I stopped playing at age 16 (except 1 gane at 18), and even then I've broken my nose twice, broken toes, dislocated my knee, had a slipped disc in my lower spine, multiple concussions and too many cuts and bruises to remember, all from playing rugby at high school level in Scotland

I stopped at 32, playing first XV club rugby, since I started playing in my first year of high school, i only left the field with an injury three times, and every time because the coach pulled me off because he could see i was injured, not because I lay there whining. I watched an interview with Uli Schmidt, the springboks best hooker ever, he said his father taught him never to show an injury, i was determined to do the same, I remember being lightly concussed once, I ended up playing a brilliant game, we weren’t pulled off in those days.

I played it from age six to age 35, now at almost 60 I have pain everywhere, except maybe my right little toe.😁😁

That's crazy... I know there are proper tackling rules, but even with that... sorry to hear about that

Very strict safety rules these days. Camera referees and assistant referees. Professional athletes rarely risk their careers with blatant illegal actions. Very strict disciplinary committees and lengthy suspensions act as a deterrent. Great reaction.

You have a very good rugby nation in South America, Argentina (countries like Chile and Uruguay are also getting much better in recent years). That team with the light blue (baby blue) stripes in the video is the Argentinian national team.

Absolute rubbish! What are you talking about? You cannot tackle above the upper chest/shoulder level and no head contact. Why comment when you are totally ignorant?

@ianarnett his having a laugh. Are you really that dry that you didn't get the joke.?
@ianarnett24 күн бұрын
@@ianrose56 when dealing with people who have absolutely no idea it’s rather stupid to introduce silly jokes to confuse them. I wasn’t sure whether he was really joking or serious, so as I worked on the basis that it was silly to try to confuse them, I took the line that he had no idea. So, yes I did get the joke, I’m not ‘dry’ and I didn’t think it was wise. But then I’m trying to help someone, not ridicule the sport and confuse. Thank you

Etzebeth (n°3 in this video, south africa) is the player I respect the less in this sport, as a player and as a man. Chabal (n°2, France) was a very brutal player, but he is known to be a very good man. I would not have put Botha n°1, I would have put Lomu (n°4, New-zealand) instead. He was not such a violent player. But he's certainly the most unstoppable player in the 40 last years.

It’s terrific you watched this, but you have learnt nothing about rugby and have only gained incorrect knowledge. These are exceptions to the norm, although rugby is a very tough sport, and some tackles here were illegal. Most people play the sport for many years, probably starting in their teens and retiring mid 30s. You do not get concussion every time you play, let alone injuries. Of course these happen but if it was as frequent as you think then no one would be left to play next week! These videos draw people to review and watch them but don’t actually tell anyone who is new to the sport anything. Rugby is played by men and women, both amateur and professional, across the whole world. I suggest you check out a video of the laws (not called rules) of rugby next. Thsnks for your interest.
