Big Honey is an anomaly as a player and so good with the chonk or not. Look how far he took his team in the post season last year with a line up that consisted of a 36 year old Millsap, Austin Rivers who was out of the league until Denver signed him. Campazzo who came off the bench as a 4th option PG and of course Gordon who was a great addition but newly acquired. But, the Nuggs need Murray back(maybe post season if they're lucky, I hope)and they need MPJ to be consistent to progress further in the play offs. Joker is the real deal tho and has a huge basketball IQ.

People bash KD and his offense for not winning, and against the champ Big 3 Bucks with no Harden and Kyrie. Meanwhile prime, alien, freakish Curry gets mauled out of the playoffs (and exactly put up hollow and losing stats, and even small stats in itself, especially compared to all those reg season 40s, 50s, 60s) by the nursing Lakers and Ja Morant. And with no Warriors' development-focus on Wiseman in sight to bash on, but his regular season eruption is still the one who gets the prime focus and gets called the best offensive weapon of all time.

But especially surprising is the plain and visible complete stoppage of performance by Steph come Playoffs time, he didn't even look like Curry (not even to me, he even broke my expectations on him lol), let alone the nuclear Curry in specific stretches of his whole lit up regular season. And it's not like he didn't break expectations either, people were calling, with similar complete confidence, the surefire Curry 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s points nights to come from Curry because he is that good, and how teams were scared and about to die in droves for just meeting Playoffs Curry (basically was the talk of the pre-play in official start, at the end of the regular season with Curry scorching hot). Why do reality not even adjustes or gets acknowledged, in the judging of Curry now that the 2021 regular season ended, and his 2021 playoffs ended before starting? It's fine to not crash him down on the judgement, but Steph still gets called the best of the best with blind reverence and plain disregard of anything past May 16 2021.

Great to have this video, I was very curious to see where your ranges would land. It feels like every player ranking today is so influenced by the media and narratives, but you never let those things impact your analysis. Your list differs a lot from most typical top 10 lists, but there's such a strong rationale for where every player is placed with data to back it up, and the use of ranges makes so much more sense than firm placements. At the very top of the league, the gap between the very best players is often a lot smaller than we'd like to make it out.

A big part of the Bucks being that poor offensively in the PS is team 3pt%, which isn't really a fault on Giannis. I still don't think Giannis is a really good offensive #1, but if his teammates shot in the high 30s from three, I think the Bucks offense would look much better.
@elijahguerrero49133 жыл бұрын
May I respectfully ask why you don’t think a guy who averaged 30 in the playoffs, 35 in the finals and scored 50 in a close out game isn’t really good #1 ?
@mrbucky2263 жыл бұрын
I'm biased but I still don't think we've seen a team properly built around the guy. During the playoffs, he had 1 or 2 consistent shooters on the floor with him at best most nights. The guy gets consistently double and triple teamed going to the rim so if he had 2 or 3 elite shooters with him at all times, we'd be talking about him differently as an offensive centerpiece.

@@elijahguerrero4913 I think it comes down to your own interpretation of what a #1 is. Some people say it’s the one that scores the most points most games so in that case of course Giannis is a great #1. Some would say it’s the one you want to initiate the offense most times even if they don’t always score it and in that case Middleton is probably #1 for the Bucks. Some people see it as whoever has the best mix between the 2 and that’s when it gets kinda tough. On the Nets is Harden #1 or KD? Or with the 90s Jazz would it be Stockton or Malone? For me it’s completely arbitrary and doesn’t really help anybody by debating who’s #1 since teams have very different systems and there’s sometimes very little consistency even from one game to another

I wonder how AD is going to look this year. Hes one of the most fun players to watch when healthy, so i hope he can play well enough to find himself in this company again

Right, I was shocked he wasn’t ever mentioned, this man was a top 5 player in the league before last year, and now he’s being considered lower than Gobert?! Surprising
@moto24423 жыл бұрын
He was awful last season, Ben didn't mention steph or KD in 2020, when everyone knew or should have known they were still top of the league.

I love Steph and he is my favorite player but Giannis proved himself last post season run. It's not because Giannis won the title. It's because the Bucks won the title solely because of Giannis. The super fast recovery on Ayton on G4. The epic game which Giannis dropped 50 while many people's so called first option, Middleton, shot like 3 for 11 or something before the last quarter. Their third option, Holiday, shot 4/19 the entire game. Bucks were not supposed to win that game. Giannis was not supposed to shoot 17/19 on FT. That very moment, every metric and stats are thrown out of windows because those are special moments with small sample size which you cannot analyze in any meaningful way. By pure metric, maybe other players can be a top 1, but not after what Giannis did last post season. He is a clear cut number 1.

I think KD and Giannis are miles above the next couple. I just can’t respect Stephs defense. I don’t think he makes up for it as much as these guys

@t4d0W3 жыл бұрын
@@jasongerber6972 You don't have to. But defenses respect Steph's offense very much so. To the point where if its just him running the show, defenses will still swarm at him like the other Warriors players on the court don't matter. And until Klay comes back that is how defenses will stick to him. But when Steph has the rest of his crew with him and healthy, you best believe his gravity has a hauntingly huge effect on the rest of the Warriors players seeing very easy looks. Which for the most part trumps Curry's lackluster impact on individual defense because the Warriors as a unit when healthy and have the talent, are good enough to keep up with some of the NBAs playoff teams.

ESPN would probably kill his work, and his videos are not that appealing for the majority of the fan base.

Bit surprised that there was no mention of AD, even to say "if he were healthy he'd be on this list", presumably he'd be top 5?
@benjaminan11833 жыл бұрын
Considering he was 2nd the year before ahead of Giannis, who had a better individual year in 2020. He'd probably be 2nd or 3rd.
@si3nt5813 жыл бұрын
No I’d put him around the dame/Joel level he’s just too injury prone and he’s not even the best player on his team

AD barely played and when he did it was pretty disappointing, this was one of his worst seasons
@lik79533 жыл бұрын
Yea but he wasn’t healthy, and that affected his numbers. Thinking basketball can’t adjust for AD’s numbers if he was playing hurt. The stats show a injured AD’s production and he can only use the stats he’s given
