I was employed at a restaurant when I was young. I had been put on probation for a couple of marijuana charges, and had to keep employment, as a condition. I had a manager who loved to annoy me, because she knew I could not quit. Every time she would annoy me and I would get pissed off. She would look at me, and say,"if you don't like it. . Quit." Knowing I could not, or I could go to jail if I did. So I stayed, pissed off, and waited. 3 years of this BS. Then in July of the year, I was done, I completed my probation. But I continued to work there, waiting. Then she started her routine of annoying me. I waited. Then she used those words. . . "If you don't like it . . . Quit." So I smiled, and said," you are absolutely right. . . . I QUIT!!" Her jaw dropped, she was stunned. She quickly says, "you can't, your on probation". Again I smiled, an evil smile. "No. Actually I'm not". Again her jaw dropped. "Since when?". "A couple of months ago, my probation ended". "So I do not have to put up with your bullshit any more. . . I Quit" I removed my apron, and threw it at her, and walked out. And I did this at the busiest time, dinner rush. She was caught completely off guard and ill prepared for the situation, because she thought she had the upper hand. The shock, the confusion on her face was priceless. After that, I was told by coworkers who were friends, that incident lead to several employees to fallow suit and quit as well. I refused to go there to eat for a few year, even though I loved the food. But when I did go there one day, an employee I worked with saw me and came over to me. He said afterwards, things started changing. The mid managers were talking to the corporation, about the incident and how the manager caused it, and how she lost control of the workers, and was taking it out on everyone. How she had never been played like that before, and she was becoming unhinged. Which lead to more staff quitting and a low performance, then higher customer complaints. But once the company got rid of her, and hired a better manager, the restaurant got better, and is a nicer place to work at. While my incident was a catalyst for the downfall of a bad manager, and a bad time at the restaurant. It would ultimately be the beginning of a betterment of it. For the company and the employees. I feel bad for those who suffered. But I had enough of the insanity, and nothing holding me there anymore. And it was my pleasure to do it the way I did. No, it was my right. I might have gotten myself into the situation. But she took full advantage of it, and used it to be a deliberate bitch. She could have been a decent human being, but she made the choice to treat me like nothing, less than a person. So she made it happen. She made that choice, and set the events into an enviable conclusion. She just thought I was a pot smoking sap, who didn't have the backbone, or intelligence to get one over on her. And when I proved she was wrong and not as smart as she thought. Checkmate, I Win. And she could not handle it, and never got over it. I might have been forced to quit, but she got fired for being incompetent.

The quit scene (which is basically the opening scene) of "Hercules Returns" (1993) is classic. When an employee is supposed to present movie posters and ideas, and instead presents hs boss with a giant middle finger and the words "I quit", it gets the message across plainly and directly. It would be closer to an honourable mention, but I also liked the quit scene from "Bridget Jones' Diary". Not only does she leave her job where she detests everyone present, she gets away from her boss by using his own words against him.
