The other nice thing about the fatmax is that you can extend it unsupported for about 15 feet before the tape folds under it's own weight. Great for measuring high stuff.

My harbor freight angle grinders wear out fast. I broke 3 or 4. The windings burn up and short circuit. The map gas looks useful. Thks!

Man, that is insane! I've had pretty good luck with mine. The pinion in my old HF grider went out, but expensive ones fail the same way. Were yours the same black grinder as mine?

The only thing I could possibly say is that you are absolutely correct in that these 10 items are significant and have in some way changed the way we do things and mostly for the best. However, when it comes to your stick tester, (tick tracer is what we call them in the trade; IBEW LU 840, Inside Journeyman Wireman). And the down side of those testers is that they can pick up very small, minute amounts of voltages which could give you a false “beep” when there’s not enough to light a fireflies ass... Just be very careful and remember nothing replaces turning the circuit off, or at the very least, use a multi meter.

Of course. When I was learning electrical I was told "these will give false positives, but not false negatives." It does not replace a good meter, it's just a time saving tool.

Free lumber/pallets on the side of the road? Always keep a cheap cordless saw in the car and you'll never have to pass on it again. Great useful list. I would add a one hand cordless reciprocating saw as well.

Those are good too. My only gripe is I can't gey my hands on a reliable one. I think I'll try the M12 hackzall next, but I haven't decided. Thanks for watching!

@@StrangeGarage I've had a dewalt recip forever. Use milwaukees extensively at work. Really couldn't tell you which one's more reliable. They've both worked extensively without incident. My corded recip saw is a Bosch. When I'm cutting a lot of steel and batteries just aren't going to make it, that's the beast.

I see your pegboard behind. Got a 40 year old one, thinking of covering it or replacing. Or need to make better use of it. (Don't like french cleats for this, btw.) Got any videos on organizing shops?

I'm not a fan of pegboard, and I don't see the practical advantage of French cleats. I replaced my pegboard with thick birch plywood (I think it's 1/2"). I stick a nail in it wherever I want to hang something. Nail stays put, and if I want to make a custom bracket for whatever, it's easy to screw it into the plywood. I love it.

@@nefariousyawn thanks for the reply. Exactly what I was thinking of doing. 40 years of items falling off on the floor, lol. Our pegboard is framed and I think I'm just going to lay a piece of plywood on top of it rather than dismount it. The nails are a perfect idea. Thanks for the confirmation! I don't use the pegboard much honestly. I like drawers that are task specific. I have one of the big husky tool boxes and each drawer is task specific. Electrical tools, drilling tools, sockets, wrenches, ect. I'm not the most organized guy in the world.

Totally Agree! The angle grinder is without a doubt the most used tool in my garage. I went through 3 of those shitty HF cheapies in one week. Finally said F-it and bought the 90dollar dewalt at the homelessshithole. I have abused the hell out of it for 5 years and when it does die, I will bury it in my backyard! I won't have the heart to put it in the trashcan!

You're not the first to tell me that. I'm actually really surprised. I'm on my 2nd HF grinder. The good ones and bad ones usually all fail the same way. My next will be a cordless brushless!

@@StrangeGarageI abuse my HF cheepy’s way more than I do my “good” ones, yet I’ve never really had one fail except the time I dropped one off my house onto the concrete. I’m seriously surprised people are having issues with them. They are usually my go to. If I “save for good”?my M18 Fuel much longer, it’s gonna be antiquated before I use it. So much stress using uber expensive tools ; )

@@markashlock9017 I have never heard it articulated that way, but I completely agree! I'm afraid of damaging expensive tools, and it prevents me from using them as intended. I'm really glad to finally hear someone say that.
