Ricky Rudd is the only driver I've ever seen who uses the heel-toe technique the same way I do. My feet are too big for me to turn my heel to the gas pedal so I've always used my heel on the brake and blipped the throttle with my toe. I figured I was doing it "wrong", but what works, works. Cool to see that a respected professional like Ricky Rudd drove the exact same way when it came to downshifts, and that it netted him numerous road course victories
@99EKjohn2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure I've seen a few rally and f1 drivers use the same technique, before they had semi-auto gearboxes, due to not having much room in the foot-well. How you rev match is pretty irrelevant to getting the match right. I normally use the side of my foot because it makes transitioning to left foot breaking easier. As long as you don't destabilize the car, it's a legitimate technique.

He had the championship in hand in 1990, but Nascar decided to dock a bunch of points from him, over a small part that ended up not making a difference, performance wise. Thus the title went to Dale. Otherwise, Mark would have had plenty of points to take the championship that year. Thats a fact. Just take from it what you will.
