That was the 80s! You had the right to put yourself in danger. It was your own decision AND your own fault if something happened. Nobody would have thought to blame the driver if he had hit a spectator. That was called personal responsibility back then!

I heard that many times, after the cars arrived at the finish line of the stages, people found various torn pieces of fingers in the gaps by the doors, etc. Oh, and one sad piece of news, two of the three dead were children and the third was the mother of one of them.

The Audi OFFICIALLY had 450 hp and slightly over 900kg.... That means "at least 540hp" in Group-B terms. It could do a quicker lap on a F1 circuit on spikes in winter, than a F1 car in summer and when Group B was over, the S1 Quattro was used to break records at up to 1000hp on shorter hillclimbs with the same engine ;)

I very mutch doubt that. No doubt group B was crazy but unless u got official lap times to prove that i´m gonna assume thats bullshit. There is a reson why F1 has always been considered the fastest race car on a traditional race track.

I've heard it from multiple Rally and S1 sources, also from a former Group-B driver at a hillclimb, but you're right, also GPT says it's a known "legend" or that it's a famous statement among Rally drivers, but only can tell me, it's actually possible the Audi on ice would have won bcause of 4wd and spikes. But there is no proof this test ever happened. Interesting! It propably was a simple calculation by Audi or even just a car magazine. All i can tell you for sure is that Wittmanns S1 had over 1000hp at short hillclimbs and the front tires were half a meter over the tarmac in every gear when he floored it. They only gently touchd the ground while shifting^^ The original 2.3l 5cyl engine is insane. I had the same in my S2 coupe and it easily made 460hp on the tires, just by adding a wastegate, pop off, intercooler and chipping it.

Hi Fran, Merry Christmas and a happy new year.!! I see one of those Lancia Delta intergrale's just the other day. It's amazing to think there's still some about!!! I see it at a service station off the M5 in Devon at Jct 27 services. Jet black, they only produced the 200 and all were lefthand drive models. I reckon that car ,and it was in mint condition was worth around £100k easily.!! I have also sat in an RS 200 that was in a Ford dealership back in the late 80's ..!! A car that weights under 1000kg but has like 400hp is too fast for the safety reguirements they had at ghat time. Modern rally cars are faster going through the stage with a bit less power but they also are a lot safer. Those group B monsters were insane. A shit ton of power but crappy handling compared to modern rally cars

Some may find the below comment to be shocking. No it's not about the last crash which ended Group B, going into more detail than mentioned in the video would be too much. Edited to provide above disclaimer. Quite a few spectators lost fingers or even limbs due to reaching out to touch the cars as they screamed past them, some of the fingers were found to be stuck in the rear parts of the rally cars after the races.

Commenting over videos is okey and is why ppl would watch this but if u gonna keep doing so many of these short interuptions then plz just pause after abit instead. That crash that caused the car to run into the crowd is a perfect example. Yes u heard that about 30 ppl were injured but u failed to hear that several also got killed in that crash becouse u kept talking over it.
