This was an exceptionally disappointing list falling far short of the standard of excellence I've come to expect of this (and its sister) channels. Not only are mosy of these events significantly more researched and understood than provided for in the video, but I don't believe the #1 selection fits the theme of the list itself.

The thing about the Carrington Event was that scientists knew enough in 1859 to figure out what happened and that there were electrical lines around to demonstrate something happened. The question is: has this happened before in history when there was no technology to detect it? If so, is this a regular type of phenomenon that happens every century or every few centuries or every few millenia?

I think that the only way to determine the occurrence of similar events would be to look for records of unusual locations for aurora sightings or very strong aurora events.

The interesting thing about Venus is that it is the second planet from the sun, but is also the hottest planet. Mercury, which is significantly closer to the sun, is cooler on the surface. All that high pressure CO2 the video mentioned absorbs and holds onto heat. So it actually slowly continues getting hotter until the day it becomes so hot that it just breaks apart and becomes a small asteroid field, slowly making an ascending orbit away from the sun, and possibly even colliding with the Earth in the process.

@hepchaos

wow. Nice story, with almost every single thing you said being impossible by the laws of physics. First, the hottest planet is Jupiter. Second, CO2 can only hold so much heat, and Venus radiates heat like everything else; but that doesn't matter because even if you impossibly could turn the whole mass of Venus into one big ball of hot gas, so what. It's not going to defy gravity and pick itself up and move from it's orbit just because it feels like it. And objects just don't "acsend away from the sun". That's not how gravity works, or there would be no solar system.

For the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake, NUKES Top 5 had a video of a taxi driver with a dash cam that showed the driver driving off from the curb, and half a minute later you see a girl half visible in the back seat magically appear out of nowhere, then disappear into thin air.... That stuff over there is crazy! And in my mind, very real.

One interesting aspect of the Tunguska Event is that it took several decades before there was a serious scientific expedition to the region to conduct an investigation, mainly thanks to the various political upheavals in Russia that led to the formation of the Soviet Union. The first expedition had in its company a scientist who had recently studied another catastrophic event and its aftermath - the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He found the pattern of destruction very similar to the atomic blasts in those cities and posited a theory that it might have been the result of an alien spacecraft exploding in the atmosphere over the area.

I believe that Tsunamis are fairly well understood. However , it is a natural disaster and the damage caused by a Tsunami , perhaps can not be predicted in advance as in case of a cyclone etc. The damage caused be Tsunami depends on so many factors like its strength , structure of the coast and density of population etc , though scientists can fairly well predict its path and so on.😄😄😄

Venus is very interesting. If it was once habitable, then the question is if it was always heavy or if it once orbit in a position similar to earth's current rotation until the moment the CO2 became too much.
@kevinth66

What? Your second sentence is nonsensical. "was it always heavy"? What does that even mean? "orbit in a position similar to earth's current rotation" this really blows the bell curve on inanity.
