Saitama wanted to see how other people fight and to see if they could hurt him out of pure fun and curiosity. He liked the Boros fight because Boros lived through one punch. But he definitely didn't go all out as Boros stated before he died.

Ikose yeah besides the animation, I don’t think this studio understands Saitama’s character. In season 2 when he goes against Sonic Flash he says that every time he faces him he feels like he’s going to lose, yet in season 1 Saitama broke Sonic’s katana by biting it and completely overwhelmed him twice. Although I like how much battle there’s been so far, I hate that Saitama’s character and identity has been diluted.
