This is my list of NONhorror/thriller films that were released in 2022 in Australia. 
 *Obvi my taste is VERY personal to me and what I enjoy. (Disturbing, satire and awkward) * Some films may have come out in 2021 for other countries but unfortunately, they weren’t released within my country till this year. It would be silly to not include them on this list just because of international dates - it would mean they wouldn’t be able to make my 2021 list or 2022. 
And on the flip side, I did see a few early releases that still may not be on wide release. I’m just doing what I can to keep the list fair.

Mass broke me is a shame this film didn’t get more awards attention it was also made for under 300 thousand United States dollars. Another few films I recommend when you get the releases in Australia are Babylon The fabelmans Tar The whale Aftersun Decision to leave On Netflix look up all quiet on the western front Also what are you looking forward to in 2023 horror or non horror My top 3 horror anticipated are Infinity pool Scream 6 Skinamarink Non horror Killers of the flower moon Oppenheimer Dune part 2

@@victors4786 agree in terms of narrative realism, but the chief element on listing top films here was the entertainment factor, followed by thought provocation. The second half of Barbarian, as seen on opening night without any knowledge of the plot, was a banger. Your favorite horror film?

I loved Red Rocket. It is probably the best movie that no one saw last year. It has such a realness to it that few filmmakers don't capture. It always feel that even with the lowest people in society, Baker is never judging them or having a superior attitude. Rex was top notch in the film and I never thought I say this about the silly brother from Scary movie 3. I hope more people discover this movie in the future.

The Banshees of Inisherin was so affective for me because the film is very casual and almost passive, but the themes it presents hit you right in your soul. Utterly brilliant way to examine friendship and life’s purpose and their intermingling. Red Rocket! Totally blew me away. It almost felt wrong to watch but I couldn’t help myself. I like to think that while he watched her sing Bye Bye Bye he had a glimmer of remorse. But then the rest of the movie happens! Great list. Can’t wait to see Triangle of Sadness.

I'm not surprise that you liked The Batman Emma. Even thought it's a superhero movie, the mystery and the Riddle are what drives the film. I've saw 'Not Okay' and it film really drives in the problems some people have with their obsession of being famous online and the lengths they go though.

Half of my favourite movies of the year are actually 2021 movies, 'cause in Brazil we usually get these awards season movies very late. But talkin' about 2022 movies only, some of my favourites would be A Hero, Decision to Leave, Del Toro's Pinocchio, Aftersun, The Batman and Everything Everywhere all at once. Great recommendations!! I have two for you, since you love devastating stories :) They both came out this year in my country, Croatia. I'm not really sure where they're available to watch, I've seen them both in cinema recently. The first one is Safe place (Sigurno mjesto), and the second is The Uncle (Stric). Highly recommend!!

Your non horror sensibilities are as brilliant as your taste in horror. My favourite non horror is Banshees for all the reasons you mention. It is as beautiful as it is devastating. As for your top picks, I will be checking out Triangle soon and I absolutely love everything Sean Baker does, except Red Rocket was released in the US back in the Fall of 2021 - it was on my favourites of that year. As always great list. A few on here I will add to my cue. And oh yeah, GDT’s Pinocchio is really great as well.

I loved Mass, was gutted by Vortex and Banshees and agree about Not Okay. The Fallout is a great example of Jenna Ortega's acting chops as well as a topic that needs to be covered over and over again, and then again unfortunately and shamefully so! Great list! I saw Mass in January and boy or boy is that movie so good. Del Toro's Pinocchio blew me away. I'm really not a huge Pinocchio fan generally but this one, WOW! Just watched ChaCha Real Smooth and it has quickly gone to the top of my list.

If you like dark comedies then you would definitely appreciate The Butcher Boy by Neil Jordan, so good. If you haven't seen it, you must. It probably gives us redheads a bad name but damn it is great.
