Very interesting. Like learning new things about gardening. I have attached some used guttering to plant my strawberries in, I attached them up the side of one of my horse panel trellises and on my wood fence from one set pole to the next set pole. They grow very well in them and easy to cover from the birds.

Always enjoy and appreciate what y'all do for us! You're about to talk me back into planting onions in November again. I got burned twice years ago by some extreme weather and lost one entire crop and about 90% of another year's crop. (they don't like 8 degrees!) I absolutely have grown the biggest and best onions overwintering them, but I've been gun shy since then. Surprised that regular insecticide and fungicide application wasn't in the questions, but it's absolutely critical!! I know it's in the Hoss University guidelines. The thing about onions is, your plants can be rocking along looking fine and you run into problems after harvest because of fungal issues. I talked to Bruce about that one year, described the problem, which was "heart rot" in storage, and his first question was "did you use a regular fungicide application program?" Lesson learned!! No problems since.

We have had good luck with Granex sweet onions from seeds in our raised beds (McDonough, GA Zone 8A just south of Atlanta). When Mama Hoss asked "how do you cure onions", my wife said "Don't let 'em get sick!" So that's our corny joke for this post.

I need to order onion seeds from you for next year. We are serving a gardening mission on the Navajo Reservation and the onions sets we had were donated from a company in Idaho. We are at 36.3061 degrees N. Any suggestions for varieties at this level? The gardeners we are working with grow between 7,000 and 7,800 feet above sea level. I would love to find a productive potato variety, too. I appreciate getting solid information from you!

OLD GOAT on top shelf directly behind Papa Hoss!!! I LOVE ONIONS, but another plant I FAIL at growing. My mama always used sets, whilst I tried seeds. Maybe I need to get for the sets in future!! GREAT VIDEO!!! But I am too hardheaded to understand why the terminology for long day versus short day onions is used, just doesn't make sense. I am in the north where my daylight is SHORTER but must plant LONG DAY? WHILST y'all have longer daylight yet you plant SHORT DAY?? Looks like I'm overthinking and need to just DO AS I'M TOLD!!! lol
