You're the best driving instructor on youtube. I was watching this bald guy and he was so arbitrary with his driving protocols. Being like "every 8 seconds check all your mirrors" and "shoulder check every time you move laterally." When practicing it was causing even more or a distraction cuz I was too busy checking mirrors and wasnt even fully aware of what was going on in front of me. I really appreciate how in one of your videos you said something like "you need to use the mirrors that are relevant to the information you need to know in that situation." So thank you for being more practical and logical in your driving instruction. It took a lot of stress off me from worrying about checking mirrors arbitrarily when I'm already aware of the vehicles around me.

I passed my driving test 13 years ago which had 14 minors. I failed the first time with a major and on both occasions I had gotten the same examiner. Anyway, no accidents in those 13 years of driving and I have even driven in other Countries where the vehicle had the steering wheel on the left hand side. Once you pass your driving test don’t look back and enjoy driving.

Got my test a week this Friday after many cancellations due to lockdowns. Trying to stay calm but difficult with the added pressure of next available test dates not being until next summer at least. Biggest tip is don't get nervous most people can easily pass the uk driving test if they don't get nervous. I failed on my first attempt as I got nervous and the car rolled back a lot. So that'll be my biggest tip imagine the examiner is your instructor or parent that can help calm your nerves a lot.

Sadly i drive an old, 87 Fiero with original engine in it. As much as your videos helped me learn to drive a manual, i wish i could find a teacher with an older classic car :( It needs a little extra help in certain areas, like taking off etc. It stalls much easier lol I imagine because the engine is old. I failed yesterday because of low speed on countryside road and signaling too early. It was rainy and I was driving at 30-38 mph on the countryside road. I signaled 3 times early, one of them there was a short line on the sat nav, I didn't think it would be a junction, so I signaled then cancelled it and re-signaled again after passing it. The second signaling was wrong, I didn't notice it. The third one was 300yds before a roundabout but there was no junctions before it.

I almost passed first time thanks to these videos, 2 minors but then on the last corner i missed a car in my front blindspot coming onto the roundabout and got a serious driving fault, i've never done that before over 1500 miles of learning with family members and it has to happen on the test, better luck next time i guess.

The reason for the stop sign being at what you call a "ridiculous" height is that it had to be mounted above the road, legally that requires that it be at least 16 feet 6 inches above the carriageway same as the minimum for an unmarked bridge, if there was a footpath for it to be above it would only need to be 11 feet up. Imposing a height restriction on a road just to put a sign lower might be seen by anyone needing access with a tall vehicle (bus, removal lorry, dustbin wagon, farm equipment, etc.) as even more ridiculous.

My exam is in two days. I’m quite nervous as I failed my last mock test. I did pass the two mock test before it though and the reason I failed was I pulled into a crossroad and as I was waiting for cars to pass, the light turned red. I thought the traffic would stop so I proceeded not expecting someone would run a red light. My instructor told me I should have waited a bit more till it’s really clear that the traffic have stopped.

UK driving rules and tests are ridiculously stringent. 99% of people just learn the rules for the test and then forget about them when they start driving because the rules are totally over the top which makes people dismiss them as nonsense. I believe the pedantic-ness actually makes people worse drivers.

I think it depends who teaches you, I wouldn't say I'm pedantic and neither is the test. Although there are a few things they are a bit too strict about in my opinion.

Even though I passed my test two months ago, I still watch your videos to remind and teach myself of how to drive well and safe. Great video! P.S Also a tip to people who are about to have their exams. I had number 9 happen to me when I totally forgot to put a car in gear on a hill before moving off. I know it may be hard, but the best thing to do is not panic and rev your car aimlessly because you won't go forward anyway! If you start rolling back, break to a stop and secure a car with a handbrake. Then take your time to see what went wrong. Once you figured it out, start again! That's what I did and it saved me a fail :D
