Ace video mate, I’m stunned at how crazy prices are at the moment. Some of these cost me just a few pounds in the early 2000s! Even Championship Hockey and Masters of Combat were in the £150-200 range when I completed my set.

Thanks for watching me and yes it's gone absolutely bonkers this last 2 years in particular I think. I don't know what the market will do long term but I'm not too bothered because I'm going to keep these for myself rather than looking to turn a profit but it is interesting to see and keep an eye on the market 👍

You have made so many people jealous with this vid ol buddy 🤣🤣 I think your right with the prices bud. I know a boxed hang on card is pricey aswel as I'm sure they were mainly loose cards over here that came with the console, that's the one I got back in the day. Make sure you got insurance buddy for them games 👍

Great video that Oli and really interesting to hear about the values. Like you said, could go either way in the future but don't see it going down anytime soon. Watching this made me think I could do something similar with the Wii U collection I've got. Great entertainment mate 👍✌️

Appreciate the shout out as always, doing Mecha8 review on Friday! As I said on Twitter I believe you're right and mine is the cart only you refer to which at £50 suddenly seems absurdly cheap. I have a (slightly sunbleached) copy of number 1 as well, but I've had that since the 90s so also absurdly lucky, especially as my manual is as good as yours.
@8BitBoyUK2 жыл бұрын
Cheers buddy. Yeah a few of us got either lucky or got in early (or a little of both). This definitely the end in sight for me and you but I do feel for some of the people just starting out collecting now. I will definitely be catching your video on Friday mate

That's fantastic buddy and thank you ever so much for watching. Unfortunately some of them have gone bonkers over the last 12-months in price. I'm lucky to have picked all of the really expensive ones up now but I do feel a bit sorry for those still searching for a full set. An everdrive is a fantastic idea and I want to try and get one soon for Mega Drive games as I never had one as a kid.

Awesome vid Ollie...Great to see how prices have changed in a relatively short time! I'm one of those that are around 7 titles off the full set...I see the prices your quoting and think I really should have got the set years ago but, I collect for so many consoles and a fair few with the full set being the end goal. The games I've added for other systems have gone to crazy prices also. I've learnt to be content with what I have, I'm not willing or able to spend over £250 on just one game so maybe I will get the set, maybe I wont...I'm in this for the long haul, I look at the titles I have left to get and think for the same money I can get so many titles for other systems towards those sets! especially when I use a multicart to actually play the games! Thankfully there are still so many games to be had for cheap for the newer ones to master system playing and collecting! 😉👍
@8BitBoyUK2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching mate and I do feel a bit sorry for collectors like yourself that have just a few to go but it seems that everybody is after the same ones. I had the opportunity to pick up a large haul of the big ones last year and I grabbed it. I remember thinking at the time of that I was spending crazy money but looking back at it now I would easily make my money back if I ever decided to sell them. Which I probably won't lol
@rodgyretro2 жыл бұрын
It's the ones new to the addiction/hobby I feel sorry for, the prices are mad that many come along throw crazy money into it then get despondent and give up, having not really enjoyed the games they have! I've plenty to keep me occupied, entertained, if and when the titles appear for sale reasonably I will snap them up, until then I have plenty to still collect for other systems. 😉

Great watch! There is done mega money tied up in these games alone let alone a few others bubbling around the £100. I was fortunate with my golden axe warriors and buggy run (albeit missing manual!) but the others are likely too much of a stretch now. I’ve never done across masters of combat so assume one needs to be well-networked to find one. Top vid as always Oli.
@8BitBoyUK2 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Quite a few of these are getting harder to find but to be honest one or two of them are still quite common so I'm surprised about the price. Masters of Combat is definitely going to get more expensive I think unfortunately 😬

@@8BitBoyUK completely agree. You may already have it planned but I’d love to see you give your views on some of these games. Perhaps a bit of playthrough and review. A lot of them I’ve refrained from looking up so I’ve no idea what’s pricey and great or vice versa!

@@RetroEdUK thanks buddy definitely some food for thought there. I would usually consider doing a master system challenge to give everybody the chance but the thing is that a lot of people like using OG hardware and these games are just not affordable at all. Really appreciate the feedback buddy

You'd be surprised at how many games now go for over £600 now too!

Although I only copy already I do feel a little bit for the collectors that don't own that one just yet and that may well now be the price that is going when people want to sell it on. I'd not heard of a couple of these games lol and that makes me want them even more. I'm trying to get a full megadrive set and it's an expensive happy that we all share. I blame reteoredsteve who got me wanting to collect master system. Can I get your opinion on the protective bags compared to protective cases?
@8BitBoyUK2 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy thank you very much for watching and yes I blame Steve for a lot as well 🤣 In truth he has as much Enthusiasm as I do so if he didn't get you then I probably would have lol. Complete Mega Drive set sounds awesome but I know is even more expensive than master system as I watch a little bit of Mike Rouse too. I generally would not bother with protective cases or sleeves because I play my games quite a bit I have a mate that is just swapping out all of the plastic sleeves to get acrylic cases and it is quite expensive but I think he is quite happy with the results. I think he plays most of his games using an emulator or everdrive so that is much easier. I recently bought a mega SG so I use the original cartridge every time but that's just my preference. thanks ever so much for watching again mate

Very interesting watch that mate, as if id made this when id completed the set smurfs would of been number 1 lol! If i had a pound for everytime someone on YT/Internet says "the bubbles gonna burst" in the last 11 years id have about 890 quid, they are the nay sayers and the salty whiney ones that have probably sold up long ago and are in regret, but it depends why you are in this hobby if its to make investments for later on in life then your a mug, if your doing it because you love collecting and dont care what they end up being worth then youve nothing to worry about imho
@8BitBoyUK2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching buddy and I couldn't agree more. Whilst some of these games have cost me a fair bit I've certainly not bought them with the idea of selling them on in mind and only spend what I can afford which sometimes is a few quid, sometimes its more. If they ended up being worthless then I really wouldn't mind that much as I have no intention of selling. I think collectors like me and you definitely got into it for the right reasons. I do speak to some people who I wonder about. Thanks again for watching buddy as always. You are the Godfather of Collecting Tooty mate 🔥🔥🔥
