Top 10 Must Read Fantasy Series

Would love to see more women, BIPOC, and queer authors represented! The Green Bone saga by Fonda Lee is a modern classic (and my personal golden standard for modern Fantasy), The Burning series by Evan Winters is compelling af, and The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir is one of the most original and creative series that inspires a huge fanbase to go feral for those books-- with memes upon memes and fanart as far as the eye can see. Heck! The Broken Earth trilogy by NK Jemisin literally won a Hugo for each of the 3 books in the series.

WoT is a journey and a wonderful journey at that. It’s a must for fantasy fans. The audiobooks are great as well, Michael Kramer and Kate reading are the goats. I just finished the first mistborn trilogy and the Stormlight archive and have fallen in love with the cosmere. Started The faithful and fallen series a few days ago.

This video is the reason why I kind of have a problem with booktube because there's a lot of booktubers in the fantasy genre who make lists without actually reading the books that are on their list how do you have an opinion on something you've never read I want to read most of the series but I'm not going to have an opinion on it until I read it it just doesn't make sense to me

I totally get your point. This video was more intended as some of the best of the fantasy series and I included some I haven’t read but have heard and been recommended as being must reads in fantasy. They definitely are at the top of by TBR, but I am working on a video of my own personal top 10 favorites books so stay tuned for that :)

This presenter doesn't exist in a vacuum. He has friends and colleagues he trusts and has academic discussions about the literary merits and flaws with the books he knows, and those he doesn't. He is honest that he hasn't read the books, but also gives valid reasons to recommend them anyways. If this list was called "My top 10 favorite fantasy series", that would be a problem, but it's not. He considers The Wheel of Time a must read, and he should. It's one he feels he needs to read it, and feels comfortable letting others know that his reasoning makes sense to him and likely applies to them as well.

Just curious, why no Harry Potter? It's second only to LotR in cultural significance in the fantasy genre. There's other fantasy series I personally enjoy more, but none that are more socially important for people to be familiar with.

Yeah if I was to redo my list I honestly would probably include Harry Potter because of the significant impact on the fantasy genre. At the time when I made this I decided not to include it as I felt these other series took precedence, but minds change haha.

I watch a lot of Book Reviews..... My one thing.... dislike.... hate it.... Please get a stand for the book you're talking about. When you keep it in your hand and keep moving the book around.... it is tough for me to keep up. I would rather see the Cover and the Art(plus title) Would not even mind seeing the back of the book. please please... just dont bounce the book around. .... otherwise I'll watch more 👍👍
