What is missing is that in 1934 KLM won the De MacRobertson London - Melbourne air race. A regular airliner that carried mail and passengers and came 1st in its category and 2nd in the overall classification. A world achievement among the many fast planes specially prepared for this race.

Many would dispute the best service claim but its record as the safest is indisputable. In fact it has been rated the safest airline every year for over 20 years now, in addition to no lives lost in the jet era. However it cannot come first in this video on the oldest airline if KLM was created a year before it.

Most of these list are comes from Europe and the Americas but not in Asia, because the oldest airline in Asia was no other than, Philippine Airlines 😊😊 Philippine Airlines started as Philippine Aerial Taxi Company which is founded in 1931 and the first flight service was from Manila to Baguio and Manila to Paracale and it was dissolved in 1939 due to financial constraints Philippine Airlines was formed in February 1941 and first flight in service was in March 1941 but didn’t last long because of World War 2 and during the war, PAL was used as a military transport for food and troops for the war and it was restored after the liberation In 1946, PAL has many firsts because while KLM has a oldest flight route used by European planes from Amsterdam to Jakarta, PAL’s flight from Manila to San Francisco was the oldest flight route used by Asian airlines and the first Asian airline to cross the Pacific Ocean In 1947, PAL was the first flight to Europe and in 1951, the airline has routes to the friendly country of Indonesia from Manila to Jakarta As a result, Philippine Airlines and Garuda Indonesia are considered as Grandparents of Asia’s Aviation and they became code sharing partners
