Likely because most of the danger is raw emotion, and emotion is artificial. Phsyics are not to be messed with: all natural' 😉. I can not wait to see what is number one. I was gonna point out how much of a miracle it is that none of these contestants didn't even sue production for breaking safety hazards, but I have a sneaking suspicion that all contestants signed a contract that waved their rights to do so.

They probably did, yeah, but I don't think you technically CAN fully waive your right to safety. It makes it much harder to sue, sure, but if someone puts you in an unreasonably dangerous situation when they had a duty to make it safe, you are still likely to have a case - to the best of my knowledge. See: the recent Twitch foam put controversy.

Howler monkeys. They were filming in the middle of their mating season and the monkeys would scream nonstop throughout the night. In the other 'worse' camp, the monkeys were not a problem.

What’s always been odd to me is with challenges like these they don’t wear any protective gear. Think of the challenge on MTV. They do physical challenges all the time or challenges where they fall into water but always wearing helmets, knee pads, mouth guards, etc

Physical contact challenges were so much fun. Definitely my favorites. The closest we get to that nowadays is water slaughter, and I honestly don’t like that challenge very much. It’s usually played in very deep water and just boils down to who can tug on the floating ring the hardest. I think Caramoan had the best version of that challenge by deciding to play it in more shallow water, which led to more interesting maneuvering from players.

I "love" how clearly post-production Jeff is when explaining the wrist warning at the Break Your Wrist challenge. But also Thank God bc while being worked on in the medevac they found a grapefruit sized tumor in Kourtney so that was the most lifesaving medevac in Survivor history

This was easily the Survivor video that I had the hardest time getting through. Watching people get injured, especially stuff like knees bending backward and faces getting cut open, it's really hard to watch. Survivor sounds fun in theory but I could never do it cause of stuff like this

I'm aware the contestants sign their lives away when entering the show but there has had to have been some injuries that caused some kind of permanent damage. My hand was permanently damaged in a minor mishap at work 12 yrs ago. I can Still feel the results when certain pressures are applied. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some lawsuits against the show over some of these incidents.

Whenever I heard someone in Season 41 say that "it was the hardest season ever" it infuriated me and at the same time made me laugh My family is from Guatemala and I've been to those jungles before. An 11-mile hike like that is more dangerous than all of season 41 combined

I really like Get a Grip and don't know why they never do it in water, because I think it would be way safer. Also if I was ever on Survivor I would hate the Blind leading the Blind challenge, especially the ones with the huge blocks... watching Spencer getting destroyed by those blocks physically makes me cringe every time.

I don’t know the players spent half their energy holding on to a pole and swimming takes a lot of energy just walking through water can drain someone’s energy. Some players also take a minutes to get up so I think I would be dangerous to add water

I understand there's a lot of consideration to take if doing this in water, but why haven't they at least considered a net? They had no problem building a strong enough net that would sustain them intentionally jumping on it from 25ft. All they have to do is use the same net and put the poles in the center

semi-unrelated but that chrissy confessional in your outro is one of the most iconic of modern survivor, i quote it so unnecessarily often PLEASE but to be more related, and i know this is similar to 32's almost-killed-caleb challenge where it's really the elements' fault it was so dangerous rather than the actual challenge design, but 42's recent water challenge where literally almost half the cast drowned from unreasonably insane high tide, where jonathan was the only one able to even carry his entire tribe to victory... yeah that was WILD

I disagree about the heat thing in that challenge from Kaoh Rong. I don’t think it would’ve been a problem if the digging area wasn’t so massive and deep. They’ve stayed in that filming area, but every future challenge involving digging has had a much smaller area and we’ve never seen anything close to what happened to Caleb

Yeah, I mentioned how the producers chose to make it more difficult which didn’t help. That said they left Cambodia after the next season and IIRC they never did another digging challenge for either 31 or 32 after Caleb’s evacuation.

Some challenges, like building a step puzzle using huge, heavy wooden blocks on HvV, you can immediately see the very real possibility for danger. Like what if one of them slips and falls, and those huge blocks come crashing down on them. Some seem simple enough, but can go bad very quickly. Like hanging on to a very high thin platform, for as long as possible. What if someone passes out,a very real possibility, and breaks their neck on the way down. Honestly some of these challenges are downright bone headed from production. Its only sheer luck they haven't killed or severely maimed someone.

There's actually one fatality in survivor history. On the French version of survivor one contestant had a heart attack during the filming of day 1, they never released the season because of that.

Surprised to not see the water challenge from 42, where Rocksoy had the ladder on his head and almost drowned. Maybe the challenge design wasnt so bad on its own. Its just that they should have realized the waves were too strong that day and had a back up challenge

I think that was left off the list because it went well when they tested it, and then the waves were a whole lot worse on the actual day of the challenge...all the others on this list were there more because of poor planning/design and not necessarily because of the weather conditions changing

That 11 mile hike was the highlight to that season. Really wish they'd have starts like that now. It gets everyone tired and you can tell a lot about your tribemates over such a long hike. People get irritable and you can see who is weak. Easily the peak of that season ha
