The 1966 Grinch is the classic. Always a great song even the long version. Of course White Christmas is such a lovely song. The Grinch is campy, but White Christmas captures the love of home during the holidays. My favorite is Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

I was amazed when I found out that not only did Olivia Olsen perform the entirety of "All I Want For Christmas is You" herself, but she had to take breaths that she didn't really need, because the filmmakers didn't think that the audience would believe that she really WAS that talented, at such a young age! 💕

One of my favorite musical moments in a Christmas movie comes from my favorite Christmas movie, "The Gathering", a long-forgotten 1977 TV movie. It's a story about a man who finds out he is dying. He's estranged from his family and wants to make amends, but wants a sincere reconnection, not just being nice because he IS dying. His wife agrees to set up a Christmas Family Gathering, hoping, the children will show up. The musical moment is when a large group of carolers show up. They start singing "Angels We Have Heard On High". As he is passing out warm drinks to the group, an extra voice comes in at the "Gloria" part. He turns and looks...and it's one of his daughters, who had cut him off completely when he left her mother. Ed Asner plays the man, and the look on his face when he sees his daughter...OK, I'm crying as I'm typing this.

On what planet is "White Christmas" not number 1? Although I agree that "It's a Wonderful Life," is clearly the best Christmas movie ever, the musical number should be no higher than third. "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," may be Judy Garland's greatest movie performance. One more thing, there is nothing controversial about the lyrics in "Baby, it's cold outside." This is a case of people (intentionally) misinterpreting the context (and the actual words) of the song.

Two huge problems with this particular Top 10. Have you guys lost your mojo just as the holiday season begins? (1) Jump (for My Love) is NOT a Christmas song (even if it was used in an iconic Christmas movie "Love, Actually")! (2) How is "White Christmas" not #1? The songs from "It's a Wonderful Life" are iconic songs worthy of inclusion on this list, but not at expense of a Bing Crosby classic.

@kelleyceccato70252 жыл бұрын
When I was little, I saw a commercial for the movie on a local TV station and fell in love with those dresses she and Vera-Ellen wore. Then, when the movie aired a few days later, I found myself disappointed that they didn't dress like that through the whole thing. Perhaps my affection for pre-20th century period dramas begins here...
@mervyngreene66872 жыл бұрын
@@kelleyceccato7025 Personally, I was always more of a Vera Ellen fan. I believe that she may be the most underrated dancer in movie history. Also, a few years ago, I saw an interview with Rosemary Clooney about "White Christmas." She seemed to be trying to avoid saying anything negative about Bing Crosby, although she didn't deny a lot of the bad press he has gotten after his death. But her comments about Vera Ellen were hilarious. First, she emphasized what most of us knew--Vera Ellen's singing was dubbed. But then she described her as being "very disciplined,"-i.e. no fun. In a way, that is not surprising. Clooney spent a lot of her early career hanging around with "the boys," big bands. While Vera Ellen was pretty much a well trained athlete. Also, her parts were more physically demanding than the other three combined.

I am so disappointed Thank you Very Much from Scrooge isn't on this list. Technically it isn't a Christmas song but it is one of the most catchiest in a Christmas film as well as one of the funniest especially as Scrooge played by the late Albert Finney joins the others celebrating his 'kind deed' oblivious they are celebrating his 'death' and the reprise was also brilliantly done as well.

Now I COULD understand SOME People being upset by the President Lincoln birthday celebration as it was undoubtedly racist BUT in their defense they weren't TRYING to be racist OR disrespect Blacks! Bing's character Jim was trying to disguise the woman Linda from his former partner Ted. A Modern remake could easily do away with the Lincoln bit and simply have a masked ball for President Day which they did NOT have back in 1942! President Washington and President Lincoln's birthdays were celebrated separately back then!
