands, what blood is on the hands of any vegan? None. However l won't do that l will just say they are not conscious enough to understand the suffering they are participating in.

I start a juice and soup reset for my body today. Me, having eating meat for ALL my life... I'm truly self-reflecting and disconnecting of WHO I am. Last night, I revisited plant-based eating and Mediterranean Diet for health reasons. Fearing of even going vegan or plant-based because my significant other would always say something or tease about "vegans." Gut is sick for almost a year, not sleeping well, emotionally down, and losing my sense of self. Not only this... my body is inflamed. I'm going to be changing my way of eating completely after doing this cleanse. Lastly, after seeing this video I know I need to WAKE UP and start living again. This video reminded me of resetting myself ALL over AGAIN. Thank you!

I had severe acne on my scalp and nothing helped. I cut out dairy and that seemed to help a little. And one day I watching some random stuff on KZbin eating Nando's chicken. On the suggested videos was "The greatest speech ever" and I clicked on it. Gary's speech changed my life. I threw away the chicken I was eating and became vegan then and there.

This is truth! I became vegan, I am an epileptic. I pushed my wheelchair away, crawled, got out of my diapers, traied myself to eat after 8 days of vegetative tourretic seizuring and 1 yes later 7 epileptic seizures, so not two weeks after the epileptic seizures, I said no more, at 298.9 lbs, hypocalemia, diabetes 2, Bradycardia, I went vegetarian. In 8-1/2 months I lost 167 ls, but was afraid to eat and became anorexic. So, I went vegan, I eat all day now, I'm 64 in 4 months, can wear bikini jeans, tight T-shirts, beautiful skin, look close to late 40's, totally changed my life. I walk at least 6 miles a day because I still have horrible vertigo. I do not let that stop me from ballet nor hip hop in jazz dancing at home at least 2 hrs a day as I've been a determined dancer all my life. Thank you for this video. It is wonder to see how veganism has changed other people's lives. I do go off the wagon for whole milk though and sparkling water. I have witnesses for my life story and pictures to keep reminders to show myself and other people what I have been through, what determination can do, and if an epileptic can go through this and put their selves through this much pain and fear and phobias and take the chance of vegetating and seizuring and never coming back just to be a normal person again and healthy that anyone can do it.

I've been vegan for a few months now and I'm finally seeing changes in my body that I thought I'd never see. Finally loosing stubborn fat in places that I hated before. My hair is more shiny and I look like I've been out in the sun but it's December and I live in England. My confidence is growing and I don't know how but I'm a lot stronger emotionally as well.

52 years of age and 32 vegan meal in me over the past 6 1/2 days Only one meal had tuna in it. Im done just like that. In my 20s and 30s I was a fairy high level athlete in Bodybuilding winning several titles in my region and province. The information was what it was back then and animal protein was the be all and end all. I actually reconnected with my old coach after 23 years because I was tired of not looking or feeling the way I wanted . For me structure is everything and coaching in my opinion is valuable because I don't feel lost in what I am supposed to be doing that is appropriate for my stage of life. I had heard little blips about plant based whole foods from a few people that weren't doing it but had seen a few movies , I watched "What the Health" , Game Changers , HOPE What you eat matters" and "Forks over Knives" I know there is a few more that I will watch but its all the same and what more does anyone need that has a functioning neuron in their head. This is exciting stuff and as a RN and just a caring person in general it will be impossible not to share this info. Some will get it and some will not. Its all good. I want to be 80 hiking and canoeing on my future off grid property. Only being a week in the biggest thing I notice right now is the absence of my usually aches and pains and my workouts just getting back after a long time due to (broken neck) are kicking ass even currently recovering from a mild man cold. My mood also seems a little more calm not as irritated and bitchy and not letting usual day to day stuff bug me. So with all that in just 7 days Im excited for the next 50 years :). If anyone needs help with their fitness and life style Check out scottable.com Not cheap but you get what you pay for and what is a long healthy life worth to you ?The reason I plug him is because he has never not delivered to anyone in the 30 years I have known him that did 'Their job" and what remarkable is its not crazy fad diets and or the newest training methods of the week .Its simply proven science and research that simply cannot be contested Period. Veg on folks!!! pretty cool stuff for a person who had no idea because I simply didn't know any better.

Hello Klaus....just a passionate vegan and vegan activist from New York who loves the content of this channel, Earthling Ed, Footsoldier, Nutritionfacts.org, etc......I am a member of several Anonymous for the Voiceless groups (Long Island, NY/Manhattan, Queens; I might be attending the June 10th Cube in NYC, btw).....I haven't made any youtube videos lately, alhtough I would like to, just trying to figure out a unique approach to making vegan videos....haven't quite figured it out yet, but hope to....in the meantime, I am more active (in terms of posting) on Instagram @vegan_for_the_animals_1 .....keep up the great content! I'm loving the vegan community here on KZbin and Instagram....if you're ever in New York, I would definitely try to make plans to meet up with the PBN crew, as well as other KZbinrs (although I'm not directly in NY City, I do travel).....peace ! @@josie3221, A vegan diet is wonderful and civilized , but if someone is really sick , or has been badly hurt , a fruitarian diet will help them heal faster and better - IT'S MIRACULOUS !

Well a lot of doctors get encouraged by drug reps etc. to keep prescriping and it's up to the patient being alert enough to ask more questions before going on meds.

A fruitarian diet is severely lacking in nutrients. Add some raw sweet potatoes, sprouted chickpeas (not sprouts but sprouted) and leafy greens as well as onions and sunflower seeds. Those are all good to eat raw and are typically grown in more sustainable ways than almonds and what-not. Make salad out of finely shredded beets, carrots and apples together - add more apples and it tastes sweet while giving you lots of easy to eat beets. Don't stray away from veggies like that ... you are hurting yourself. Removing self harm is not part of veganism unfortunately ... veganism is far from the best approach to life.

My only problem with my vegan life is the "all the nutrients that you need" concept ....I started losing my hair because of the B12 deficiency that I acquired after being vegan after 10 months. Make sure that when you promote the vegan (plant based) diet that you also promote the need to add B12, Omega 3, Vitamin D and Calcium to the diet. My health food store has a great variety of vegan supplements that helped me tremendously. I didn't have anyone that advised me of the requirements.....I did it on my own 😃 #VeganForLife

Brittany Flowerday the problem is that many people don't know that. They go vegan without complete information and they do have issues when they make the switch. So they end up switching back.
