I can't speak for the quality of any of them, but preference of thickness/viscosity doesn't mean low quality necessarily. There are thicker and lighter ingredients and that does not equal to quality. Again, I'm not saying you are wrong, i haven't tried fable for example, but thickness is a preference

I just stick to my guy lux. He's always been consistent, and his customer service never faltered. Prices went up like everything else, but I know what I'm getting.

I absolutely agree! Fables customer service has gotten horrible as well! They have gradually graduated to screwing people over. I bought from them exclusively until recently. Had a very bad experience with them and customer service. Also noticed a difference in their oil consistency! Butter is average at best.

Yes, you will notice a company that grows to that size and surrounds itself with reviewers like that have a bad reputation of going to cheap products for maximum profit. His original oils were thick and worked great but now it's water thin and doesn't work well at all. I get it, it's a business and money is the point but there is a line you don't cross. I feel he has crossed it and went on like customer service and quality are a thing of the past

I agree to a point on beard octane. Don’t care for the oil at all. Their butter is good along with wash and conditioner. Chesapeake to me had pretty good oil. Didn’t care for the butter. Copper johns I thought was good for the most part but don’t find myself reaching for the products very often if ever. Fable products are average IMO and I had a bad customer service exp in the past

I just watched this video and it was eye-opening. But I have to voice a strong opinion about Fable. I have been growing my beard out for about 4 months now. And I have very sensitive skin. I have tried oils, butters, and balms from about 20 different companies, and I must say Fable has been the one I reach for most often. It does not irritate at all, it smells great, and the butted in experience is the best butter I have tried so far. I just wanted to get that out. I was very surprised to hear them mentioned twice. I highly recommend them.

Thanks for your support. Go and watch my top 10 companies for this year (2021) and check out those companies. All good for sensitive skin and far superior feel in beard. I used to love fables stuff but not since he changed the blend to auch cheaper and lower quality carrier distributor. Also check out the other comments to see others opinions also. I agree 100% about Chesapeak ownership. I have refused to purchase any products from them because of the owner. I bought Fable about 7 months ago and hadn't notice a change in their oil. But my beard seems to do better with thinner oils the heavy oils just leave a greasy feel. Regardless though I have refused to purchase fable since they had their Instagram campaign of flushing products. I do wish you had made this showing 10 different overrated companies and just mentioned that the ones that overlapped your list and the viewers list.

First off hope you had a great thanksgiving. Second I respect the honesty. In my opinion I disagree with a few of the choices. Starting with copper Johns. Tyson is an amazing guy. Awesome customer service. I really enjoy his Grey Beard line, his normal line was decent but the grey beard works wonders for my beard. An in my opinion it shouldn’t matter if one of his affiliates disagreed with him in the past. They talked it out an Tyson went back an changed what needed to get changed product wise. So to call a company over rated because of that is not a fair assumption. An my next company is Chesapeake. Now I had a not so good interaction with Gary a few years ago but I have now forgiven him an he’s actually an awesome caring person. If I can forgive him an give him a second chance then other people should do so also.

Love the content. Do you happen to have any recommendations for a scent/company that offers very lightly scented oils? I’m pretty sensitive to anything that’s strong. I generally prefer smells that fade within an hour or so but so many I’ve tried are strong. I have a strong preference to citrus/mint smells but I’m open minded!

Hey brother thanks for the support. Truly appreciated. Yes imho I believe he went from buying good quality ingredients in smaller amounts to buying 5 gallon and up to 50 gallon drums of carriers (which are way cheaper). They also can use a lower quality oil and make more profit! Even going from droppers to reducers for the Despenser saves a ton of money. Would you rather have a gallon of oil that's gonna be fresh bc your buying them more frequently or a 50 gal drum that sets on the shelf forever then gets bought then sets there forever?? Just all about max profit while using the cheapest product possible. Paying big reviewers to hype it up then boom!!

@@kentuckybeardsman a lack of consistency was the reason I stopped buying from them originally. I would buy 2 conditioners at the same time and one would be thick and the other ran like water. Also, I remember him posting a pic of the first 50 gal drum of oil he bought. We also have to consider that one of the most influential guys on KZbin is a fan of thinner oils, and has probably talked a few companies into going that route. Anyway, I like your honesty. I'm a little bit shocked to see Beard Octane as #1 overrated, I think its only overrated because they literally will pay anyone on YT with a beard, even if you only have a 5 o'clock shadow....lol.. to pump their products.....with that said, all their products are superior to Live Bearded IMO. Live Bearded and Bossman #1 and #2 for me easily.

I ordered butter from grave before shave at the beginning of January. They sent me the butter and the ingredients on the jar were different. I immediately was upset and wrote an 1 star review stating they changed the formula but did not show that on the website. They immediately took down the photos and updated the site to show the new formula. But i can’t have grapeseed oil. So i had to return it and they made me pay shipping. Don’t buy from gave before shave.

Man I fell in love with black rebel beard Co, try it! It's amazing like 16 different oils in there beard oil. Awesome scents like colognes and ostrich oil. My beard has started growing again, with bossman it stopped. I won't put bossman in my beard again. Since I switched to brbc I haven't had a single sore infected hair. Can't say enough good things about black rebel.

I use live bearded mustache wax and I like that they do have a nice applicator and their beard butter is thick almost like a fiber for hair. I haven't bought any new oil from fable in a bit but I love their scents and I use their deodorant and I prefer it over dr.squatch if I'm being completely honest. The scent lasts longer and I don't have irritation

I can't agree with Ruddy Man, I actually enjoy his products and the concept. I have a few of his scents and I like the feel in beard and the smell of them too. I bought the Wizard from Fable and I wish he could do a magic trick and make that 💩 dissappear. The butter smelled awful.

I agree with beardbrand being overpriced. They are getting rid of 3 scents as well which gives new people less options as far as scent goes. I will say, their styling balm is by far the best balm for styling. Works like magic👌 of course this is just my opinion.

Luxurious Bastard Beard Co is one of your “premium” and favorite companies but at 6:05 you say rice bran oil is cheap and that’s the first ingredient Luxurious Bastards list on their beard oil bottle. Luxurious Bastards also uses sunflower seed oil which is known for causing skin irritation. Make it less obvious next time bro.

I would have to disagree with you on Detroit Brand beard oil I personally think their beard oils are great quality & the fragrance lasts all day, also Live Bearded makes some top notch beard oils & butters I don't know how you can judge them without ever trying them. Live Bearded wash & conditioners are fantastic my favorite scents are Tombstone, American, Legacy & Executive, all their fragrances have a unique scent compared with other brands of beard care products whose fragrances are so similar in their different scents. Also Bossman isn't as bad as you claim the beard jelly is a combo of beard oil & beard butter and if you use too much yeah it will leave an oily facial hair, their beard oil is better than many that I've tried Stagecoach, Magic & Hammer are some of my favorite fragrances. You seem to be very opinionated and come off as a smart ass, and when you just speculate without having the facts on how these products are manufactured. I would challenge the bearded brotherhood to try samples and find the fragrance and type of oil, butter, or balm that suits you !!!

Artius Man...overrated. Very inconsistent manufacturing. I’ve purchased the same oil 3 times and it smelled different each time. The last two times it was awful. They replaced the second one but did not acknowledge that they were actually at fault and sent an oil that still didn’t smell good...at all. When they get it right, it is a great product. You never know what you will get. Also, they don’t allow negative reviews on their website...so they are not honest and/or transparent.
