So the person talking I would guess was still 20 to 25 years from being born when the 70s was occurring. 1) Video killed the Radio Star is an iconic song. They were definitely not hated in the 70s plus they were closer to an 80's band. 2) Billy don't be a hero, while not a popular song I don't recall anybody really hating it other than being kind of bland pop. 3) Edison Lighthouse was definitely not hated. Loves grows was ridiculously popular in certain circles 4) Genesis, no just no. Seriously no. 5) Morris Albert Feelings, meh, I don't recall anybody really hating, mostly we just wished Bo Johnson's mom would stop playing it in the car. 6) Muskrat Love, ok fine, yeah that song was annoying 7) Rubert Holmes, Pina Colada, bzzt. That song was very popular, hell my wife and I sing it when it comes on the radio. You clearly need a time machine. There was a lot of shit music in the 70s and I wasn't all that fond of any of the above (except Genesis) being more of a Skynrd, Zepplin, Allman Brothers, Marshal Tucker Band kind of person but whoever made this list clearly wasn't alive in the 70s and just pulled random shit off The Google.

Top 40 music from the 70s. We listened to what they played on the radio or TV because we had few options. You could buy a record, 8 track, or cassette. No KZbin or internet. The 70s rocked anyway and the music was better than whatever they're playing now. Dark Side of the Moon 1973. Remember that masterpiece? I certainly do. It was on vinyl. 🎸 🥁 🎤 🎶 Year of the Cat. 🐈 I drifted away listening to it. 😊 There's so much more. 😲

The narrator?? Probably an idiotic pipsqueak (he certainly sounds like one) about 20 years old - no effing idea!! Probably never played an instrument or sung to an audience in his life! There are some of these songs that I don't like, but Genesis should NEVER be mentioned on this list! I played in rock/folk rock/cover bands back in the 70s and 80s, and I can tell you easily which band's songs got people up and dancing and singing along! Although immensely popular (and UNhated), I have never been able to stand the BeeGees, and a good way to reunite them as a band is a couple of bullets. But Genesis on this list - get effing real!!

I look back and I am truly proud and grateful to be a Gen X’er. I got the best that the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s had to offer in both music AND cinema thanks in large part to my Stepdad. Used to sneak down into the basement to listen to my Dads 8-tracks of The Sweet, Kiss and Nazareth among others. He also used to take us to the Drive In every weekend. It was a cheap night out for my young parents cause they could sneak me in and didn’t have to pay for a babysitter. My Mom refused to leave me with other people. So, I got to see some of the greatest horror flicks of the 70’s and 80’s too when they were initially released. RIP Dad. I miss you ❤️

Genesis released 7 albums in the 70s, 6 of them with Gabriel I think. Yes, Genesis turned into a pop band in the 80s, but early Genesis is superb musicianship and anyone who hates that era doesn't understand music.
@MrBaldypete1 Жыл бұрын
Peter Gabriel was the man. Look at his solo stuff. Don't get me wrong, Phil Collins is a go-to musician for me (much to the distaste of my mother, who hates him for his anti-Labour comments during the 80's) but you're right. Genesis in the 70's was a completely different band.
@MrLucky-1 Жыл бұрын
I partially agree with your comments. Both the Gabriel and Collins versions of the band had great musicians. But I walked out on a live performance of Gabriel/Genesis when they were doing The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. It was like watching and listening to a bad grade school skit.

@@birchward hi Ritchie, yes indeed, I am a Bees supporter. The season is ending on a disappointing note after getting to 7th!
